Stayed in a queen room for one night over the weekend. The check-in process was smooth and seamless. I booked online a few weeks prior and just had to show my ID and card for incidentals. The building only has two floors and we were on the second. There are a set of stairs, no elevator, right in the lobby. The lobby was clean and had a few chairs and a TV. The stairs weren't steep and were carpeted. The room itself was fine. It was clean, but a little outdated. I did enjoy the local photo hanging above the bed. The bathroom was clean, but also could use a little face lift. The parking area outside was large enough to always find a spot and seemed safe and secure. The location of the hotel couldn't have been better for our weekend in Harper's Ferry. read more

Very clean for a Quality Inn. Front desk was kind, talkative and helpful. The breakfast room is WAY too small. Only 3 families or approximately 10 people can fit in there at a time and it's still overcrowded. I paid extra for a "mountain view". The AC fogged up the window, so there was no view at all. It's also right on the highway side. The AC was loud enough to drown out the noisy trucks. I slept great on a comfy bed, with clean sheets and no noisy neighbors. Last night Tony and I drove down from Morgantown to Harper's Ferry WV and spent the night near the Shenandoah River at the Quality Inn it's off Rt 340 between Harper's Ferry and Bolivar, WV. The hotel is older but nice. We stayed in room 114 and was pleased. The king size bed was comfortable, cable TV adequate and room clean and comfy Definitely recommend and will stay again if in the area. They offer onsite laundry for guest and a full Hot Breakfast. As a Gold Member of Choice Hotels I was awarded 200 Bonus points. Very pleased!!! read more

The room booked for us at Quality Inn Harpers Ferry WV had a bad musty smell. We could not switch due to no other rooms available. The toilet also backed up during the middle of the night, and we had flushed no solid matter down it. We had to leave the room and go to the hotel gym in the morning to use a bathroom there. We weren't even offered an apology. This was an absolutely horrendous experience, especially considering the premium price of almost $185.00 including taxes and fees for the one night. We were stuck in that room with that horrid smell and an overflowing toilet without recourse or recompense. read more

Terrible customer service. I had booked online reservations over a week in advance then had to cancel like a day later due to something unexpected. The online company said the reservations were non-cancellable per the hotel. WHAT?! I called the hotel, explained my situation and the lady at the desk said she would have the manager call me back. The manager never called back, so I called the hotel again. The lady at the desk said the manager said the reservations were non-cancellable because they were for three nights?! At this point, it is still more than five days before the reservation starts. DO NOT BOOK RESERVATIONS AT THIS PLACE!!! THE WEBSITE IS VERY DECEPTIVE. On their website, if you click on the room reservations like any other normal hotel, they give you prices and don't tell you it's non-cancellable. 1st don't reserve using Expedia's Hotels.com because if you need to cancel this hotel is POWER LESS and will not converse with Hotels.com. 2nd the Staff is not well trained to answer concerns by phone their clerk clearly answered my request to cancel as complete only to fine out I am still charged $96.31. While I actually stayed at another Choice Hotel an hour away. Had the clerk said we can not cancel we would have driven the extra hour even though it was very late to avoid the loss of our funds. I will not recommend a Quality Inn, Hotels.com, or Expedia to anyone. The day clerk said had I reserved directly with them they would gladly return my money. Go Figure. read more

This Quality Inn is perfectly adequate for a quick stay in Harpers Ferry, especially if you're on foot or bicycle. It's in close proximity to historic old town Harpers Ferry and the Appalachian Trail. However, the hotel seems really old. There's a pervasive, damp, musty smell throughout. It's in a cellular dead zone and the wifi is super slow. My room was well-appointed with a removable rainwater shower head, sizeable refrigerator/microwave and down-like pillows. It was very quiet and I slept well. Staff was courteous and considerate. Breakfast was toast, waffles, microwave sandwiches, cereal, yogurt and fruit. Breakfast is a great time to swap stories with other thru-hikers and cyclists. Overall, this hotel is fine for one or two nights. Anyone looking for swankier/newer accommodations would probably be better served at the Clarion up the street. read more

First of all when I pay $191.00 including tax for a quality inn you know you will not be completely satisfied. We picked this hotel for location rather than other options further away. Staff was friendly and the facility was clean. I mentioned location. It is about one mile from the downtown river area. We walked the mile which is very hilly. It was very hot. On a cool day it would have been a nice walk. Nothing at all around the hotel as far as restaurants and bars. read more

Didn't seem to be doing COVID checks- no temperature checks but really not much interaction with other people in the hotel. We stay at Quality Inns regularly and found this one to be a little less than normal. It is older, and they appear to be trying to upgrade as they can. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Found it odd that to sign in to their WiFi, they asked you to rate them before you logged in. NOTE no elevator, inside stairs. Breakfast area VERY small. read more

I stayed at the hotel with my children for a friends wedding up in Harper's Ferry. Everything was superb from the staff when I first checked in to the check out and everything in between. The room was very clean, the white sheets and blanket made me feel right at home and everything was clean. As soon as I arrived in the parking lot I noticed dirty stained mattresses outside along with towels which did not make me feel comfortable at all. As soon as I arrived to my room I noticed an awful stench of cigarettes in my room which was advertised no smoking. The stains on the wall made me un comfortable along with the stains on the pillows. It didn't feel clean or anywhere close to a quality hotel. I noticed little bugs in my bed as well I thought it was my imagination but then kept noticing about 5 or 6 all together under a pillow (bed bugs?). I also woke up to police lights outside of my window at around 11:30. About three or four police where outside the hotel I'm not sure what for but I would presume this isn't the nicest safest area. I also noticed an animal cage outside the hotel in some bushes. The people staying next to us we're very loud too. Overall not a good hotel I did not have a good experience at all and I do not recommend at all, I've never wanted to leave a hotel more !!! also didn't seem to have a lot of covid precautions in the hotel felt dirty! read more

What can you say about a $70 motel room in WV that no one has already heard? We didn't know Charles town races and slots doesn't have a hotel attach to it. So we went down the list of lodging on the GPS. We found this little gem a few blocks from the slots. Funniest quote of the night "is this place even in America?" I would've prefered camping and washing up in the potomac. The extra star is for the friendly attendant. read more

The Econo Lodge in Harpers Ferry saved our butts because the bed & breakfast we booked cancelled our reservation for my birthday weekend without notice! The day before we were due to arrive by Amtrak, my husband and I were scrambling to find somewhere to stay and nowhere had any rooms available. I called the Econo Lodge and spoke to an incredibly sweet woman not only got us a room, but also gave us a substantial discount. The room was quite nice, the breakfast tasty, and the staff super helpful. The reason why this isn't 5 stars is because unfortunately, there are no sidewalks on either of the streets accessing this hotel from Harpers Ferry! It was not ideal for us, since we had taken the train in and were walking everywhere. There were a lot of cars, so I wish there was a way to get there with sidewalks. Overall, it was great and we had a lovely time in Harpers Ferry! read more

I am used to staying in Marriots for $89 per night so I thought this was really expensive to be $20 more than that and way lower quality. Apparently it was very busy there and the room we were given was a handicapped room. That isn't a problem but it was weird to take a shower where there is no tub and to have bars on the sides of the toilet. The bed was fine and the room seemed clean. There was a 'continental breakfast' in the morning which meant cereal and a waffle maker. We passed on that. Although I really wanted coffee and was upset that they were out of it. Sheesh. I know I could have made some in my room (it did come with that) but I decided to just wait until we went out for breakfast. It would be more fun to stay in an inn to get the full experience of Harper's Ferry but those book up fast and are probably expensive. This is a good place to stay if you are just looking for a bed for the night. read more

This was a great place to stay while I visited Harper's Ferry NP. It is literally down the street and if you are a walker, it is a perfect walking distance for getting steps in with much to see in between. Dawn is great and helpful as she allowed me to check in early once a room became available. The room was clean and so was the facility. The Quality Inn is a great place to stay near Harpers Ferry. We are riding the C & O Canal and this hotel is close by the trail (2 miles away). The breakfast is great, staff is friendly and Anthony's Pizza delivers. There are no restaurants near the hotel, so delivery is a great option. Their meat lasagna is the best. They also have a hose out front to hose off your bike. read more

DO NOT STAY HERE! Stayed here w 4 other families for a hike on the AT. Had many issues to include being charged for a night I did not stay- This is what happened; When I made the original reservation on the website the date did not change to the correct date that we were staying ... I showed up and all of the other families had rooms but me ...it was an obvious mistake. Front desk looked up that day and they said "Yep you were a no-show" "But as luck will have it, we can give you a reduced rate tonite ..." We are stuck, with 2 children so we paid for 2 nights ... I made the error or computer made the error- the problem is this: Manager (I cannot pronounce her name it is too many letters) would not show her face, answer phone calls, and had the front desk answer for her "so sorry hon but she told me she ain't gonna give you your money back she's on a vacation" *Have to say front desk Anne was as nice as she could be trying to deal with MIA management for several days.... Choice hotels was more assisting than this mgr and has promised to help me, recognizing that this was an error ( keep in mind, the hotel was not by any means booked on this night- so mgr would like to just keep my money for kicks at this point) Manager finally did call me back but had zero compassion and told me that I should be happy and remember that they gave me a room at the original price.... OMG, who does this??? Stay where there is real live management, who will not cheat you, care, have compassion, appreciate your business and want you to return, not here. If I could add a sixth star I would, this place made my family's trip to Harper's Ferry unforgettable. We arrived at night by train, and had no ride to our hotel. The owner was off-duty, but the front desk gave him a call and he came out to meet us and bring us to check-in. The staff went out of their way to offer us incredible hospitality, help, and generosity. Close-ish proximity to downtown Harpers Ferry with plenty to do along the way. Rooms are cozy with windows that open (!!) and free hot breakfasts. I'd stay here again in a heartbeat. read more

Stayed at the Quality Inn after a day of trail running on the AT with a buddy. We were both pleasantly surprised with the staff's customer service going above and beyond any other hotel. Pros: 1. Immediately greeted by Assistant GM, Allan Gee, before we even entered the hotel. Great guy! 2. Dean and Allan quickly checked us in and made sure we were squared away. 3. Complimentary toiletries in case you forgot anything or just packing light from being on the AT. 4. Rooms were extremely clean. 5. Harpers Ferry doesn't have Uber/Lyft service and taxis are expensive so Allan is willing to go out of his way to shuttle you downtown and even pick you up when you're done. I was blown away by this and it was so convenient. You don't see service like this anymore. 6. Complimentary fresh coffee 24/7. 7. On-site washer and dryer. 8. Complimentary hot breakfast with waffles, eggs, biscuits & gravy, and more. 9. Conveniently located about 100 yards off the AT. 10. Complimentary Wi-Fi. 11. Great price! Cons: 1. None In closing, I haven't experienced service like this in quite a while. I would recommend the Quality Inn on Union St to anyone visiting Harpers Ferry or hikers looking for a place to rest off the AT. read more

One wouldn't necessarily think "Econo Lodge!" for a romantic getaway, but I'll say: it certainly did the job for me and my wife recently. Making spur of the moment plans for a weekend get away to Harper's Ferry ruled out any classy B&B (which would have to be booked well in advance) and AirBnB (which didn't have any good local options). So why was the Econo Lodge great? -Reasonable price. -Location is less than a mile from the center of Harper's Ferry (the ONLY hotel this close). You can walk into town either along Shenandoah Street or the Appalachian Trail. Both are scenic. -Breakfast is a definite step above the usual carb-loaded continental fare at most bottom-tier chains. The food options weren't quite as large and diverse as you'd get at a Hampton Inn or Homewood Suites, but you at least get some protein (Eggs, sausage, yogurt) and there are several nice touches (like biscuits and gravy. Mmm...!). -Updated rooms. The furnishings and bathroom had clearly been redone within the last few years and looked just as nice as ones you'd find in newer 2.5 or 3-star hotels. We watched a couple World Cup matches on the large flat-screen TV when we weren't out exploring and were more than happy to stay in and relax. -Fridge and microwave in the room! Dining around Harper's Ferry is generally unimpressive, so being able to keep and reheat your own food from elsewhere is a plus. -Reliable and sufficiently fast Wi-Fi. (Especially nice since the cell network is spotty in the area, but we had no trouble using Wi-FI calling.) -Somewhat scenic view over the river and nice grounds with a gazebo, etc. Sure, there were a few strange things - like one morning they put out completely green bananas (which wouldn't have been ripe & edible for a week), and the switch nearest the door in our room controlled an outlet to which the alarm clock was plugged in (so we had to reset it after accidentally shutting it off once). But whatever. Grab a different piece of fruit from the basket, avoid flipping that switch and move on with life. We're not high maintenance people and neither were most others who were there for the history, nature or who had come in from the Appalachian or C&O Canal trails. For the price, location and amenities? The value is great. read more

This is one of the most hiker friendly places we've stayed on our thru Hike so far. Dean was super great when we checked in. He was helpful and polite even when things got a little confusing. He was also wonderful in working with us to get the best rate possible. The room was really clean and the king bed was AWESOME! The rate was certainly a little pricey for 2 (around $100 after tax), but well worth it if you have a little extra to spend. Especially if you're a hiker! read more

My husband is thru hiking the AT. Harpers Ferry was our meet up spot for a few days reunion. The people working here are friendly and helpful. Most of the guests are hikers, bikers, cyclists, rafters, or outdoors people. Let me just say, the staff caters to these people in such a way as is heartwarming and will restore your faith in humanity. There was a gentleman who required a hospital stay due to a cycling injury while we were there, and he was really looked after. There is a continental breakfast, laundry, and if your room is ready before check in, you are in. It is close to the trail, Harpers Ferry NP, restaurants, Walmart, and pharmacy's. If you pretentious and are seeking luxury then this is not your place. The only hiccup was the internet is sloooooow. We tried to upload videos to my husbands Youtube channel with zero luck, the local library has good internet and isn't far, but I had a rental car as I flew in from FL, but there is a great local shuttle service which caters to hikers, etc. that is almost always available. read more

The first non-smoking room they gave us was smokey so we went back to the desk and were given a new room which was way better. The only complaint I have is that the air conditioner was super cold and we could never get comfortable. Other than that, it served it's purpose of being a clean place to stay and the continental breakfast was their regular fare of waffles, eggs, bacon, sausage and all the other easy foods. read more

I'm not really sure how to review this Econolodge. It was clean enough (my disinfecting wipes on the remote, switches, knobs and other touchy surfaces showed no visible dirt) but the carpet looked so dingy and I smelled moldy mildew so bad that I did not sleep well and thought I would be sick. My husband did not smell it so I did not report it as I may have imagined it (I don't think so). The shower took a LONG time to warm up and the tub was filling up pretty fast while trying to warm it up while the water was running to the tub but not when the shower was on. It was quiet enough and everyone was super friendly. The breakfast was great. I would find something different next time though. read more

After reading the negative reviews, I thought I should give an update. Thought the room was neat and clean, but not perfect. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Free wi-fi was a great addition. And, the free continental breakfast was a nice start to the morning. After reading one of the reviews (AFTER I booked the room!), I was concerned about a bedbug massacre on my body. Thank God the attack never came! My husband also noticed old mattresses outside in the trash , so they are probably renovating. Keep in mind, this an Econolodge not the Ritz Carlton. Don't expect more than what it is at this price, but definately would stay again. read more

this place needs some adult supervision: 1. car horn in parking lot went off every hour waking virtually every guest up including me repeatedly. When questioned in the AM, the staff said "oh, my police officer friend wasn't on duty so i didn't call the police". Suggestions: take license plate numbers to match a car to the guest; call cops; if all else fails, tow it away. 2. very loud, poorly maintained hot water heater. sounded like a popcorn maker - ran the whole night. several room at least affected. "oh so sorry" 3. place was full on a Saturday night. "free breakfast" was swamped. could not even get coffee. suggestions: when full, you can't just have one small coffee carafe; have additional staff when full. Don't stay here if more than 50% full. They cant handle it. (no coffee happened twice in the same AM - i did not even try to eat something) 4. so, not being able to get the free coffee, i went back to me room because i remembered a small coffee maker. Opened it up....yuck...filthy. No credit, no discount. Avoid this place at all costs. read more

Cleanliness in a hotel is very important. Being that we are in the midst of a global pandemic, cleanliness is absolutely crucial for the safety of hotel guests. I was shocked and disgusted by how dirty my room was at the Quality Inn. I was given a room on the first floor. In the bathroom there was hair in the shower as well as chewed up gum stuck to the side of a tissue box. Absolutely disgusting! I brought the tissue box out to the front desk and the woman working there was very helpful and gave me a new one. There is a microwave in the room and in front of the microwave were crumbs. There was a cobweb on the light on the wall next to the bathroom. The lamps on the night stand were dusty as were the cords on the nightstand. A hotel being outdated doesn't bother me but a hotel that is dirty is unacceptable. The washer in the laundry room takes coins and the coin holder sticks. I had to go to the front desk about that and again, the woman working was very kind and helpful. I could not connect to the wifi. On top of all of this, most of the guests were not wearing masks. This room cost me $141 which is criminal for what I got. I paid $151 for a much, much better hotel in Georgetown in D.C. the next evening. If you care about cleanliness do not stay at this place. read more
