The brisket was tender and flavorful, and the melted cheese made it the perfect comfort food. The service was friendly, and the atmosphere was welcoming. The only reason I'm giving four stars instead of five is that there are a few small things that could be improved, but we'd definitely come back. If you're a brisket fan, the grilled cheese is a must-try!

I tried Urban Smoke a little over a year ago and loved it. What has happened???…read more The staff made me feel like I was interrupting even though I was the only person in the restaurant. I don't recall my order being presented almost as a to-go order when I visited before so receiving a plate with plastic fork/spoon, wrapped food, and styrofoam containers isn't very appetizing. All of this is a far cry from the presentation shown in their newspaper write-up. So, ok...I'll deal with the off putting presentation...what about the star of the show...brisket? The brisket served to me was the most unappetizing, dry, and lukewarm excuse for brisket that I've had in a long time. It was terrible. It reminded me of the old Rodney Daingerfield joke about eating beef where he could see where the jockey was hitting it. The turkey was lukewarm but tasted good. The sides were ok but should never overshadow the main...and yet, they did. I bought a plate that cost over $20 and got it in styrofoam, with bad brisket, and a "we could care less" attitude from staff. It's my last trip to Urban Smoke.

I have tried Chef Jason Dady at a Yelp event before and really enjoyed it. So when I heard he also owns a food truck called DUK Truck that sells Asian steamed buns, I am so there! I went to the restaurant week food truck event in downtown just to try the DUK Truck. I ordered the Asian steamed buns of course. It came with a salad too as a special. I have to tell you these buns are NO JOKE. The buns were super soft, the meat was melt in your mouth tender mixed with unexpected greens and other ingredients. It was heavenly! The salad was not your everyday salad. It was high class, very well made with goat cheese, pear, etc. I can't say enough good things about the DUK Truck. For the Asian steamed buns alone, it is a five star food truck hands down! I might have to start stalking them to satisfy my cravings. As I said, once you go Asian (steamed buns), you never miss an equation!

What a find! We…read morefound this place while participating in a Sister's Grimm Ghost Tour. Our tour guide said "Best hotdogs in San Antonio," so naturally we had to try them. As soon as the tour was over we walked back to the corner of W. Crockett and N. Presa to give them a try. Our tour guide was right, these are the best hotdogs in San Antonio. Bacon wrapped with a multitude of options for toppings, paired with a toasted bun, we literally sacrificed our keto diet on these. 100% recommend. We had two of the bacon wrapped with ketchup and mustard, and shared an everything (ketchup, mustard, mayo, and jalapeños). I can't decide which is better so you will need to give them both a try as well. Great location. Nice easy walk from the Alamo, and they are open late to give you the snack you need while doing a historic tour or of the city or spending a night out on the Riverwalk. I also have to give the guys working the stand a compliment, they were fast regardless of the line, and happy to be giving the customers a great experience. Bottom line, this hotdog stand is unlike any other I've been to (and I'm from the New York area - hot dog stand capital of the world). Go give them a try!

I had high hopes b/c the high rating and ordered the original gyro based on the recommendation. When I got my O.G., I wasn't OMG'd at all. Although I am not an expert on moroccan food, my taste buds are experts on food in general. The second time, my friend ordered the Chicka Chicka Bang Bang and offered me some to try. I liked the name Chicka Chicka Bang Bang and thought I was going to do a bang bang dance after putting the Chicka Chicka in my mouth. But again I thought it was A-OK. Apparently my friend was pretty unhappy about what she was eating (that's probably why she offered it to me, J/K). She said one of her close friends is moroccan and she has tasted much better moroccan food than this. All right then, guess it wasn't just me. So, the ultimate question: will I return? Probably not given that another truck at the Alamo Street Eat Bar is my favorite.

In search of something new, I found Wheelie Gourmet's Moroccan-inspired fare. After going over the menu, I asked for the Kefta which was labeled as a "Moroccan Burger." The Chef asked if I wanted to add the special, Candied Bacon. "Of course, I want Candied Bacon!" A few minutes later, this stunner was put in front of me. I took a minute to appreciate it, the warm pita bread, the seasoned meat with a hint of sauce, fresh spinach leaves and oh, yes, emmin-effin candied bacon. The next few seconds were a blur of tastiness, followed by awesomeness and rounded out with fullness. Will be back. Soon.
