They would notify me (according to their pitch) when my subscription was ending and to expect them to automatically bill my renewal as if I didn't want it I would need to call and cancel. On January 10, 2011, weeks before the upcoming renewal I took the liberty of getting on line and canceling prematurely. I wasn't using the magazine and wanted to get ahead of their notification renewal post card. On January 27, 2011 I saw a hit in my credit card for the renewal rate of $19.95. I immediately called with all of my documentation, dates and transaction history to report their unauthorized charge and asked for my credit asap. When I was asked if there was anything they could do to help keep me as a customer I told him due to this unauthorized transaction, never again. I'm told I'll get my credit in 7-10 business days. To the rep's credit, she did provide me her name and employee ID number. Outside of that, this is a shady company with shady practices. I don't mind an "automatic renewal" with the clear terms as the consumer you have to call in to cancel, however, not only did they NOT notify me of my renewal, they simply charged my card without my authorization. Unacceptable and never again. Errors I don't mind, inappropriate business practices I do.

They did the same thing to me. I picked up my AEX bill and there was a renewal for Food and Wine…read more When I called they said the same thing "Your credit will appear on your next bill". A lot of good that does me when I have to pay my bill NOW. I will never buy another copy no matter how much I like it.

The Osprey Observer started publishing as a newsletter in 2001. The main focus was to cover community news and activities specifically in FishHawk Ranch. After the first month, residents started requesting more news from the surrounding community and we started to expand. We added the subdivision of FishHawk Trails, River Hills and Bloomingdale within the first four months and were printing more than 10,000 copies per month after only six months. Quickly we realized there could be unlimited growth to the paper and we had to strive to maintain a focus. What did we want to become? What continued to set us apart from the rest? The response is content. We are different because our stories cover the communities we are in. We wanted to maintain our reputation as a strong community newspaper despite our desire to grow. Our first goal was to identify 15,000 homes to include in the Bloomingdale/FishHawk edition and then to expand after 18 months into a completely new edition, Riverview. The Riverview edition started with eight pages and 10,000 homes and is now 36 pages delivered to 16,500 homes in Riverview and Apollo Beach.
