According to the paper's website it is the only African American publication in Florida that prints twice weekly and owns all its own printing equipment. The paper originally operated in Jacksonville, Florida In 1919 before closing during the Great Depression. It was reopened as a weekly by the son of the owner of that paper, C. Blythe Andrews, in Tampa in December, 1945 at 1511 Central Avenue. The Tampa Bulletin was purchased in 1959 and became twice weekly. In 1962 the paper moved to its current location of 2207 East 21st Avenue. It seems to be distributed mostly around the Sulphur Springs area of Tampa and I have not seen it much elsewhere. When I called The Florida Sentinel the person I spoke with was very kind. She was also familiar with my request and walked me through the process. She provided me with all the information I needed before going into the office to place the ad so I was well prepared. Because of this the process did not take long. The staff is very polite and knowledgeable.

Finally after 40 min on hold (2nd attempt) Was able to speak to a live real person who said the paper would be delivered within two hours. It is embarrassing, unprofessional and reeks of incompetence that this is the best TBT can do a a major player in communication industry. If not for the advertising and coupons would drop this liberal rag in a NY minute.

I had been a previous customer of the Tampa Bay Times and was interested in starting up the…read moredelivery service again. I went through the website and completed all of the required information and made my payment. I had signed up for the Sunday delivery and the web based e-paper. The next day I log into the account and there is no e-paper to view. So I contact Tampabay Times for assistance and I was told I could only view the e-paper on the first day of the physical paper delivery. Which already sounds weird. So I confirmed with two different folks you can only log into the website and see the e-paper following the first physical delivery of a newspaper at my house. But hey I wasn't frustrated so I waited until Sunday for the physical paper delivery which never occurred. AND there is still no e-paper available to view. Mind you, I had already set-up the account and received confirmation from Tampa Bay Times that it was approved, charged and scheduled. I called the customer support number and got a voicemail on Sunday to notify them I did not receive the paper and still can't see it online. No-one to talk to. On the following Monday I receive an email from Jake Baker explaining they CANNOT deliver to my address. Their database was not updated so the website allowed the account to be set-up even though they cannot deliver to my house. Which for years was in the delivery range. It took a week from signing up to have this discussion. I explained I just wanted the delivery of the paper and didn't really care about the day old news I can get from a dozen other sites for free. So I asked them to refund my payment. They agreed. Here is the kicker....My initial payment was for $10.21 for the first month. $5.00 for the monthly payment and a set-up fee. I was offered and received a $5.00 refund for the service but not for the set-up fee. WHAT???? The Tampa Bay Times refused to set up the account as it was no longer in their delivery range; yet you charged me for the processing of the account I cannot use? Unbelievable. This is the most unethical company I have come across in a long time. A company that preaches about accuracy and honestly of what they report. Maybe the crooked billing department could use a refresher course in common decency and not taking advantage of the public for a few bucks. In short, I still ended up paying $6.21 to have Tampa Bay Times set-up an account they denied, that cannot be used and there is no reimbursement. Will never do business with this company again. Best of luck competing against the digital news networks. Your time as a reporting agency is quickly coming to an end.
