All these breads have soft and airy dough that is pillowy with a hint of sweetness. Bbq pork bun has enough fillings that you get in every bite. It is savory with meat so tender with chewy dough that paired with it perfectly. I can easily eat two or more in one seating as they're soft and not too doughy. They're closed on Mondays so I make sure to get here on Tuesday mornings for fresh, warm breads to start my day off. The lady who runs this place is friendly and helpful if you have any questions about their menu. This is a take out place only as there's no seating inside to dine in. My FIL likes traditional eats and this is definitely a traditional place. We stopped here for some snacks and my husband went a bit overboard, but we were able to sample a lot of offerings and brings lots of treats with us on our visit. The location is not in a very good part of town so lock your door and be ready to deal with people you may not want to encounter. The bakery itself is austere; white walls and floor, bare bones, old school. The family working is patient and nice. We were able to get pork buns with cabbage, egg custard, baked and steamed bao and much more so they have a decent selection, even after noon. I love red bean and the sesame balls with far too large for me. I got a mostly oil and raw dough flavor instead of the sesame and red bean taste I wanted. I was surprised how much I enjoyed their baked red bean pastry, however, it was simple and tasty. Crust wasn't anything special and although the custard was smooth and silky, it had a strong eggy taste to it (not my preference, I like a more subtle eggy taste). As for the BBQ pork buns, pretty decent. Soft bread, tasty filling. Pork pieces were plentiful but a little too chewy. Interior: To-go only. There is a fridge and a few display cases/racks, not much to see. Service: Great! Def a mom and pop shop kind of vibe. Bonus points for speaking Canto if you need to practice :) Food: This is where I take the most issue, though disclaimer, I did go near the end of the day so the quality of it may be lacking because I got old stuff. I got 4 things: 1x dai gai bao (big chicken bun), x2 Char sieu so (bbq pork wrapped in flakey pastry), x3 Steamed cakes, and x3 Dan tat (egg tarts). The dai gai bao (big chicken bun): it was just okay, would give it a 3/5. It was the last one of the day but it was still warm, and soft so bonus points for that. This bun for those of you who don't know is supposed to be big and filled with lots of things: ground chicken, usually a large mushroom (like a shitake), half a hard boiled egg, and a piece of lap cherng (chinese sausage). It had all these things. But the thing that threw me off were the mixed in veggies which were definitely frozen peas and carrots and that you had to take one big bite (maybe 3/4 of and inch) before you even reached the filling. So the filling to steamed bun ratio was a little disappointing. The Char sieu so: A 2/5. The char sieu (bbq pork) itself was a disappointment, I felt like it was lacking in flavor and filling in general. The pastry was just okay. Egg wash was a bit thick, so instead of just browning the pastry I could actually taste the egg. Maybe a plus in some people's books? The Steamed sponge cake: ie the Ji bao dan gao. A 1/5 :( These were placed in the display case, I was hesitant to buy them seeing as there were so many left. But I thought to myself, "hey, it's my first time here, I should support the local business"... and I normally love sponge cake. Unfortunately, these were super dry on the top, it had crusted over. Again, it could be that I came near the end of the day but it was a huge disappointment. The flavor was okay with an orange taste (usually I believe they use some sort of orange peel to flavor? but not always). Overall, not sure I'd come back. I'd love to continue supporting them but I was left with much to be desired. I did note that they also sell Yue beng (moon cakes) but I am not sure how good they are. I'd consider going back to try other things like the BBQ pork buns but if it's anything like the filling in the flaky pastry I tried, I know I wouldn't like it. I did go an hour before closing so please take that into account when reading my review. I'm sure things are much better in the first half of the day when they're more fresh! So if I go back, it would def be to see if it's better in the mornings. Will update if I do. read more

Still not quite sure how to pronounce this restaurant's name but it's great! The staff was really friendly and patient as we tried to decide what to get. Make sure you go early to get the full selection of items before they run out but whatever you get will be good! We each ordered a to go box filled with goodies and it was under $10 for each of us. You'll definitely walk away feeling like you got great food at a great value and you'll have leftovers for later! Small little shop you have to put your order in a day prior to pick up the cake came out good fruits were nice and fresh and the cake is soft and fresh and the cream is not overly sweet to a point you don't want to eat anymore it's actually light on the stomach that makes you want another piece, and the pork bun wasn't the best but it fulfilled my craving. We were looking for the best place to get some steamed pork buns, and just overall a great Chinese bakery. We live in Tracy so our options are limited. After doing some research we came across Qiangs and decided to take the 35 minute drive there. They had a bunch of options and was exactly what we were looking for. We left with 10 steamed pork buns, 2 baked pork buns, 6 cocktail buns, 1 bag of mini cookies, 1 sticky cookie, and 1 deep fried pork dumpling for 17 DOLLARS. I was shocked it was so inexpensive. Wife and I stop by whenever we are going to be in the area. We usually get sesame seed balls, egg tarts, apple turn overs and pork buns. This time the egg tarts were just under cooked and the apple turnovers very flaky but filling wasn't as good as I remember.
