This was my situation: my family home was unoccupied for a brief period while my mom recovered from some severe health issues. The house was checked frequently, but not frequently enough to catch a leak from our supposedly top of the line new roof. Before we realized it, mold had colonized every area of our house. Upon hearing a description of the situation multiple mold remediation companies suggested I hire an environmental consultant/mold hygienist to figure out the type of extensive protocol needed to deal with the contamination and damage our house sustained. I contacted Heather and she made time to come all of the way to north Florida from Orlando to assess our house. Heather scrutinized every inch of the building and then clearly laid out a description of our options. Since UES does not do the remediation/restoration themselves, they provide an unbiased assessment of what it will take to fix your problem and give you a healthy space to live in. Heather gave me lots of feedback on damage control and what matters most during restoration. She told me what corners absolutely could not be cut, but also provided suggestions on how to do some of the work myself, if I decided to take that approach, and on how to rescue, clean, and restore our most valuable possessions right away while insurance dilly-dallied with our claim. Heather's report was scientific, comprehensive, and invaluable to my mom and me. She stayed in touch with us long after she had a direct role in the situation and was very responsive at all stages. I wanted to hire someone mostly to give me peace of mind and ensure that we didn't have any underlying mold issues before entering the muggy, hot, rainy summer months... aka the perfect breeding conditions for mold. Now that we have a baby in the house, I just wanted to take some precautions. We've all been under the weather fairly often over the past few months, so my paranoia set in. We live in an older bungalow style home, so I figured it wouldn't hurt to check just in case. I connected with Elite Mold Services and a member from their team gave me a call to walk me through their services, how it work, and pricing. I liked that they were very transparent & thorough in their explanation of the process. I decided to move forward and they were able to schedule one of their inspectors to come the next day. I received updates and their agreement via text message. Eduardo arrived promptly on time to complete the mold assessment. He was very kind & professional, explaining what he was doing along the way. He inspected the entire home both indoors and outdoors, as well as the attic. They use special technology to detect moisture behind walls and on surfaces. He paid careful attention to my main areas of concern including the baby's nursery and the bathroom. He did detect some moisture behind the walls of the shower, as well as some mold growth on the outside of the HVAC unit in the attic. We agreed to his suggestion to have the mold in the attic tested to make sure it was not inside the HVAC system, impacting our air quality. He took a sample of the mold (it's $80 for each lab test which they told us up front) and we had the results back within about 5 days. They provide you with a detailed report of the inspection and any lab results, as well as any remediation suggestions & resources for preferred vendors. Thankfully they didn't discover anything that was too much cause for concern which definitely gave me the peace of mind I was hoping for. Now that we have some areas to be cognizant of, we provided the report to our landlord to take further action before they become a problem. I have still felt very unwell and have lived in absolute fear ever since. I am constantly checking humidity levels and trying to figure out if there could still be issues somewhere since my health has continued to get worse and worse. My master bathroom showed some water damage on the drywall near the baseboard and I decided to make an appointment with Elite to have the drywall cut out and have the inside looked at to see if I had finally found the source of mold that must certainly be making me feel this badly. The technician cut out a large piece of drywall and looked into the wall, said it looked good and saw no leaks so they sealed the bathroom off and ran scrubbers for 24 hours etc...... all the basics. When they were done, I noticed a lot of white matter on the wood inside the wall. I asked if that was mold? I was told "I don't know. Mold can be all different colors". I was offered some kind of spray be sprayed all over the wood to "treat it". That was it. Then my boyfriend replaced the drywall for me. So I paid an obscene amount of money for drywall to be cut out and I still don't know for certain if what was on the wood was mold. I could have cut out and replaced the drywall myself. I gained zero information or clarity from this process.
