Bed bug
Antionette D.

My visit at this location contains both pros and cons. The pros of this location is the staff was both friendly and accommodatin. Now the cons is the floors in both rooms were filthy (my original room number was 103), I switched rooms to 105 and i laid down 2 bath towels on the floor that's where I was able to see the bed bug that was on my son's shirt. I notified the front desk who then came to the room and verified that it was indeed a bed bug. She was empathetic and allowed us to sit near the front desk while I switched my itinerary to return home. I do not recommend this hotel to anyone.

Here's the rundown! So I needed a room for a week long conference! Online the pictures look like it is a relatively good hotel/motel so I booked a few months in advance.... BUT upon arrival it was not as it seemed! The staff was AMAZING and did what they could to accommodate with what they have to work with! What drew me to this place was the quirky old school vibe THIS PLACE HAS SO MUCH POTENTIAL BUT THE PROPRIETOR SHREE KRISHNA HOSPITALITY HAS TO FIX THINGS!!!! Half the rooms were not able to be used due to maintenance issues, the outside was very dated, all the elevators but one was broken, some of the rooms had broken handles and I will come back to this in a bit...the furniture could use some updating but even if not updated a little TLC on the worn spots (polish with a stain to hide some imperfections can go a long way) . My room was as clean as it could be considering the conditions. Now back to the other room, so I'm here a week my room had no side chair, reading lamp, and the bedside lamp had seen better days SO....I made lemonade from my lemons with the ok from staff I moved the items I needed from a broken room. NOW IT NEARLY LOOKS LIKE THE WEBSITE I say all that to say this..... There is so much potential here but SHREE KRISHNA HOSPITALITY has to give this place the TLC it deserves!!! Overall, after the first initial SHOCK OF THE PLACE! It was a nice stay!!! Pics of the revamp

Towel AFTER they mopped the floor

This is hands down the absolute worst place I have ever had the misfortune of staying in... we reserved a king suite, the first room they put us in had only one of four lights that worked, thankfully, because as my husband went to the front desk to see if we could get lightbulbs I had the misfortune of looking around and seeing how dirty the room actually was! There was yellow stuff running down the inside of the door and the room wreaked of weed. The young man on staff was completely unapologetic but ended up moving us to a different room that was only slightly cleaner but had many serious issues. There was an outlet cover that had fallen off the out let that was just left laying on the floor, the smoke alarm was disconnected and laying on the counter, the freezer was frozen over and unusable, there was holes in the wall, and the floor was so disgustingly dirty that when we dropped some water and used a towel to wipe it up the towel was literally black with filth! The next morning my husband went to the front desk to discuss the cleanliness of the room and spoke to the young woman and even showed her the filthy towel, still no apology barely even acknowledged the absolute disgust! All she did was turn to the housekeeper and tell her our floor needs mopped. Housekeeping did come and mop but not well, the outlet was STILL laying on the floor!! Following a terrible night sleep because of the rowdy noisy crowd I got up and showered, by the time I went to put my shoes on, my feet were black on the bottom!! The floor was still that dirty! We were supposed to stay another night but we just couldn't! We ended up leaving a day early.

Another spot with water actively dripping from the roof

Do not, I repeat do NOT stay here! I can't be leave the condition of this room! When management was alerted they offered us "dirty" towels to clean it up ourselves! When we told them we want a different room they said they have none available, this hotel is 4 stories tall in one section and 5 in another, the majority of it looks abandoned. I refuse to believe they didn't have an empty room that could have been cleaned and made in better condition for us.

Dirty socks. Five minutes of walking in the room husband noticed his socks.

GROSS. Gross. Gross. Do not stay here. Do not say oh I'm gonna save the money and stay here. Please. Worst hotel I've ever been in. The list goes on and on. We had two rooms. Our room was a first floor suite. Black mold on lamps. Floor was dirty. Roach followed us in the room. Our phones didn't work in both rooms. Micro wave and ac didn't work in the other room. Black dusty spiderwebs hanging from ceilings. Door had scribbling and hand prints on it. Lock on door was broken. Pull out sofa had sex stuff in it along with food and change. Rooms wreaked of mold and nastyness. Do not stay here.

Greasy surfaces

The entire hotel needs a makeover. The only savings grace were the front desk attendants.

I was trying to relax in the infrared steam room and could not enjoy it due to all the noise. I saw others being offered champagne and mimosas and I was never asked. BUT despite those small things, the massage is what I was there for and Tera knocked it out of the park. She really has heavenly hands and was phenomenal. The check-in and valet staff as well as the Bell staff are always very friendly and attentive. On our last day, the Bell stand went out of their way to assist us up to the room. Again, very friendly and helpful. This is a clean and safe property. It is my preferred hotel when I stay in downtown Mobile. I average around 100 Marriott nights a year around the world, and this is absolutely in my top 10 favorite properties and maybe in the top five. I wish the Trellis room (restaurant) was open for dinner on weekends, that would be my only feedback. Management does a great job ensuring the property is clean and safe, as well as ensuring well trained and courteous staff.

However it was 8:30am and I still had not received fresh towels. I decided to email management. I did not have the manager's email, so I went to the front desk to ask. I asked the front desk receptionist Mark if Hiral Patel was the manager, because I saw the name tag on the wall. His response was very hostile and aggressive towards me. His response to my question caused me to feel that he would physically harm me. That is when I decided to record him. The only thing that I asked him was if Hiral Patel was the manager. Mark responded and said "That is the only person that you need to talk to tomorrow." He had no manners or respect for me. I then told him that I did not receive clean towels by 8:00am ; because that is when the audit employee at the front desk told me they would come. He continued to raise his voice at me and he also called Alabama Protection Agency to escort me from the property. The Protection officer was holding his gun holster, as I was in the hotel room preparing to leave, and also in the elevator. I thought that he may have wanted to shoot me. I was non-confrontational the entire time of this situation ( I have recording of every interaction I have made with employees and staff).

Cool citrus shampoo, conditioner and soap. Close to Panda Express and other food. Big TV and fast internet. Check-in staff was friendly and helpful. Only negative was someone was speaking Spanish really loud below my window for an hour waking me up at 6 AM. I didn't have the air conditioner on over night and am on the second floor, so the windows don't seem to be very sound resistant.

I checked all my hotel apps and found this Marriot Property that was highly rated and affordable for the price. The hotel looked newer and the rooms looked very modern and clean. Check-in was seamless and I found myself in a very large room. The room was set up perfectly for a business traveller. The room had USB and electrical outlets strategically placed so there were ample areas to plug in my devices. The wifi was easy to connect to and had a very strong signal, perfect for connecting through a VPN or Firewall while still being able to connect to my streaming services. The room itself was very spacious, well decorated and almost a full-sized kitchen. My bed was very comfortable and I had a good night's sleep every night I was there. The property has many areas where guests can socialize and connect on the first floor if they don't want to just stay in their rooms. The lobby was bright with an array of tables and chairs to relax and connect to your devices. The Fitness center was above average and had a very good assortment of fitness equipment including free weights, exercise balls and multiple cardio machines. You can get a good workout in the gym. The food served at breakfast had a good assortment of hot and cold items, healthy choices and of course plenty of pastries, baked goods and very good coffee. This was the perfect location for being close to customers, and restaurants and for travelling in the area and into Mobile. I would put this hotel high on my list for future visits to the Mobile area. The only critique I have is that the rooms are very large and the TVs in the main area and the bedrooms are very small.

First up, the good: the room was clean, our room had a nice view, and the location was great; it's within walking distance to lots of restaurants and bars and it's easy to get on and off the highway. The service at check in and check out was also very good. The so so: The beds were hard, but not altogether uncomfortable. The shower pressure was also just okay and it would have been a lot nicer if the pressure was better, but it's not a deal breaker for a trip. Now the bad: the service at breakfast and at the hotel bar was downright atrocious and remarkably slow for a fairly quiet weekend. It took us almost 30 minutes to get our drinks after we ordered them at the bar and it took almost 45 minutes to get breakfast on a Sunday morning, which is unacceptable. The service at the wedding reception was also very poor and disorganized as if the staff weren't used to serving people in large groups. The food at the wedding reception was very hit or miss as some people really enjoyed their food while others (including myself) had dry and hard salmon, which was unpalatable. This is unfortunately not a place that we'd frequent again and we'd look elsewhere if staying in downtown Mobile again.
