The wait staff was incredibly friendly and attentive from start to finish. The atmosphere is quite and a little rundown. We stopped in for the first time on a holiday, and they happened to be running a buffet (not sure if that's a regular thing). It worked out great because I got to sample a little bit of everything--ham, potatoes and gravy, fried chicken, and more. My lady ordered the chicken melt, and we also grabbed a tenderloin and honey BBQ wings to go. Portions across the board are big and filling. Most of the food was solid, though nothing really stood out--until dessert. The Oreo cheesecake? Absolute perfection. Anytime I'm passing through Fremont, I'm stopping here.

What a treasure!! My wife and I stumbled upon Baxters about 5 years ago. It's wonderful. The food…read moreis simple and very tasty. No high frills special grind ground beef here. Just a solid hamburger with a well toasted bun, fresh toppings, and a choice of about 8 or so different kinds of sides. I've had the fried pork tenderloin which is the side of a dinner plate and a few of the burgers. My favorite is the chipotle burger with jalapeños and jack cheese with a smokey hot mayo that is scrumptious. The maple burger is epic too!! Try the onion rings that are a huge pile set for a family. Don't think of eating them yourself. Service is down home and very efficient. Don't be surprised to wait a bit for a table in this small town as there were two servers and a ton of people on the nights we've been. It's not pretentious but very great service. Ambience is machine shed, small town charm. It's comfortable. You'll see people you know and everyone else seems to know one another. You might be sitting next to your neighbors!! Try Baxter's!! Make the drive and check it out if you haven't. It's worth the drive.

Living out of town, I called with limited expectations after 2 PM the day before her birthday. What Ashby's came up with was nothing short of spectacular. 1 star because zero isn't an option…read more I didn't know Jade Palace was running a social experiment on how little food you can serve for $34 before someone calls the health department, but here we are. First off, I've been to plenty of Chinese spots in my life, and even the hole-in-the-wall places will heap you up like they're trying to feed a football team. Not here. These folks handed me what can only be described as a pup cup of rice. Like literally, I could've ordered a Starbucks dog treat and come out with more carbs. Then came the "egg rolls." Spoiler: they weren't egg rolls. They were limp, barely warmed-up spring rolls stuffed with sadness. Two of them. I ordered egg rolls and ended up with appetizers straight out of a gas station freezer section. Uncooked on the inside too--crunchy outside, still questioning life on the inside. Beautiful. Now let's talk about the chicken and broccoli. Usually this dish comes swimming in sauce--like the kind you actually want to drown your rice in. Instead, I got a dry broccoli funeral with a few strips of chicken sprinkled on top. No juice. No flavor. Just vibes. Honestly, if my Tupperware lid had more moisture from condensation than my meal, something went terribly wrong in the kitchen. $34 for this? Jade Palace, y'all should be arrested for armed robbery with chopsticks. At this point, I'm convinced the chef just saw me walk in and thought, "Let's see how far we can push this guy before he calls the health department." Well congratulations, I'm one step away from dialing. If you're into overpriced rabbit portions, mystery eggroll-spring-roll hybrids, and flavorless broccoli fitness bowls, Jade Palace is the spot for you. If you actually like Chinese food? Do yourself a favor and eat literally anywhere else--even Panda Express would be fine dining compared to this nonsense.
