I have stayed here many times over the years and it was never the nicest hotel but over the last few years this place has been showing its age along with increasing evidence of deferred maintenance. During my most recent stay the entire hotel was looking rough while my room was just nasty looking throughout. The location is great but for the price they just don't measure up anymore. For the current rough condition this place is in they shouldn't be charging more than $25 a night! They are far overdue for gutting and redoing all the rooms and replacing all the worn out cheap furniture that is falling apart. Overall the only positives are the location and the staff seems to be doing the best they can with the decomposing mess they have to deal with. read more

I usually give places some grace, but this stay was beyond bad. Our group had four rooms for three nights, and all four had major issues. There were cockroaches, dirty rooms at check-in, broken toilet seats, nonstop running toilets, TVs that did not work, and key cards that had to be reprogrammed constantly. One room had a door that would not lock from the inside, and in another, the AC cover fell off in the middle of the night. We were even told the TV cords had melted in a utility room. Housekeeping was incredibly rude, and the whole place felt neglected. This was not an isolated problem. It felt like a complete breakdown in maintenance and management. read more

Place is the best price for staying downtown, but you get what you pay for. The staff is friendly and does great with what they have, but this place is in serious need of updating and regular property maintenance. Many of the rooms lack workable locks, the vents are dusty, and water drains from the roof down thru the stairwells. Plus their parking lot is also used by the city for charged parking so retain your hotel bill to get out of parking tickets from the city. TVs are worn out, showers are old, floors are defaced, and the furniture is antiquated. WiFi is weak and their log on screen they turned to white lettering on a white background so it's a bad guessing game. So, limit your expectations! read more

I checked in on February 26, 2025. The bathroom had dog food kibbles in the corner under the sink. The toilet seat was broken, hair was around rim of the toilet seat. My visit at this location contains both pros and cons. The pros of this location is the staff was both friendly and accommodatin. Now the cons is the floors in both rooms were filthy (my original room number was 103), I switched rooms to 105 and i laid down 2 bath towels on the floor that's where I was able to see the bed bug that was on my son's shirt. I notified the front desk who then came to the room and verified that it was indeed a bed bug. She was empathetic and allowed us to sit near the front desk while I switched my itinerary to return home. I do not recommend this hotel to anyone. read more

Here's the rundown! So I needed a room for a week long conference! Online the pictures look like it is a relatively good hotel/motel so I booked a few months in advance.... BUT upon arrival it was not as it seemed! The staff was AMAZING and did what they could to accommodate with what they have to work with! What drew me to this place was the quirky old school vibe THIS PLACE HAS SO MUCH POTENTIAL BUT THE PROPRIETOR SHREE KRISHNA HOSPITALITY HAS TO FIX THINGS!!!! Half the rooms were not able to be used due to maintenance issues, the outside was very dated, all the elevators but one was broken, some of the rooms had broken handles and I will come back to this in a bit...the furniture could use some updating but even if not updated a little TLC on the worn spots (polish with a stain to hide some imperfections can go a long way) . My room was as clean as it could be considering the conditions. Now back to the other room, so I'm here a week my room had no side chair, reading lamp, and the bedside lamp had seen better days SO....I made lemonade from my lemons with the ok from staff I moved the items I needed from a broken room. NOW IT NEARLY LOOKS LIKE THE WEBSITE I say all that to say this..... There is so much potential here but SHREE KRISHNA HOSPITALITY has to give this place the TLC it deserves!!! I stayed three nights at this hotel, and it was better than a lot of five star. Hotels I've stayed in. The room was exceptionally clean. All appliances worked. It was in a quiet location. Beds were comfortable and staff was very friendly. I had all my stuff scattered about the room and asked for no housekeeping. But they called me just to make sure I did not want any housekeeping or extra towels. I like that extra effort to make sure that I have a nice quiet comfortable stay away from home. This is hands down the absolute worst place I have ever had the misfortune of staying in... we reserved a king suite, the first room they put us in had only one of four lights that worked, thankfully, because as my husband went to the front desk to see if we could get lightbulbs I had the misfortune of looking around and seeing how dirty the room actually was! There was yellow stuff running down the inside of the door and the room wreaked of weed. The young man on staff was completely unapologetic but ended up moving us to a different room that was only slightly cleaner but had many serious issues. There was an outlet cover that had fallen off the out let that was just left laying on the floor, the smoke alarm was disconnected and laying on the counter, the freezer was frozen over and unusable, there was holes in the wall, and the floor was so disgustingly dirty that when we dropped some water and used a towel to wipe it up the towel was literally black with filth! The next morning my husband went to the front desk to discuss the cleanliness of the room and spoke to the young woman and even showed her the filthy towel, still no apology barely even acknowledged the absolute disgust! All she did was turn to the housekeeper and tell her our floor needs mopped. Housekeeping did come and mop but not well, the outlet was STILL laying on the floor!! Following a terrible night sleep because of the rowdy noisy crowd I got up and showered, by the time I went to put my shoes on, my feet were black on the bottom!! The floor was still that dirty! This hotel should cost less being that it is EXACTLY what you would expect from a $50-$75/night motel. It should not cost more beyond that because it does not look or act like a hotel/motel that should cost more. I understand that it is in the middle of the historic district of downtown Mobile, but that should give it all the more reason to up their game and be worth the price that is paid for it. We stayed because we were going to an event at the Civic Center and this hotel is right across the street from it. If it wasn't for that reason alone, I would have stayed somewhere else, and I just may the next time. Here are the reasons I say that: The TV was fuzzy the WHOLE time, while other TVs, like in the lobby were clear. There was NO bathchair in the roll-in shower accessible room. The hot water took 20 minutes to warm up to even enjoy taking a shower. The AC unit was a good 6ft off the ground and could barely be changed, if a person in a wheelchair traveling alone needed to adjust it they could not, thankfully my husband, who is in the wheelchair, was not and I could but just barely. The floor made my feet black, like it had been cleaned to look good, but not really cleaned beyond that. There is NO grab bar anywhere around the toilet area, if a person fell around that area it would not be good. The hotel needs to fix these issues and take a little pride in their historic building if they are going to charge upwards of $140/night. read more

Many complaints were related to the rusted lamps and their moldy shades, or ceiling damage. Yes, those were apparent, but I am not even going to BEGIN with those. We were given the wrong key: the room was already occupied and the poor folks at least had the door locked and were lucky we didn't walk in on them, or it could have ended badly. I could have gotten past that situation. Embarrassing and inconvenient, yes. But not a HUGE deal. Then we walked into our actual room. First thing I noticed was the dirty and warped decorative picture frame. Strange. Then, as I opened the fridge, my finger was covered in a layer of dark dirt. The trash can was caked in dirt. The room smelled of a zoo pond, or a monkey cage; no exaggeration. As you could guess, my bathroom experience was not a good one. The shower had gunk, there was a dead bug in the corner, cracks and water damage in the ceiling, and rust surrounding the toilet. Lovely. Unless none of this bothers you, and power to you if it doesn't, then by all means stay here, but I advise against it. PLEASE read the other reviews. Saving money sounds nice and all, but this feels like a whole waste. read more

Why oh why didn't I read the reviews HERE before I stopped at this hotel? Bottom line: Sleep in your car. You'd be happier. I'm sitting in the lobby. I've been here more than TWO HOURS at this point, waiting. It's crossed the line into absolutely hilarious to the point I'm only still here to see HOW LONG the front desk will ignore the fact that I am patiently waiting for a key to a room that works. And I'm leaving as soon as they finally get me a key that works to any room in the damn hotel. I just want to see how long it takes. So, while I am waiting an INSANE amount of time, it seemed like a good use of my time to write a review. Everywhere. I'm on my phone's cellular connection because the hotel wifi isn't working. There are moldy ceilings in the lobby area with water dripping, peeling paint everywhere, and only God knows what it's like INSIDE the rooms... it's terrifying. I stopped here because I'd been driving all day, I was exhausted, and it was the closest Choice brand hotel. Huge mistake. I don't have a room. Despite being a "Diamond Elite" member and booking the most expensive room in the place, front desk doesn't give a f*ck. They gave me keys to a room. Didn't work. So I went back to ask for new keys. There were 16 people (not kidding) in line. About an hour later, I FINALLY had a new set of keys. Still didn't work. Back to the front desk. Waited endlessly again. This time the gal walked up to the room to prove to me there was nothing wrong with the key or the door. She couldn't get in either. So I came BACK to the lobby to wait... and wait... and wait... and wait... after being told she'd switch the room an hour ago, I'm still sitting here. I guess I should have realized when I first walked in and the front desk was venting about the customer who asked for a room on the first floor because he had a bad leg. Her comment, "I ain't seen no bad leg, he walked just fine, but he gotta be a problem." Seriously? Why would you say that to another customer (me)?? Based on the decals on his vehicle, the man was a veteran. I don't care who you are or what kind of bad day you're having, don't treat a vet like that. Absolutely the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. Exposed wiring in all 3 rooms we were shown. The rooms had visible mold and were filthy. The sheets and comforter were dirty and replacement sheets had cigarette holes in them. I think maybe 1 light in the entire room worked. I am amazed they can charge $133 a night for any room at this hotel. This is one of those hotels that they do news stories about! And come to find out, they have done one on this exact hotel and the deplorable conditions. I will never stay in a Quality Inn or a Choice Hotel again. Strange that they stuck us in such a strange room when lots of others were available. I would think the fire Marshall would not appreciate the broken smoke detector! Furthermore, the hot water knob in the tub completely was broken. No cold shower for me, so we had to leave more dirty than we arrived. The door stuck and made a horrible noise when enough force was applied to open it. The safety latch was completely broken off . Looked nice from the outside but was mistaken. There must have been a flood in the room above me because the ceiling was falling in. The ac was very old and noisy, was barely able to keep the room cool. The bed had some sort of plastic cover under the sheets that sounded like I was laying on a trash bag. The only thing good about this place is the room seems to be renovated recently. But that's about it. And here are the reasons I don't like about this place: 1. We were driving from Houston to Florida. It was the late night, me and my husband were very exhausted. However, we couldn't find a parking spot when we arrived the hotel. The hotel parking lot is full. (but the staff told us we can go to the public parking lot across the street and they refund us the money the second morning after seeing the receipt) 2. The entire building facet is just old and smells like second-hand smoke. It smells especially bad in the elevator. 3. The room smells moldy. 4. The drain in the bathtub is just disgusting. It's draining super slowly and I had to unclog it myself. And I'm really going to puke after I saw what I got out of the drain: lots of human hair, a condom, and some paper. read more

I was traveling to AL, and came to Moblie since i liked the way the hotel looked on line. when we arrived, Donna (Front Desk) was amazing, super nice, and friendly great customer service. When we got to the room after traveling for 5 1/2 hour with 2 kids (1st - 2 months, 2nd - 22 months) we noticed right away, that the floors were extremely dirty (i have pictures that i can send, also posted on facebook, where you can see too). We were going to deal with the floor situation. So we went to dinner and when we got back we noticed that there was alot of guys hanging around, and we didnt feel safe. We quicky got into our room, and locked the door. After this we noticed right when we walked into the room it reeked of WEED!!! We don't care about weed, it is what it is - it doesn't bother us UNLESS IT COMES TO MY CHILDREN BEING IN A ROOM THAT SMELLS SO BADLY OF IT. This was my last straw. Just saying if it was Myself, i would of been fine, but the fact that i had 2 children under 2!!! This is why we changed, since we had 2 children under 2, yes I mention it again, since I want you to understand, we had to change hotels at 10 at night!!!!! i went to the front desk where Donna was, she ended up telling me that Jarred Cooper - CM/Director of Sales, was only going to refund me one night, even though we just checked in. Disgusting and falsely advertised. I don't even know where to begin. We thought we were getting a good deal for $120.00 a night. I have stayed in much nicer motels 6s than this "trashbag" as my friend's daughter so aptly called it. Leaking rusty toilet. Dirty floors. Literally the smallest, sketchiest elevator I have ever been. We're on the third floor and I only rode in it once. A huge dehumidifier in our room. Outdated TVs with unclear picture. Pay the extra and stay at the Holiday Inn across the street. ----Well, this was the initial review then I decided to inspect our bed and discovered a dirty, stained comforter, including an unknown substance that looked like dried blood. We asked to change rooms at this point. The new room was basically the same but lacking a gigantic dehumidifier and the blood stains were replaced by urine stains. The toilet was filthy and actually had feces dried inside the bowl. But what could we do? We booked through Priceline so we couldn't cancel. I poured listerine all over the toilet, countertop, sink, and floor and went to work scrubbing. Wiped all surfaces with a listerine soaked rag. Pulled the comforters off and top cover and slept on top of the flat sheet with our own blankets. Turned the lights out...we can do this. Just sleep! Two minutes after lights out my daughter screams and jumps out of bed. "Nope! Nope!" She says. A bug almost crawled into her mouth. The noise of did not stop until after 1:00. And I barely slept. But the mattress is comfy if that matters when you're in the middle of filth. And y'all there are nice cars in the parking lot including a $70,000 Jag. This isn't some ghetto. Checked in around 10:00 pm and there was a loud partying outside. The walls are thin and I hear people talking in the room next door or possibly above me. The room smells very musty with a strong sweet coverup spray odor. I would not recommend this motel. For the price I stayed at several Best Westerns for very close to the same price during my travels. Unfortunately BW didn't have low rates here. I guess because of Memorial Day weekend. This is one of the approved places that gives the military rate and is approved by the govt. we walked in and immediately I smell mold. Room appears clean at first glance but upon further inspection we noticed the bath tub was dirty with hair in it, the inside bathroom door knob was falling apart, paint peeling from bathroom ceiling and bedding was dirty. My husband requested a new room to which they kindly gave us however walking into that wasn't anything better. Still smells of mold, and although the bathroom was MUCH CLEANER, our floor was dirty to include a freshly stepped on cockroach. As a new members to the Choice program, I have been staying as much as possible at Choice hotels to gain top tier status as quickly as possible. I am already top tier with other major programs so I am a little spoiled to the benefits. I made this stay in order to help escape up the ladder and I am glad that I did. The stay was very affordable. The exterior of the property is well kept. Check in was quick and easy! Access to the room was easy and the hallways were clean. Entering the room I found a spacious design with a king bed, sleeper sofa, microwave and refrigerator with a wet bar area and eating table. The bathroom lacked in linens but I requested more. The AC was VERY effective. The room was quiet and time uninterrupted. Breakfast was good providing hot items as well. I would recommend this hotel. read more

The location was great, but if you can stay at another hotel, I suggest you do so. The rooms look refurbished and updated, but they smelled like smoke and mold. Don't stay here. We're giving a room with no sheets on mattress. Mattress pad was dirty. Had to ask for blanket for couch bed. Floor was filthy. WiFi didn't work. Reviews from a month back said WiFi didn't work then. I looked to make sure this hotel had a tub. They do, but no stopper for tub. Very disappointed. Your basic breakfast. Bed was comfortable.
