    Gutters and edging falling
    David J.

I understand this is not a top grade hotel but, much upkeep is needed at this hotel. It appears they are not doing much reinvestment from their proceeds to keep it acceptable. Just keeping their head above the water per se. Good points: Clean looking in halls and rooms Organized throughout Checkin easy and quick Pretty fair hot and cold breakfast Struggling with: Printer not working Rain gutters and roof edging falling off in one area. Broken outside layer window glass on our room. Torn screen on another room. Water stains on many ceiling tiles. Missing or loose ceiling tiles in the stairwells. (They tried covering the ceiling tile stains with spray paint.) Debris in the pool Stained and somewhat cloudy water in the pool and spa tub Falling bracket on the wall that is supposed to hold the life preserver. Preserver just laying on the floor No shampoo...just bar or liquid soap and conditioner

In fact, breakfast was by far the strongest part of our stay; I can't remember the last time an HIE actually had both regular and egg-white omelettes like they're supposed to. Otherwise, our room showed wear-and-tear, but the climate control worked well and I got a good night's sleep. p.s. Getting there is a challenge. We were using navigation and still overshot the entrance, because we didn't expect to go through the Walmart parking lot.

So they went and got a new room, lo and behold they walk into ANOTHER used room where they met a naked man! Third times the charm, they finally received a good room. The AC in our room had been turned off for some time, it was hot and muggy when we first walked in, but it was easily fixed by turning it back on. The last group had dirty towels in their bathroom. For breakfast, the flies were ATROCIOUS. please get a fly trap. I was eating my food with one hand and swatting them away with another. Overall, I've seen way better Holiday Inns. I get it's a pretty small town and they may be understaffed or something, hopefully it's not them just being lazy, so I'll give the benefit of the doubt.

Who put that disgusting breakfast out (Yolanda)? I would love to have sat and watched as she ate…read moreit. The breakfast is my only biggest complaint about this Best Western Childress, Tx! It sits off the highway and luckily, my room did not face the street otherwise too much noise. Conveniently there's a McDonald's directly across the street, a great nail shop next door (Ten Nails, did an excellent job on my nails), Walmart .6 miles from the hotel and a Truck Stop located across the street and one next door. I met Julius, Yutis and Phillip all took excellent care of me during my 2 day stay, would I return? Absolutely just to enjoy good company and conversation. Hospitality at its best. I'm updating my review to1 star due to the fact I returned 5 days later around 6 am 7/19/25, the front desk lady Yolanda was allowing her 2 young children to eat but told me I had to wait until 6:30 am - RUDE and HIGHLY DISRESPECTFUL to a paying guest. I only wanted the prepackaged muffins and didn't want that dog food she put together from slop water and improper stored potatoes that clearly looked rottened. 1pm 7/19/25 2pm review My coworker ran out to of gas enroute to me, the front desk allowed a late checkout of 2pm, from experience on Hilton will allow such a late checkout time. Updated to a 5 star review for a warm hospitality experience.

This is not a positive review so BE WARNED…read more I booked this room several days before check in. Walked into the room with water standing in the shower and the room burning up HOT. No shower curtain. Used towels to wipe up the bathroom floor. Bugs behind the door and hair behind the toilet. Walked back to the front desk and told them the problem. Was told they had no other rooms and there was no offer to locate another room. So I get on to look to see if they had other hotels in the area and Lo, and Behold, they had 3 hotels listed as open on a Hotel Site for the SAME HOTEL. The maintenance guy comes and says- Oh, I see that there is a leak. As the conversation continues, we go from there being a leak in the shower to he will have to replace the shower but obviously he can't do that tonight. He keeps saying that you have to turn off the shower handles very hard and obviously since there is no shower curtain, there will be water on the floor. I ask again about another room and he says "We don't have another room downstairs for elderly." I said, what are you talking about? I never said that I could not go to a 2nd floor and WHO is elderly? Throughout the conversation, he kept referencing elderly. I ASSUME that he said that because I said that my mom had open heart surgery 2 months ago and I did not want her falling on a wet floor. So I guess he thinks that young people don't have open heart surgery or that a person of any age could fall on a wet floor. He left the room and came back after we asked for the room to be cleaned since we had no where else to go and they didn't give us another room and they half assed cleaned the room. When he came back, he then tried to blame the receptionist playing the he said- she said game. I told him that is not what I told the receptionist and I said that it that is what she told you, then she is LYING. The longer the conversation continued, the maintenance guy kept sticking his foot in his mouth more and more. He kept referencing elderly and my mom's age changed several times. I have travelled for 3 weeks and been in 9 different states staying in several hotels. I have used AAA and Senior Rates and this is only hotel that placed me in a "handicapped room" without even asking me. Clearly, this hotel does not understand cleaning or routine maintenance

Econo Lodge - Had a wonderful stay! Wish I could post more pictures. The pool & hot tube were great for relaxing prior to our long drive.

Everything is super clean from the parking lot to the Lobby, breakfast room, pool area, laundry to our room. After check in, the owner walked us to our room. He stayed to Turn on the a/c & make sure the room met our standards. The room is so clean, even the bathroom corners were spotless! One can tell the owner & staff really value this property and want returned visits. We wondered what a hot continental breakfast was. He has biscuits, gravy & bacon. Oatmeal, hot Chocolate, orange juice, fresh coffee, toast and a few more items. After breakfast we enjoyed the pool and hot tub. There is a shower in the pool area. There is a sauna for adults only, pool & hot tub. We suggested to the owner he install a half-step in the hot tub as being short, it was a steep step to get in. There were plenty of towels available by the pool. The pool area opens at daylight & closes at 10pm. Off the pool room is a rec room. There is a pool table, air hockey & fooseball table. This hotel uses actual keys, not the cards. Everything in the room appeared new. We slept so good on the comfy beds. Each bed had 4 nice pillows. I heard no noise at all. There was plenty of hot water and good pressure. There was no microwave, but there was a nice refrigerator. Our room had several wooden hangers, iron, ironing board & coffee maker. The ice machine is near the laundry and it is not a far walk. We were in room 115. Not only will we stay here again, we will recommend this property to you, our family & friends.
