We purchased our home largely because the inspection they performed came back clean. Just DAYS after closing, we started experiencing major foundational issues--with water literally pouring into the basement. We've had four separate basement and foundation experts come out, and every single one said the issues should have been caught during inspection. We now need $30,000 in foundation repairs. On top of that, our AC unit is too close to the gas line, which is not up to state code and also should have been flagged. We've tried reaching out via email, phone, and text--and have received no response to remedy the issues. Extremely disappointed and frustrated. This inspection will cost us tens of thousands of dollars and enormous stress. Avoid Wiemann at all costs.

He spent a few hours going over the entire house. Then the VERY SAME DAY he sent us a very thorough 40 page inspection report with a ton of information about everything from small electrical issues, to insulation in the attic, to water heater issues including photos of everything! Thankfully nothing major was wrong with this house but he did help save us so much time with issues we would have discovered down the line. Neal took the time to explain everything to us and even worked on our time frame as we are out of state buyers. Pillar to post Jeff Vry, inspector…read more Leaking basement walls He pointed out where an obvious repair had been made, but overlooked multiple other areas with stains and where carpet had been removed, revealing rusted carpet tacks. The original repaired crack leaked with the first 3" rain. 5 separate cracks required repairs. Bad windows He did not mention the Inefficient basement windows, that rattle in the wind. Wiring The house breaker box had multiple un-terminated wires Attic He did not even look at it. He just reached up and snapped a couple of pictures. There were large bare areas with no insulation where new wiring had been installed and the insulation was not replaced. Landscaping Mulch had been piled up against the fence and the house, causing moisture problems, as well as inviting pests Roofing issues He pointed out potential issues where chimney vents might not be installed correctly. These turned out to be okay, but he entirely missed the roof vents that had large blobs of tar which would prevent water from draining properly. The first large rain of 3" revealed a leak in the southeast vent. Investigation revealed that the previous owners had tarred over an 8"knife cut across the upper edge of the vent. Besides the roof repairs, the bedroom ceiling also now needs work. Flooring He failed to notice the cracking of the vinyl plank flooring in the main walkway, due to uneven subfloor and poor installation. The kitchen flooring will need to be replaced.

I appreciated he wore a mask all the time (correctly, too!) His inspection was extremely thorough, and he didn't mind me tagging along the entire time peppering him with questions. It took around 3 hours, I think. I also had them do the scope of the sewer system.
