I'm not one to complain. I've travelled for work for years and understand things happen…read more That said, something needs to be done about the Hampton Inn in Alexander City, AL. My son is in the Army and when he gets to come home and visit, we put he and his wife at the Hampton Inn. We've had several issue with reservations and the lack of apparent training of the front desk staff; but I feel I need to bring up our experience this week: 1. Sunday, 1 June - I check my son and wife in, asking for a room from Sunday to check out Wednesday. It took the front desk person about 15 minutes to figure out how to do that and she eventually got help from what appears to be the housekeeping manager. 2. Monday 2 June - (I paid for the room), I get a call from the front desk asking why there is luggage still in the room. I replied that we got the room through Wednesday. Front desk person had no idea what to do and had to call me back about an hour later. 3. Meanwhile, they get locked out of their room and once again the front desk person can't get them another key. 4. I get the call back from the front desk person who tells me that they can stay tonight (Monday), but will have to check out and back into another room on Tuesday as the room they are in is reserved for Tuesday night. 5. Tuesday 3 June - I go to the front desk to recheck in for Tuesday night. A different front desk person can't handle this and has to call someone to help. After 10 minutes, she says we don't have a room for Tuesday night and there are no rooms available. So now I have no place in town to put my son and his wife. 6. This is either complete lack of training or incompetence by the front desk staff or each front desk person was not being truthful just to get me out of the way. Regardless this is really unacceptable and has really put us in a bind. I'm going to have to send my son 30 minutes away to get another hotel for tonight and I can assure you it won't be a Hilton brand. I worked as a front desk and a night auditor for hotels while I was in college and these tasks are not rocket science. Bottom line, this is extremely disappointing and inconvenient.

Not I am sorry for this problem just we don't have a room very rude. I will never go back. Terrible service. Because of this person Hampton/ Hilton has lost this customer. I will spend my money somewhere else.

I stayed here for a week to attend a meeting in Montgomery…read more The staff was exceptional. Check-in and check-out was quick and easy, and every staff member I interacted with was friendly. The room was wonderful. Very, very quiet. I never heard any of my neighbors or any traffic in the hallway. This has to be one of the quietest rooms I've ever stayed in, anywhere. It was clean upon arrival, and there were no weird smells or other oddities. One ding that made the stay much less bearable was the "smart" thermostat. Kudos to the chain for wanting to do something green and eco friendly, but seriously? Putting a smart thermostat in the living room? During the night, regardless of how you set it, it will go back to "away" mode. And of course, if you put it in the bedroom, it won't notice traffic in the living room. I enjoy sleeping in a cooler room, like 67 or so. Going to bed with the thermostat set to that and waking up to 73 was not enjoyable in the least. Once I figured out the trick, if I had to get up for a midnight run to the john, I'd give the thermostat some "activity" and all was good then. I enjoy having the fan running all night for white noise. The HVAC had this ability, but it was so quiet, it wasn't really worth it. Not a big deal though, since the room was pretty darn quiet overall. Plenty of hot water for the shower. Never ran out, never had low pressure. The pillows were all super soft. I'm seeing a trend with this. Seems like every stay I've had recently in hotels has featured soft pillows. Attention, hotel chains! Some of us like a firmer pillow. Mix it up maybe? With 4 pillows on the bed, maybe make 2 soft and two a bit more on the firm side? Plenty of outlets including USB ports, too. Super nice touch there. Since this was a Homewood Suites, there was a full sized fridge/freezer in the room, along with a microwave, stove, dishwasher, and kitchen sink. A set of utensils, plates, and glasses were also available. If you were staying here long term, you wouldn't have to go out to eat every night. The breakfast was good, no complaints there at all. The hotel has an outdoor pool, gym, and there are printers available. There's also a little barbecue area near the pool and an outside fireplace that appeared to be gas. One of the elevators needed a little maintenance, as the floor was damaged and needed to be replaced. There was also some minor repair needed in my room, with a towel hook falling off the wall and a leaking faucet in the tub/shower. There are definitely plenty of places to eat nearby. For longer term stays, shopping spots as well. Overall, the say was quite pleasant. I'd stay here again anytime.

You are still one of the best looking facilities despite your age. And, you have the best front desk people all shifts! I finally got up for breakfast. Everything was so nice and stacked up! First impressions:…read more --clean and comfortable feel hotel --cheerful and helpful staff --surprisingly empty lobby when we arrived and at breakfast the following morning (Thursday afternoon/Friday morning) Check in was "oh--so-easy" electronically ....except I simply could not get my "smart phone" key to work...but desk clerk politely provided me with a hard card. In fact....the obstinate App was the only down part of our stay (even the receptionist at the desk couldn't get it to work)....no biggie unless you insist on "no contact" check in/out. Apparently there is a casino just down the street....but we were here just as a stop over on a longer trip, so our interest was comfort....and we got it. Our room was spacious, roll-in shower was great (water pressure could have been a tad stronger - but temperature was easy to adjust and steady. Beds (2 Queens) provided a welcome respite from our day-long drive. Firs with a soft top and 4 pillows each. Hotel is close to the very quaint town and some good restaurants for dinner. You have your choice of local sports bar (totally jammed beyone capacity and beyond our care), Fast-Food, Mexican, Chinese-Asian-Thai, and others, plus a very nice Deli just down the block. In-house complementary breakfast was plentiful, varied and hot...or cold if you want just fresh fruit and cereal. Eggs-meh, sausage patty-yummy, flavorful home fries had a slightly "sweet hint" I could not identify, coffee was tasty and hot, oatmeal spooned very creamy....and the other offerings will have to be sampled on another visit
