I found this hidden hot spot several years ago while in the area. Very delicious. I highly recommend both a meat and veggies combo meal. And if you're in a group order up, it's reasonable! I especially loved the Lamb. But the veggies are also on point. Do it, do it now! read more

It was an interesting dining experience here, as they are in the process of moving to a new location. I asked if it was ok that our group dine in and the owner said it was fine, so we did. We were each given a bottle of water while we perused their menu. I'm not sure I always understood the questions he asked, but we got our food ordered. It came out pretty quickly. We just didn't understand what came with the various dishes, so we'd ordered more food than we could possibly eat. Everyone enjoyed the meal and our time together. The dining area looked like it was under construction (which it probably is since they're moving soon), but the owner was very gracious and friendly. read more

I was really excited to check out Queen Sheba after hearing some good things about it, but I unfortunately was a bit disappointed with the experience. To start with the good, staff were friendly. Service was good and the food came out quick. The space was clean and there's lot of seating. However, I was a bit disappointed in the food itself. I preface this by saying that while I know this is an Eritrean restaurant, a lot of the dishes are similar between Eritrean and Ethiopian food. I really enjoy Ethiopian food, and I was really looking forward to eating here. But the presentation was lackluster; even a quick google search can show how colorful and appetizing Eritrean food can be. We couldn't tell the difference between the beef tibs, the spicy beef, and the regular beef because they all tasted the same. The chicken was dry and hard to chew. I'm not sure if it was because the injera was too sour, but all the lentils tasted the same too. I came in ready to stuff my face but left feeling pretty disappointed. read more

Really good food here . The restaurant is also a small market . Owner is fun to chat it up with. Eritrean is very similar to Ethiopian style food as far as how it is served and flavors for reference. You must request spicy if that's your thing. It is a bit warm in the dining area so dress comfortably. Many vegan options available. read more

So disappointed with this visit. The injera was too fermented for my liking. We ordered the meat combo, veggie combo and the beef tibs. The veggie combo was mostly lentil based and the veggies over cooked. The Tibs was way too saucy than tibs I get at most other places. Service however is awesome and friendly. read more

My sister and I ordered a boneless chicken and spinach dish to share, and they added on some extra vegetable dishes for us to try. Everything had great flavor, and the portions are worth while. It's definitely a small, hole-in-the-wall shop with some interesting decor and storage space, but the (presumed) owner was incredibly nice and made it a great experience! I'm not from AZ, but would definitely come back. :) read more

Fantastic!!!! We just ate lunch at Queen Sheba, an authentic Eritrea restaurant., and it was a wonderful experience. The food was super tasty, featuring unfamiliar, yet delicious flavors. We ordered a couple combo plates (one lamb and one vegetarian), which were presented "family style." No utensils were used, and it was a lot of fun scooping up the entrees with fresh-baked, gluten-free Eritrea flatbread. Loved it!! If/when you are up for something completely different, but yummy . . . give Queen Sheba a try. I can't wait to bring the whole family there for a fun feast! read more

Queen Sheba - Two Entrees - African Near Me - Tucson, Arizona

Although I've never tried Eritrean food before, I've had Ethiopian, which is close, both in proximity and taste. My wife and I tried it on a whim as we passed by. We found a safe place to U-turn and wow are we glad we did! In addition to the restaurant, there was a small store to purchase items from Eritrea. It's a family business and all hands were busily preparing food. A little girl greeted us while briefly looking up from making bread. My wife and I shared a veggie combo and took some home for dinner (it's HUGE). Now that we know it's there, we'll definitely be back to work through the menu. read more

Queen Sheba - Veggie Combo - African Near Me - Tucson, Arizona

I don't recommend this place at all. I ordered a beef and chicken dish, and everything came out on one plate after about 45 minutes, according to the server. The dish was listed as $18 and $16, and I was overcharged. The food was ok but I felt like I was cheated out of what could have been an ok experince. If you want to go and try the food, go ahead but make sure to take a look at the bill. I am filing a dispute with my credit card company for sure! read more

Queen Sheba is amazing! Hands down my favorite food in Tucson so far. It's super casual, but it's not order at the counter for dining in customers. It looks like it could go either way. They were so friendly and welcoming. When I sat down I was offered water with or without ice. When the owner came to my table to take my order, I ordered "beef combo" instead of meat combo. The beef is definitely the best I've ever had so I'm glad I got a lot of it. It's dice sized cubes of super-tender beef in a flavorful sauce that is not hot-pepper hot. I also asked for shero, because typically that's my favorite. I received a full size injera with 1/3 beef in berebe, 1/3 shero, and 1/3 all the other veg dishes they make. Everything was wonderful. I even liked the greens! There was a generous plate of injera strips as well. It all smelled so amazing that I forgot to take pictures. Since what I ordered is actually 2 entrees, I took at least 3 lunches' worth of food home. The owner boxed it up for me using the largest spoon I've seen. Prices are good for the amount of delicious food you get. My food came out fast. It tasted fresh, but the speed makes it a viable lunch option. Canned soda was the only thing I don't recommend. It came out of a glass front professional refrigerator but was warm. The sign outside says they are an Eritrean grocery as well, but that section is well to the side. When I went at 11:30am, I was the only person there. Others came in as I was leaving. The parking is easy. The owner told me I was welcome any time. I will definitely be adding this to my restaurant rotation. Now I just need some more friends who are food-adventurous... read more

I was worried that they had closed down based on no recent yelp reviews but THEY ARE OPEN!!! They even looked closed from the parking lot (no cars) but the "Open" sign was lit up and when I pulled into the parking space, I could see people seated at a table inside. I got the small meat sampler and it was great. I didn't know there would be some veggie dishes included in the sampler but there was - what a great surprise. read more

I had never tried Eritrean food before. You eat with your hands. The food was good. I'm adding some updated photos of the menu as they didn't have any in here prior but they do on their website. It was a quaint family owned business and the children actually took my order. The coffee was strong but good. The beef was the most flavorful but each part of the dish had its own unique flavor. The portion was also huge and I couldn't finish it all so the price for the quantity was very good! read more

From their website: Posted on Mar 16, 2021: "Queen Sheba will be moving to our new location at 6470 E 22nd St. We will close our Grant location on March 2021 in order to move our equipment. Our new location is much larger and has more parking available for you. We expect to reopen by April 20. God bless and see you soon." My review: Great food at a reasonable price. I always order the Meat combo to go, and I bring a plastic dish tub (available for a buck at Dollar Tree) to catch the juice that spills out of the container. They give you a boat load of Injera bread to go with it. read more

Don't eat here. The owners a piece of shit. He didn't give me what I ordered. I asked for gored gored and he said sure. He then requested if he could give me half chicken, and if you know what gored gored is chicken should definitely not be served raw. What I received was Kai wot in terrible boxing. Injera was cut sliced too thin and made it difficult to eat. The wot leaked into the bag. Highly disappointed. read more

Brought out of town friends who eat vegan. Was delicious. Plenty to share and the family style was ideal.

QUEEN SHEBA IS AMAZING!!!! Echoing the majority of the reviews here, but they truly have great service and offer super flavorful food that is spiced just right. The food is prepared quickly, there are so many delectable vegan/veggie options, the prices are very reasonable, and the portions huge! Husband and I got the veggie combo and beresen (red lentils) and split them across 3 dinners for 2 people. A definite recommend. read more

I had the veggie combination meal and it was superb! I had enough left overs for 2 more smaller meals. Even reheated it was delicious. It's easy to miss this great place while driving when it's dark out. They may need a spotlight on their sign. The service was great butI was also the only person on a quiet Sunday. I'd be fine waiting for a while though because it is such fantastic food. read more

This was our first time here! We came here on a Saturday night around 6:45pm, and there was already a group of 3 people eating and another group of 6 people. Service was slow here, but that's because there's the owner waiting the tables and a chef in the kitchen. It's fine but don't come too hungry or you'll get hangry! We each ordered the large Meat Combo, and it all came out on top of one round injeri bread with individual injeri bread on the side. Injeri is a sourdough-type flatbread that is made from teff flour, and it's a national dish for some African countries, including Ethiopia and Eritrea. The Meat Combo comes with a sample of beef, spicy beef, lamb, and chicken with some sides that weren't described in the menu. I think maybe something with chickpeas but whatever it is, it's delicious! The Meat Combo came out pretty quick from the time we ordered it. I thought the chicken was slightly dry, and my favorite is the spicy beef. I kind of wished that the food was kept at a hotter temperature. It was a bit on a low-warm setting for me. We also ordered an avocado salad. It was fresh with tomatoes, onions, greens, and slices of avocado on top. I ate it too fast so I didn't get a photo. The dressing is light, sweet, and tangy. I'd call it a light Italian dressing. Whatever it is, I'd buy the dressing if they sold it at Queen Sheba. As for the atmosphere, the walls are white with lots of framed photos of Erithean culture (the food here culturally derived from Erithea, a country in Africa). There are long tables with white tablecloths pushed together so it's a tight seating area when there are a lot of people. Overall, I'd definitely come back here again! The food here is delicious. For those of you that don't know, you eat with your hands here, no forks (unless you have the salad). read more

This was our first time getting food from Queen Sheba and we will definitely be back! The husband and I wanted to try something different and I found this place close by. We ordered takeout (meat combo and veggie combo plus a donut for dessert) and it was all completely fabulous! The cabbage in the veggie combo was incredible, both flavors of lentils were delicious (I realized at the end I ate more of the yellow ones) and the beef had a complex flavor that paired nicely with everything. The owners were also a delight. I told them it was my first time eating there and they were kind and patient as I asked questions about the food. On top of that, driving there I hit the world's biggest pothole and got a flat tire. At 9 pm in the rain, they helped me by holding lights, getting a real jack out and problem solving how to get the nut covers off since it was my first time changing a tire of a new car and the previous owner seemed to misplace some of the tools necessary. Great food, great family. Looking forward to getting takeout from here again! Thank you Queen Sheba! read more

I've been wanting to try Queen Sheba since it opened and finally got the opportunity to. The food was delicious and the quantities were huge! I believe this is the only Eritrean place in Tucson. There are a few Ethiopian restaurants that have similar dishes. I can't say that I am cultured enough to know the difference, but what I do know is that it's really tasty. They have multiple meat and vegetarian entrees, build-your-own platters, and pre-selected meat and veggie combos. A friend and I shared the small veggie combo platter ($10, what a steal) and had plenty of leftovers after stuffing ourselves. There were a few potato, lentil, spinach, and tomato dishes. I didn't catch the names but it was all good. There was plenty of spongy, tangy injera to go around as well. I saw that the ga'at was a traditional dish, so we tried that. It's a thick barley and teff porridge that has almost a chewy polenta texture. There is a well in the middle filled with spiced oil and it is served with cottage cheese. It may not be for everyone, but I enjoyed it. We also ordered a small and it turned out to be anything but. It was about 6 inches in diameter! The service was super friendly. It was quiet on a Monday night and the server (and owner?) checked on us several times. It's great to have an alternative to the Ethiopian places in town. I can't recommend this place enough and will definitely be back for more! read more

I've gone to this family owned restaurant two times this week and it is so delicious! This will definitely be one of my regulars moving forward. The family is very kind-hearted. Can't give enough compliments! Each visit has been wonderful, from dining in - to getting items Togo. The establishment is small, a bit hidden so drive slowly, or you will miss your turn . Family owned and operated ( which is a win in my book! Support the local business). Even though, it's a small establishment- very very tasty and clean! I like to check out the bathrooms, usually points how clean the kitchen is - and it is super duper clean ! Also, the kitchen is very open so you can actually watch the process of cooking which is very cool. Had tried variety of combo platters from Vegetarian to Meat selections and I was pretty happy and satisfied with everything. Was pretty good as leftovers too! We will definitely be back, many many times! 4 Location, kinda hidden. 5 Cleanliness 5 Service ( everyone has been so kind. And on top of everything - from checking up on you, to refilling drinks). 5 Food, Tasty - try it. Looks different, but so worth it. And it's fun for date night! 5 Price, I say is very reasonable for a large amount of food. Please refer to photos to view dishes and menu. *Pointer, You can use a fork to eat, but definitely try using the bread that comes out with it and use your hands, it's kinda cool as a experience and you get the hang of it quickly, plus it's fun sharing your meals with your friends and spouse, it's interesting to see how others eat and what they enjoy more. read more

Queen Sheba opened in the strip center where my my nail place is, so it made sense to try since I'm there every couple of weeks. Only one table was occupied on Tuesday around noon, and the two men there seemed to be enjoying their beautiful avocado and tomato salads. They also had a humungous platter of food in front of them. The owner greeted and seated me, then handed me a menu with many meat and vegetable choices. I hadn't a clue what to order but saw a sampler platter option on the back of the menu. I asked if I could do that and my owner-server asked me what I would like. I said I'd try the spicy beef, the lamb, potatoes, and the veggie combo. My meal arrived on an enormous circular platter covered with injera, the traditional African spongy gluten-free flatbread. Mounds of the ordered entrees and side dishes were arranged around the circumference of the injera. Pieces of injera are torn off for scooping and eatingqqq. There was so much food! I commented on that and the server assured me he would wrap up whatever I didn't eat. The items were tasty but without texture. Everything was puréed; the scoops of meats and vegetables were of slightly different colors, but I couldn't differentiate and identify them. The smooth consistency is traditional, but I prefer my plate of food to vary in texture. I ate all I could handle and although I realized I hadn't received my salad, there was no stomach room to put it; so I didn't mention it. The bill arrived... and I was shocked. It was $31.00. I paid and my leftovers were brought in a large styrofoam box stuffed so full it couldn't close. I berated myself for paying the bill - and tipping - without question, so decided to call Queen Sheba when I arrived home. The owner explained that I ordered three entrees. Clearly my intent to order a sampler platter had vanished, likely due to a language gap and my lack of understanding the menu. I said that if I had ordered three entrees, I should have had three salads but didn't receive even one. I was told I could come in for the salads at any time. No offer was made to adjust the ridiculous and unfair bill. I blew it off. My low rating of Queen Sheba is due to both my non appreciation of the cuisine and the fact that I was taken advantage of. read more
