Professors were great, but certain campus departments (e.g., Tutoring Center, Writing Center,…read moreAcademic Support Services, etc.) were EXTREMELY toxic. I have unfortunately witnessed staff mocking disabled students, gossip, and lack of professional boundaries w/ students (i.e., romantic grooming). FSC is known to have MANY concerning staff members who have been found guilty of serious misconduct. They either get swept under the rug, or get shuffled to the next SUNY school. Most misconduct goes unreported because the staff members are all "friends." And if you are a student reporting such misconduct? Good luck. You will face hostility, blame, and retaliation.

When I applied to Saint Peter's University I overlooked the Englewood Cliffs campus because I…read moreassumed it was far and probably did not have as many amenities as the JC campus does. With my final semester coming up for before I completed my Masters I was forced to take my last two classes at the Englewood Cliffs campus. Upon arriving to campus I was blown away by what it actually was. If you're a working adult who is continuing their education in the evening I'm sure you're looking for a school where everything is located on one floor. A place where if you need to see the advisor, dean, library, student lounge, and classroom are all within 5ft of each other. SPU is the place to go but only at the Englewood Cliffs campus. On one floor is all of these and much more. When I come to class a few minutes early I am able to heat up my dinner with the awesome microwave the student lounge provides, grab some snacks from the vending machine, or make a cup of coffee from the Keurig machine! Let's not forget about the most important part. The parking! This campus provides a parking lot that does not need a permit. The parking lot is not located across the campus but instead right outside the building where all of your classes are. I highly recommend attending the Englewood Cliffs campus if you are in any program. It is worth the drive and extremely convenient for the students.

His 24hr class (crammed into two days) was intense, but he made sure to make it fun and enjoyable. When you call to reserve a seat, make sure to ask if there is an opening in Kam's class. He's taking the New York Bar exam soon, and I know he's gonna make a great lawyer. Sign-up and take his course before we lose him to the courthouse :-)

PYD does a pretty good job in offering what they do for an NPO…read more They did a super job in taking care of me while i was in NY for a couple of months. I'm an art major in college, so 'business' was a totally new concept, and PYD successfully taught me the fundamental principles very quickly. The PROS: They do teach you and give you amazing business opportunities that probably a normal company wouldn't. But what you gain also depends on how hard you work, or what you can make out of the experience. I have to mention that Mr.Leo is a super motivational speaker, and if you are also at loss in direction in NY, his speech will change you! I also find this program very useful if you come from a foreign country, or other states beside NY, simply if you are new to the whole "NY business mind". NY definitely has a unique dynamic like no other, and even just in the way you socialize with people seem different. In that sense, PYD has taught me very valuable and interesting ways to look at things in terms of business. You can also meet other ambitious people here, and the friendships I made here personally were very valuable. I think this comes from the fact that they are a very small school, and everyone quickly starts feeling as if they were all part of a family. I found out later that some people that attend PYD regularly, are in very high positions of big cooperates that I would never even find the chance to talk to in normal life. Yes, for some reason PYD does attract these people to come even while they have amazing careers. Never under-estimate who might be sitting in with you at a meeting while your interning for them! The CONS: Because the school is so small, the dynamics of this school really depends on the people that attend PYD at the time. It does tend to get frustrating when people don't speak up, or meetings don't seem productive. This all depends on if the students/interns there are just there to fulfill their resume as "internship", or if they really want to learn. You also have to understand that this is a learning process for everyone, so at times it's struggling to cope with different levels of 'professionalism' s until they all get to the high standards. You can slack but they DO make you work HARD! So sometimes you will feel pressured and worn out, doubting if this is what you really want. No pain, no gain, right? Overall, I think PYD definitely teaches you a lot and makes you feel rewarded for what you do.

For those who need directions at hand simply log onto their website and use their Campus Map. The Hepburn Hall building is probably the building one uses the most when you first start. Here you'll find the admissions and bursars office. Buildings on campus are all walking distance. The athletic building is about a block away. Parking on campus can be a hassle at times as it can get full quickly, especially during evening classes. I recommend parking down the street in their West Campus lots. Shuttles run from 7am to 11pm continuously so no worries on walking. Yet, the walk is only about two blocks. A great perk of this university is the online student access. On their GothicNet you will find your personal information such as class registration, billing etc. Here you'll also find a library, computer lab, cafeteria and book store. Definitely had a great experience with this university and am proud to say I will always be a Gothic Knight!!

The new buildings and facilities are nice. The theater was gorgeous and the professors really get to know you if you make an effort. The price is decent if you want the best arts program right outside of NYC and there are a lot more options for commuting with the addition of the light rail. Precursor: I was a psychology major and a transfer student at Eugene Lang…read more LOVE the students. They're creative, open-minded, intelligent, and generally just very cool people to be around. The professors are wonderful (and terrifyingly smart) and there are surprisingly a lot of food options considering this is a tiny liberal arts college in Manhattan. No general education requirements means you'll actually get to spend your time studying things you're interested in. Plus, you're in the heart of NYC--which I don't think Yelp needs me to explain. That being said, don't mistake "creative liberal arts school" for "easy." Lang can be academically brutal at times and professors have very high expectations of their students. The students are brilliant, which can occasionally translate to competitive. And yes, being a private college in Greenwich Village means there can be pressure to look the part (it probably doesn't help that Parsons is right down the street). Did I regret transferring? No. Was it worth it? Absolutely. Just don't come here expecting an easy four years. You'll probably be challenged academically, intellectually, and personally--which, I suppose, is kind of the point. Fair warning: you will spend four years pretending you're not intimidated by the people sitting next to you in seminar. They are probably pretending the same thing.
