My experience with Quality Heating was a nightmare. I called Quality Heating in June 2017 as my furnace was making this horrible thumping noise. They sent out a service tech who said the thumping was from my burners. He cleaned my burners and said everything is good to go, but recommended in spring 2018 to have my burners replaced. I brought up the soot on the outside of my cabin that was all over the logs. He didn't know why it was happening. I asked if my heat exchangers were cracked. The answer was. NO. He recommended to leave my pilot on to avoid condensation. Over Thanksgiving I called Quality Heating as I left the pilot on, but the fan was not performing correctly. At first I was told that's how a furnace should perform, then was told I needed a new fan switch, I was told by Jim it was on back order and he would call me when it came in. Jim set the date of December 28th for them to come replace the fan switch. We left the furnace set at 45 degrees only to come up on Dec. 26th to find our pilot was out. It was -26 degrees out. We had to keep relighting the pilot all day. I called Jim at Quality Heating at least 4 times and asked him to please send someone out. If we left and came back our pilot was out and our cabin was freezing. I called him again and again and his comment, "as long as you can get it lit I am not sending anyone." Finally after business hours our pilot went out and we were having problems getting it lit. I ended up calling Quality Heating's emergency number. They sent out a service tech. He looked at our furnace and said," it was our heat exchangers, it was too dangerous to relight and we needed a new furnace." He went out to his van brought these tiny ceramic heaters and said "it would cook us out." My husband made a comment ,"this furnace is only 7 years old and we only have used it a dozen times so in other words it's like buying a chainsaw and using it once and throwing it away." The techs comment was,"pretty much,"and walked out. Those heaters could not keep up with the cold. I called a different heating company and the service tech told me his credentials when he walked in my door. He actually had a license to repair furnaces. He took my furnace apart. First comment was, "that's not good." We were told the burners are corroded and need be replaced not cleaned because there is no way to get in the holes to clean them properly. The burners were burning on one side and that is where the soot in our heat exchangers were coming from. He replaced all three burners that should have been replaced the first time. Our pilot was burning a yellow orange instead of blue flames, so he replaced the thermocouple and our fan switch. He had all the parts right in his van. Our furnace is running terrific, we have heat, our pilot stayed on and it's warm. I CALLED JIM AT QUALITY HEATING ON DECEMBER 28TH AT 8am. I TOLD HIM THAT I CALLED IN A DIFFERENT COMPANY TO COME. HE HAD ALL DAY TO SEND SOMEONE OUT, KNOWING WE HAD PROBLEMS AND I AM NOT PAYING FOR THE POOR SERVICE WE RECEIVED WHEN I CALLED AFTER HOURS. I TOLD HIM IT WAS NOT OUR HEAT EXCHANGERS AND YOU TRIED SELLING ME A NEW FURNACE THAT I DID NOT NEED. HE ASKED ME WHO I HAD FIX MY FURNACE. I TOLD HIM AND ALL HE COULD SAY AS I WILL BE SORRY! NO, I AM NOT SORRY HIRING SOMEONE WHO ACTUALLY WAS QUALIFIED AND DID NOT RIP ME OFF. JIM TOLD ME THAT HE HAD TO GO ATTEND TO HIS CUSTOMERS WITHOUT HEAT AS HE CANNOT HANDLE CONFRONTATION. I TOLD HIM I WOULD BRING HIS HEATERS BACK as they are not mine. On December 29th I brought his heaters back along with the burners and the thermocouple so he could see it himself. He again asked me who told me they needed to be replaced. Jim, I am from Milwaukee a very big city with so many heating places and I have friends in the heating and air conditioning business and they all told me that burners should be replaced instead of cleaned. Even your own guy in June told me I needed to replace them in spring. You lied straight to my face when I was there saying your tech never said this. There are 4 witnesses that are willing to write a letter saying your tech said we needed a new furnace so what crap are you trying to pull. You have unqualified techs and you are rude and cannot communicate with customers. Minocqua may be small, but word of mouth spreads like wildfire in small towns. You have a temper and do not like to be told the truth or hear the truth. Your tech lied to you what was said or you are protecting your butt one of the two. I would never ever recommend anyone to you. You are unprofessional degrading another company and the way you think you can intimidate people the way you treat them. Well you met your match as I don't put up with a LIAR, If you would have sent a qualified tech the first time we would not have been going through this would we?
