Won't be staying at this #QualityInn ever again...maybe not @choicehotels at all. Price is good, but man was our last stay there both disappointing and bizarre--even after offering several friendly moments of feedback to both the local hotel staff and to the corporate office.
I should have picked up on the challenges from check-in after the front desk clerk cheerfully told me the pool was open til 10pm on this sweltering day, only for my son all swim suited up to discover green algae water (pictured) & a padlock on gate. Other clues upon check-in included a dirty washcloth still in the shower on arrival, a disgusting stain on an upholstered chair, and dirt on the sheets.
No housekeeping service on the second day also seemed unusual.
I tweeted @choicehotels, receiving the following reply:
"Oh no! We completely understand your disappointment, Chuck! We'd like to bring this to the hotel owner's attention. To do so, could you DM us your conf#, arrival date, name on the reservation, and hotel's name? We'll be waiting for your message. -JC"
--which I mistakenly took to mean that some corrective action would take place. Seems to imply action, no?
On Day 3, towels were actually replaced, trash emptied and beds made (though still convinced sheets were not clean and should have been changed). But no replacement cups or toiletries....even after 2 nights. Had to go down to the front desk for more shampoo.
The sole redeeming factor was how kind the clerk was and apologetic she was about the shampoo.
She even wrote a note for the next day's manager, and I thought things would improve.
In the meantime, once the conversation with @choicehotels had shifted to direct message, they told me I was on my own and that they would do nothing until after I had checked out.
On Day 4, towels were refreshed but beds not even touched (2nd photo).
DM to @choicehotels was again a nonstarter...was told to talk to local management again and expect action. I talked again to the front desk clerk who was sympathetic but that was the end of it.
Thanks for reading my epic review. No intensity intended. Just resigned that that's just the way it is at #QualityInn these days. read more
