The customer service at the highest level is absolutely absurd. The Director of Sales (Jeff) does not care about his customers and refuses to take responsibility for his/their mistakes. He continually makes up excuses/holds "the company line" for various problems we've had. If he doesn't have an excuse, he altogether just blames us (the customer) for things that aren't even the buyer's responsibility. The quality of work has been substandard for nearly 8 months, as we've watched the house go up nearby our rental. As with many other homes in the U.S., they're being built by illegal aliens who come here with no trade and learn while on the job and building your house. We're also using Lennar's affiliated mortgage company/lender, UAMC. This was also a mistake. A loan officer in Orlando told me two days before closing that Lennar in Fort Myers didn't order our VA appraisal in a timely manner and even though they notified us of a closing date/time 6 weeks in advance, the Fort Myers office decided to tell us the evening before closing that it wouldn't happen until the following week. We had arranged movers, other contractors, furniture deliveries, utility service transfers, time off of work, relatives to babysit our kid from miles away and now - sorry, you'll have to rearrange everything. Jeff told our realtor that it was our fault and said we should have followed up and contacted the VA appraiser?...WHAT!! Also, the building portion was mismanaged the entire time by their so called, "superintendant". The day of our walk-through, there were door hinge pins/hinge screws missing, closet doors that didn't close, gouges in our tub, outlets installed incorrectly and handing over the backsplash, major property grading and drainage issues (which they refuse to correct), plus every sliding glass door frame was severely scratched. There were nearly 60 items to correct before we even go to closing and this doesn't include the major issues like grading.. Lennar's attitude from the very beginning has been lackadaisical. Although I have heard complaints from fellow neighbors, I don't understand why I haven't seen many complaints about this builder on the web. I can truly say that this has been the worse experience we have ever had, especially building a house. If I could warn everyone I would, but I guess Yelp is the next best thing - do yourself a favor and stay away from Lennar and UAMC of Fort Myers!!
