The appetizer assortment tasted like it had been made two days ago and been congealing on the counter ever since. I stopped at the second taste since it included fish. My main was Ceviche - a simple dish endemic to Central & South America where we spend allot of time. There was no lime or lemon juice to speak of, what little bit of fish was in it was rotten and stung my tongue (food poisoning alert!), and it had a gooey pasty consistency exacerbated by a sweet potato mush they'd squeezed over it. The presentation was simply barf-like. My husband had the fish that was tasteless but edible. I ate none of my meal. The waitress never asked why. The bill was high for the horrendous quality. Bleech! To be avoided at all costs including starvation!

What made the visit especially great were the owners, both Edouard and Christophe were super welcoming and the place was quite comfortable, so much that we made a stop there daily during our stay. The coffee and pastries were excellent, notably the "special mocha viennois" that I had on every visit. Our visits there truly made our time in La Rochelle all the more memorable. Merci beaucoup!

We figured it was good because it was crowded but there's actually not a lot of options on that side of the marina. One of the men lunged at me with an arm full of plates to intimidate me from waiting in the front. They don't honor any line system, no waiting list and people just walk up and cut the "line". I.e. a table for four came up and they went through the crowd looking for a party of four rather than take the people at the front of the line. Total waste of time for an 18 euro whole fish that was about 7 inches long and once I took the bones out, it had maybe 3 ounces of meat AND it came out cold. AND they played favorites with locals, and the crowd was strange. They let people smoke near the front and the covered tent filled with smoke. We sat toward the back and I suffered in the stinky trapped air. Just an all-around lousy experience with awful service and terrible food. This place is garbage.

Food is nicely served, touch pricey, but fresh, served with a smile, at one of the best view in town. Note : for 6 euros you have half a saucisson. The place at night, especially on summer Fridays turns into a dancing bar spot full of locals and some tourists flying around. Lovey evening to spend there while touring the island. Note this is the only option for late night drinking besides the bastion in town. Again, must go. Must try, try the cote de boeuf. A must. After drinks and food, go toward the bastion to dance till late.
