Who knows when the next 4 cars would leave allowing us to park. In 90 degree heat, I'll take convenience over price. If you do decide to wait, they apparently give you tickets for the bus/tram/train to get you to your destination in the centrum. Sounds like a great concept when the lot isn't full. We didn't get so lucky this time.

The Jumbo is actually huge for a Jumbo, but compared to the AH, it seems smaller, a bit dated too. The mall has a nice Pets Place in the -1 floor, a sleek Hema next to it with a little food kiosk at the entrance. The Gelderlandplein is actually elegant and swanky. There is also a large interior courtyard where you can have lunch, dinner or drinks at multiple cafes and restaurants! This is really worth visiting if you want to get away from the mayhem of the centrum of Amsterdam.

There is underground parking and also parking lots and street parking nearby. Overall a good mix of shops and restaurants. There is also free art inside the mall to look at. With all that it's still a landmark in a way. Whenever my flight is near the city I can easily see where my home is based on this monstrosity. Underneath is the Waterkant bar and also a bus stop for the Connexion buses. It's not cheap to park here, nearly 500€ per month on the monthly program.

Overall clean and easy to navigate. The surrounding streets are mostly residential though heading southwards there are more office and commercial buildings. As a busy commuter station mornings and evenings you'll hit rush hour conditions, expect densely packed platforms and train cars on both local commuter trains and the M52 metro line. There are separate entry points for each type of transportation so you need to scan in and out of the respective areas, via chipped credit/debit card or smartphone payment method or QR code. If you pay by card or phone they will charge you by distance depending on where you scan in and out, same for buses and trams. Single/multi-ride ticket machines are also available in the station. Some parts of the platforms are exposed to the outside elements so keep that in mind if it's rainy/snowy. Bus and tram stops are located a short 2-5 minute walk depending on the line you're trying to catch. There's public bike parking underground accessible via a couple entrances with ramped escalators (as compared to normal stair escalators) to accommodate bike traffic. To reach the city center, by metro or tram it's about 15-25 minutes depending where you're heading, by train about 10 minutes to Amsterdam Centraal. To Schipol Airport it's a 10 min train ride.

Parking rates are between € 1.60 - € 2.75 for every 15 minutes, so can generally cost between € 6.4 and € 11 per hour, which seemed crazy for me, even for such a good location, as the car park wasn't too clean and was unstaffed. The one positive about charging for 15 minutes at a time, rather than hourly, is you could end up paying less, if you just go over the time by a couple of minutes, but the rates are so expensive anyway, it feels like you won't be saving much at all. They have public toilets here, but they come at an additional cost whether you are using the car park or not. I can totally understand them wanting to make some money out of tourists not using the car park, and keeping them out of the toilets, but if you're using the car park, you're basically paying twice. I did use the toilets and was unimpressed at having to pay € 1 to enter a dirty toilet, which was cash-only, to make matters worse they only had freezing cold running water, it felt like washing my hands with a bunch of ice cubes! 2* - Straight-forward and easy-to-follow car-park in a good location, but high prices, poor cleanliness and lack of staff pretty much make it an advertisement to use public transit.

There are two lots, one right next to the train (Zeeburg I) and another across the street (Zeeburg II). The rate only applies if you are going into the city. The ride into town is short, so even if you're standing it won't be bad. Ample parking (I was in lot 2). There is no staff at lot 2 and at lot 1 the staff won't be there after hours. But there are kiosks that will display in English. How do you get the great rate and avoid paying 24 euro's for the day? At the kiosk get a P+R GVB card. You have to buy it within 1 hour of parking. Before you get on the train use that same card to get back to the lot. This is very important. I bought another "all day" card for the trams in the city. If I had used that card to get back to my car I wouldn't have received the lower rate. The kiosk will check to your last "check-in", which should be in the city. If you make a stop on your way back to your car outside of the city, you won't get the rate. Pay within 1 hour of returning It can be a little complicated, but if you follow the directions above you won't pay more than 8 euro's for the day, maybe less!
