We got a pet room, and it was NICE! Clean and didn't smell like dog butt. I'd stay here again!

Enough so that it's my main hotel wherever I visit Kingsport. Location - 5 out of 5 - beautiful views of the mountains but also easy access to the highways. There are restaurants and fast food nearby if needed. The building - 4 out of 5 - well maintained and clean. The rooms have reasonable wear but were in good condition. Comfort - 3 out of 5 - about what you would expect from a hotel bed and pillows. The room I stayed in this time (415) was rather large which was nice. Room amenities - 4 out of 5 - basic amenities such as microwave, fridge, coffee, and basic toiletries. What I really liked was the number of outlets. A total of about 10 in the room and 2 on each side of the bed. Also had basic USB in at least 3 of them (no USB-C). Though I didn't use either, they do have a pool and gym. Service - 3 out of 5 - everyone that I came into contact with was friendly, but then again I didn't come into contact with many people. Food - 3 out of 5 - basic breakfast food, nothing flashy. Always have hot options as well as cereal, yogurt, fruit. They switch up the hot options for those staying longer than a night. If visiting Kingsport, I highly recommend staying at this hotel.

Cereal. ‍ Okay, now for the review -- *the first thing we experienced was the front desk staff member. He was the epitome of friendly, accommodating, and welcoming - and precisely who I would want as the face/hands and feet of the company. Super nice guy! Grateful for his help in getting us a room in the dead of night on a busy time. Also the morning staff?! SO FRIENDLY! My kids said "give this place 100 stars" *the room -- we stayed in a king studio suite and there was plenty of room to spread out with a king bed and a pull-out couch bed (kids were so happy with the soft mattress). The room and bathroom were clean and everything in the room worked! *the breakfast spread -- plenty of options! My favorites? The omlette was delicious and the waffle station was great! Our coffee was fantastic as well. All in all? Wonderful stay! If you're in between Knoxville and Bristol in TN and need a room for the night, this location is such a little gem! **The pool is outdoor, FYI!

The next morning at check-out he was reluctant to give me a paper copy of my charges. I checked my credit card statement when I got home. He had charged me TWICE for the room, only changing the cents amount on the 2nd charge. BEWARE OF SMOOTH ACTING SCAMMERS HERE.

The La Quinta Crooks WARNING: THESE GUYS ARE CRIMINALS!!!!…read moreDO NOT STAY HERE. You can read all the other reviews about what a nasty place this is - I'll just stick to the scam we experienced. On Saturday, January 3rd, 2026, my wife and I got off the highway at the Tri-Cities exit and stopped in at the La Quinta Hotel to inquire about a room. I asked the clerk how much it would be for a room for the night, and he told us it would be $85 plus tax. I told him that would be fine. He asked us for a picture ID and credit card, so my wife, who is Japanese, showed him her Japanese driver's license and gave him her Visa card. He did not supply us with any paperwork at that time. The following morning when we went to check out, a different clerk was working the front desk. He gave us a printout showing that we had been charged $109 plus tax. We explained that we had been quoted a rate of $85 plus tax, and he said he was very sorry but that the accounting had been completed and there was nothing he could do to change or refund the discrepancy. However, he did give us the name of the clerk from the previous evening, a Wilfred, and the name of his manager, David Johnson. I can assure you that these were not the names these gentlemen were given at birth as English was not their first language, and most likely not their real names. I called the hotel the following week and asked to speak with David Johnson. The man to whom I was speaking refused to identify himself but said he was the manager and could handle my call. I explained the problem to him. Without contacting Wilfred or anyone else, he said that the room rate should have been $99 plus tax and that he would reduce the charges to that amount. I told him I didn't care what the charge should have been in his opinion, I only wanted to pay the rate that had been quoted to us. As I was trying to explain my position, he began to chant la, la, la, la, la, la, la so loudly that I was unable to communicate any further with the man. I then tried to contact customer service at Wyndham Hotels and Resorts, the parent company, and was passed around repeatedly until someone finally took down my complaint. I was contacted by email a short time later and told they didn't plan to correct the problem, that I should take the matter up with my credit card company. It's not so much the $24, which, if the manager did what he said, would be reduced to $14, but I don't like being ripped off. The night clerk and the manager are clearly in cahoots on this. They lie to people who are just passing through to make sure they don't go down the street to find a better and cheaper hotel, then charge a higher rate and disappear in the morning so they don't have to speak to the disgruntled guest, leaving that duty to a completely innocent and oblivious morning clerk. The manager didn't even try to contact the night clerk before giving me his answer. Why? Because he knew perfectly well the scam they were pulling. I just want to make sure this doesn't happen to others.

Located adjacent to Dollar General and residential space, its a little tucked away and off the road at an awkward angle in between E. Stone Drive and Lynn Garden. When you exit Stone, you have to make a sharp U-turn almost into the Dollar General parking lot to access Super 8. The room itself isn't bad. Its not new, yet not terribly old. You can tell that the furniture is slightly dated. I stayed on the second floor within the rear of the property, which allowed for greater privacy. There is plenty of parking, and the WiFi speed was good. Breakfast is pretty much coffee, juice, waffles, cereal and toast/cinnamon bun items. The rate was reasonable at $65. Given its location and the winter storms that shut down access into both Bristol and Johnson City, I considered the room rate to be good at the times of my stay. I greatly appreciated the customer service given by the employees, in addition to the GM, Mr. Jeff Pecor. He really looks out for the guests. While he has staff that completes regular housekeeping & night audit duties, it was welcoming to see him assist his staff members by shoveling snow while also engaging guests in a friendly manner. One very professional GM that I appreciate. Overall, I would rate this property a 3.5, yet Yelp won't let me do that. I hope that they could get a few more breakfast items rather than having the bare minimum continental breakfast standards. The rooms aren't bad, yet could be better. While there are other hotel/motel options further down the road (i.e, Red Roof Inn) as well as into Kingsport, this Super 8 is an okay option if you want to stay close to the main hospital area (1 mile away) as well as main shopping access that you would find on E. Stone.

The one star is for the young lady who brought me clean towels- as the room had none when I got there - and a clean blanket that didn't reek of smoke and wasn't dirty and full of burn holes. Wyndham really needs to step it up and have some pride in their properties!
