I called Thursday after my original massage appointment moved and did not tell me. Alan called me…read moreback a few minutes later and scheduled me the next day. Off to a good start. I had a groupon. Even better start! He spoke with me a few minutes about my specific concerns (rotator cuff issues exacerbated by typing), my previous treatment--and WHAT WORKS FOR ME!-- and my experience with massage. He listened, planned our time, and suggested some strategies that could help. So far, responsive and helpful. Once I was on the table, he communicated throughout the session--not random chatting, but specific questions and orientation to techniques he thought would help. He used pressure point release and deep tissue work, explaining what he thought would work and why. Most helpful, he suggested things that I could do on my own to help alleviate the pain. A few days later, my shoulder is still looser than when I went in. Not only have his suggestions helped, but I have a much better understanding of the mechanics of my injury and the rehab possibilites to ask about when I return to NY. Call Alan. I am looking forward to working with him to fully heal.

It was a bad experience that left a bad taste in my mouth. (& I'm not talking about the ginger. I like ginger.) While I was waiting for the manager, or whoever is in charge, I pulled a ginger chew out of my purse & ate it. When the brunette walked in she said under her breath, "that's a great way to start an interview." First of all, am I applying for a job here, or am i paying you for the physical therapy?? I'm paying "you", not the other way around. & my tummy hurt. That rude first impression made me not want to be there. & I ended up calling & making up some excuse to not have to finish out the last week or two. & to top it off, when I offered her a ginger chew, she made a look like she was disgusted, & said, "I HATE ginger." Rude. A kind "no thank you" would have been more appropriate. But I'll still give them 4 stars bc the physical therapy was consistent & the PTs were kind. I just couldn't stand the manager, or whoever "interviewed" me, & thank God I don't have to work for her, bc she's not so nice.

In 2018, I had a very successful knee replacement at the Gainesville location, receiving both surgery and Physical Therapy for pre-hab and re-hab training there. Now, in 2026, I am returning for a hip replacement, and am very pleased that TOI has remodeled its intake protocols so that, in my experience, there is little to no waiting (!) -- in the front office, for radiology studies, for face-to-face with providers, and for PT/OT visits. There seems to be a fresh sense of well-being and contentment among the staff and providers, a feeling of smoother and more efficient management of people and time. Additionally, TOI has opened a walk-in Ortho Emergency clinic on site.
