    Hotel was very dirty when we arrived, and smelled of must. Carpet was not vacuumed well, and bath had dirt on the floor. It was not cleaned for our second night stay, either. Hotel staff did not send a cleaning crew to the room after my husband went to the front desk to ask for the room to be serviced. Instead of honoring our request, staff questioned him regarding whether or not we signed a waiver to not have the room cleaned. He asked for the manager to call him (he left his number) and the staff member assured him that it would NOT happen. We found torn curtains and an inoperable light fixture. We were in Athens for homecoming weekend and the condition of the room and lack of service left us feeling taken advantage of. (Room rates were jacked up for homecoming weekend, as well)

    I would say this hotel was good and you get what you pay for. I paid around $100 for a one night stay, and it was one of the lower costing hotels around. Firstly, the man at the front desk was so nice and I felt like a valued customer. I think his name was Jason or James, something with a J and he is truly such a nice person. That is the reason for the fourth star. Next, unfortunately before bed we found a tiny tiny red bug which at first sent alarms through my head because I thought of bed bugs, but after further inspection I have ruled it to be a clover mite. I only found one and I inspected every single sheet as well as the mattress too. Also, the pool and hot tub were nice and OPEN! I have seen a lot of reviews saying that they have been closed but I am here to tell you it was open during my stay. I will say I don't think the pool is heated though..... Anyway, my room other than the bug was clean and fine to stay in! I am excited to see what's in store for the breakfast in the morning. If I had 10 stars to give I would give them 7, the bug threw me off as well as the non-heated pool.

    Went to Quality Inn for a overnight trip with my boyfriend in Athens Ohio they advertised a hot tub. When we got there hot tub was not working and a woman told us it has not been working for years. We will never go there's again!!!! The hot tub was the only reason we went there.

    I am an OU alumna and sad to write this review. I have chosen the OU Inn for years -- not because…read moreit's the most modern option (it isn't), not because it's the closest to campus (it isn't), and not because the rooms justify the price gouging that comes with Mom's Weekend (they don't). I chose it for the nostalgia... and the sense that as a member of the OU community, this was my hotel. I won't be making that mistake again. Here's what happened: I booked a room for Mom's Weekend 2026 a full year in advance -- because that's what you have to do when a hotel decides that one weekend a year justifies a $500/night rate. Fine. Supply and demand - I get it. What I didn't get was any reminder. Every hotel I've stayed at across the world -- and I travel frequently -- sends a "We're looking forward to seeing you this week" days before check-in. The OU Inn, apparently, has not discovered this technology. Instead, I received a reminder email at 7:10 PM -- after check-in had already passed. Not so useful. When I called and acknowledged my own mistake -- I genuinely did forget -- I wasn't asking for a free pass. I asked only to cancel the second night, understanding I'd eat the cost of the first. The response? A rigid recitation of the 48-hour cancellation policy by River at the front desk. On a sold-out Mom's Weekend. When hotels in Athens are turning people away for months before. The idea that they couldn't rebook that room -- on the busiest weekend of the year -- is either dishonest or incompetent. And then the cherry on top: I received a cancellation confirmation email Saturday morning, which gave me genuine hope that someone with a pulse had reviewed my situation and done the right thing. Nope. Turns out the system auto-cancelled when I missed check-in -- and then staff **manually re-entered my reservation knowing full well I wasn't coming.** That is not a clerical error. That is a choice. I have kids at OU now. I will be making the trip from California multiple times a year for the next three years. I was fully prepared to be a reliable, repeat customer -- someone who picks the OU Inn on principle, even when better options exist. That's what loyalty looks like. What I experienced in return was rigidity, indifference, and staff that were, frankly, rude about it. To management: you had every tool to make this right. A waitlist. A goodwill gesture. Basic human flexibility on the most in-demand weekend of your year. You chose none of them. For $450 (refund for one night), you've lost a customer who was already sold on you.

    I'm in Athens for business and this room was booked for me by another entity. It's worth mentioning…read morethat this is a Quality Inn now, but the branding transition seems to be slow (including here on Yelp). Check-in was fine, though I had to coach the staff member on the fact that my room was prepaid and I should be providing a card only for incidentals. She was trying to charge my card. We got that sorted out and she directed me to my room, which was in the back building. Parking was limited near the entrance closest to my room, in part because there's a construction crew of some sort staying here and taking up multiple spaces with large vehicles and equipment. The room itself is fine. Like others, I noted a lingering smell of smoke in the hallways and room, though it was obviously not fresh smoke. I was briefly locked *in* my room because the deadbolt mechanism is seriously broken and pulling off the door. I figured out a way to make it work (and escape), but it wasn't a pleasant experience after arriving and then trying to head back out to meet friends for dinner. Other oddities: the lotion bottle left by the sink with other provided toiletries was clearly used. I requested a late checkout (only an hour late -- noon instead of 11:00am) and was told that would be fine. At 10:43, a housekeeping staff member tried to enter the room and said no one had told her about the late checkout. I was dressed so it was just awkward and frustrating as I tried to prepare for my meetings, made more awkward because she entered the room before the *standard* checkout time. I also happened to be in a room with a jacuzzi tub. Because it's in the main room, not behind a wall or door, and clearly shares a wall with the plumbing of the adjacent room, there were louder than usual noises of water running while my neighbors got ready for bed and then got up in the morning. Would not recommend unless you have a high need for a jacuzzi tub. Also the television in my room only got one channel. If you're in the mood to binge watch TBS from your jacuzzi tub, this is the place for you! It was fine for a night and the location near campus is convenient, but it wouldn't be my preferred hotel in the Athens area.

Other take aways-- Its a good distance from campus. The staff is nice. Easy to find. They have breakfast (not amazing but there are muffins!) Not a horrible price point.
