This has recently become a huge issue for my business. We have been flooded with gems certified by…read moreGGL as natural stones. Unfortunately, these stones are either synthetic or simulants. How can a supossed legitimit Germological Laboratory make this kind of mistake in certifying obvious fakes as Natural gems. Here is just one example: A large puplish blue stone identifed and certified as a natural Tanzanite with an RI of 1.69-1.70. Accurate description of a natural gem however, the RI of the stone is in fact 1.715. This is not a Tanzanite and the only thing I can come close to is a lab created Spinel. My suggestion is not to buy gems with this certificate as they are most likely NOT as described.
