This beautiful and peaceful property offers so much from a person needing to get away, to a romantic couple retreat, groups, family events, etc. The restaurant served a wonderful dinner, but unfortunately/fortunately; breakfast was missed! Due to being able to sleep in! Whether you like basketball, tennis, frisbee, golf, volleyball, sitting around the fire pit, picnicking, canoeing/kayaking/paddle boarding, or just feeding some horses; you can do so much here! This is one of the most charming country B&Bs I've ever seen. A little country inn it is NOT. It is a sprawling property in the most idyllic scenery on the shores of the Tennessee River, and has ten or so meticulously maintained cottages, houses and even land for sale. It has the honor of being one of America's Inns of Distinction, and solidly deserves that reputation. Everything here was in order and absolutely impeccable. The Whitestone is owned by very religious (Christian) people and it makes no bones about its orientation. Nevertheless, is a most welcoming place for all people of all walks of life. Entering the several thousand-acre property, one goes through a carriage house and then up a hill to an old schoolhouse for check-in. There are golf carts, things to do for the kids, things to do for adults, and the meals are absolutely wonderfully prepared, down country cooking with a classy touch. An amazing place. Starting from the top: I just got married at Whitestone inn, when I first signed my wedding contract we were dealing with the wedding department,the woman in charge of the wedding department ( Barbra) was phenomenal! She was knowledgeable and quick to respond. Then randomly we were passed off to the events coordinator. Emails stopped getting responses, suddenly every time we called to confirm details she was off property. We got sent a bill for $2,500 dollars more than what was agreed upon, then we were unable to contact her for most of the day. While communicating with the venue and other vendors I routinely heard " I have NEVER heard of a venue doing this before". It felt like the front desk was just running interference, I heard the phrase " I can send her a message but she is off property today" so many times I am thinking of getting it tattoo'ed on my neck. During the stress of wedding planning Whitestone inn added even more unnecessarily. When we showed up for our rehearsal and set up day we found that people would be staying in the lion and the lamb reception hall. So the morning of our wedding we were finding random people walking around looking at our decor and cake. Walking around if you look at the whole venue it's gorgeous, from a distance everything is perfect and it's probably nitpicking but there were spiderwebs, dead bugs, and dust in a lot of corners in the chapel. When we showed up for our rehearsal at the chapel we showed up to a closed, lights off, chapel with no one there to greet us. When we called the venue we got the same message " I will leave her a message" and we promptly let ourselves in and had to wait an hour for someone to come and show us what we can and cannot use. Once we fully realized that we are on our own and unfortunately cannot rely on the events department for timely assistance we were able to get everything set up and leave for the day. I was able to have a meeting with the property owner who was phenomenally helpful, he was able to explain a couple of things that helped lift a ton of stress off our backs. He even gave us his personal cell phone number for anything we could possibly need. Honestly he is the reason this isn't a 1 star review, he is an honestly nice guy. All in all the grounds could use a bit of work but we are just coming out of winter so maybe they are still shaking the cobwebs out. I unfortunately cannot recommend Whitestone inn for wedding or large events but if you are looking for a place for a weekend get away the rooms in the lion and the lamb are beautiful and well kept. read more

Hubby and I visit here once or twice a year for a stress free getaway. Food is amazing. Staff is terrific. Rooms are perfect. Views are spectacular. I always get a spa massage and they do a wonderful job. We have been coming here since we found it 10 years ago and will continue for years to come. read more

I work here and this place is amazing. They treat everyone that stays here great but not only that their employees get treated like family as well. It's a beautiful place I mean the scenery is just absolutely amazing it's breath taking. I've been here for Lil bit and even though I work here if I needed to take a break from everything I would stay here. The view and the decorations as well as the atmosphere is what I consider top of the line. The meal was described as a "dining experience" as compared to just eating out. The food is above average and the desserts are out of this world. Too expensive for me to do it on a regular basis, but a nice treat for special occasions. read more

Pleasant reservation process and initial discussion with hotel staff. Stayed in the Chickadee Suite. Had EXCELLENT dinner and EXCELLENT breakfast w/ the most insanely good blackberry turnovers. Food is out of sight. Would go back for that alone (and many people apparently do). Recipes for many dishes are on-line. Wonderfully congenial host, who made our 11-year old nephew feel comfortable. Good activities, although we only had time to hit some golf balls into the small pond. (It's OK - you're supposed to do that. Not an environmental issue.) Probably a great place for 3-4 days of down time. We stayed in the Chickadee Suite, which is pleasant enough, but is completely carpeted. Due to allergies, we need a wood floor room. We'll inquire about that next time. Note that there is nothing wrong with the Chickadee Suite - it's just that we are unusually susceptible to dust and the like. read more

What's happened to our favorite place ! WE all way go for special occasion and all ways enjoy it from the atmosphere to the food so that means we go about twice a year .We only come for the food we do not stay at the Inn this time it was like they have lost caring heart the manager would come out tell a little about the Inn let us now if we needed any think he be glad help and pray over the food ,none of that happened .The young lady that waited on us was sweet and served us will .The food was terrible first apparently they have raised there price we had fried chicken $29.95 we could have gone to any fast food that is now for fried chicken would have been a 100% better then that .our guest that we brought there for their birthday and we have brag about the Inn to them so much had 10oz steaks $45.95 that where supposed to be cook medium where medium well. We could not even figure out how they cooked them ,the potato we thinking they where supposed to be twice bake potato but they didn't get cook enough to do that so they slap cheese on top and called it a potato skin that you couldn't eat because it was to hard , The appetizer, salad where good and there're wonderful pie was great .sorry to say we will not be back . read more

Just spent a very peaceful night at Whitestone Inn Bed and Breakfast. It's a little of the beaten path, about 10 minutes off the interstate but it is well worth the drive! It's in a bird sanctuary on Watts Bar Lake. It is soooooo peaceful. A full breakfast is included in the stay. There are walking trails, the lake, bird watching and lots of different activities but my favorite thing to do there is read a good book in peace! The rooms are beautiful and big! The grounds are beautiful and the staff very friendly. It is definitely my choice for some time alone and to celebrate special occasions. My husband has taken me there for our anniversary and for my birthdays! I just love it! My favorite dessert is served there - Whitestone Delight! Yum! We also went down with a group for a Christmas Banquet! The place was lit up everywhere! Gorgeous! And they have carolers and violinists playing and special programs that time of year, too! read more

My husband and I stayed here for our honeymoon and it was PERFECT! So romantic and cozy and relaxing. The breakfast was delicious, the staff was friendly and helpful, and the amenities were clean and met all our needs. We stayed in the Purple Martin Suite, which has a private hot tub on the balcony. First time to visit Whitestone for dinner. Long drive out there and beautiful sunset however so disappointed with dinner. Arrival at dinner with no one to greet you had to walk around and find someone. No alcohol served, can BYOB. Corn chowder soup tasted like eating corn from a can no creaminess at all. Cesar salad was mediocre at best compare to buying at grocery store in a bag. I ordered rib eye medium rare came out medium and very chewy,I will say horseradish butter on top was very good. Rice on bottom of the steak was absolutely inedible. Vegetables were tasteless and small portion like out of a frozen steamer bag. Portions for my friends that had chicken entree was this tiny piece of chicken that was ridiculous for the price charged. My friends pork chop was burnt and when she complained they gave her steak sauce. Dessert was their signature Whitestone pie which was tasty but I did not expect it to be in ready made frozen pie crust. No coffee offered and service was poor. I did appreciate the prayer before dinner very much with the manager but she never came back to check on us. The room was nice that we ate in but soft music and fireplace on would have been nice. Can't say I would return but I would like to. read more
