i never knew this place existed, until i came here with my family to view the sunset. on a cold,…read morewinter day, where the winds gusted to at least 20-25 mph, my mother suggested that we all come here a little before sunset so that we could watch the sun drop into the bay together. i thought she was crazy...i mean, i live on the west coast, where a winter day is about 50-55 and generally clear, so i would have no issues standing outside for half an hour gazing into the horizon. but since this was our family reunion and we wanted to spend quality time together, all 6 members of my immediate family packed into the family van and drove 45 minutes to st. michael's to honour my mother's wish. this trip did not disappoint. even though we arrived about 20 minutes before the sunset, and it was even windier along this jetty, the sunset on this clear day was absolutely gorgeous. we took turns standing outside and staring at the sun and hiding inside the warm van to shield us from the cold and wind, but just a few minutes before the official sunset time, we all went outside, to the very edge of the jetty and watched an absolutely gorgeous sun drop into the bay. it was absolutely breathtaking watching the sky change from blue to yellow-orange to orange to red. even though it was a trek, and it was very cold and very windy, it was totally worth the trip to see this gorgeous sunset. so mom, i don't think you're crazy anymore, you are absolutely right, and i will keep in mind that the next time you ask me to do something to remember that "mother is always right."

Marble monument of Edgar Allan Poe [Baltimore MD]…read more Located on the southeast corner of Fayette and Greene Streets inside the Westminster Hall and Burying Grounds is the Edgar Allan Poe Grave Site and Memorial. Street parking. Unfortunately at the time of our visit the gates to the Westminster Burial Ground were closed and locked but we were still able to see the headstone between the iron fence in the front corner of the cemetery. How sad that he died at a young age of only 40 years old. I didn't realize that our visit on MLK Day, 1/20, was just one day after his birthday ( Jan 19, 1809-- Oct 7, 1849). On the headstone the incorrect date of Poe's birth was engraved. He was born on January 19 not 20) Poe's full name is written in capital letters on the base. Review #3668

Walked around the grounds in March before most plants had come out. Liked the planted area called the Larry Franz Woodland Walk. At the back of this area, walk past the ribbon tied on a tree. Then go down a steep trail to circle back along the Ma and Pa Trail to the parking lot. Good to see the snowdrops, crocuses, hellebores, dead leaves, and fungi on tree trunks! Without leaves, you can see further through the forest. Slippery when dry! Some steeper trails are slippery as the dry leaves slide over rocks hidden under the leaves

The location is perfectly located for wedding at St. Marks Church is Fallston (~10 minute drive). The venue is a little pricey (~$3000 + insurance for an early slot on a Saturday in October). But it's worth it for the gorgeous setting. I also liked the back entrance where I was able to sneak upstairs and get my dress bustled before having to see all my guests. We came down the main staircase (which the florist was able to decorate) as we were introduced as a couple for the first time. We did not have dancing but did have yard games set up. We used one portico as a bar area and the outside terrace area for cornhole. We had a giant jenga set as well on the concrete terrace area. You do have to pick from a specific list of vendors when it comes to food. They have Dean and Brown on their list though which is one of the highest rated catering places in Harco. Overall, the wedding went off without a hitch and I am so glad that I held it at the Lirio!

The way back was much better and close to sunset so a beautiful view. I took my time as people drove past me, so don't be afraid to take your time or put your hazards on if you need to. Stay on the right lane and don't look down is the advice my coworker gave me and she was right :). On the way back there were 3 lanes open so I took the middle lane. Grateful for this bridge and the access it provides!

It's a major transportation route, known for its impressive engineering and scenic views. The bridge is also a tourist attraction, offering unique perspectives of the bay. It takes about 20 mins to cross. Be careful when it's windy as that can cause some heavy steering work. All in all as I say with all my bridge reviews, it did its job which is to get me from one side to the other safely!! It did that so I can't ask for me!
