After a few songs, we decided to order a couple of drinks. I ordered a Mango Cart, which is a perfectly fine wheat beer. My fiancée ordered a gin and tonic. That's where the issues arose. The tonic was served with no gin in it. When this was brought to my attention, the bartender was very slow to get to me. I had just picked up my drink, and I'm pretty sure she knew why I had come right back. She insisted that there was "a lot of gin" in the drink. It was a small glass, and I know what both gin and water taste like. There was no gin in the drink. She knew that. A second bartender, upon being asked, said they typically put a shot and a half of gin in the drink, so we asked for the shot separate from the tonic, and we'd mix it ourselves. We were told it doesn't work like that, which tells me all I need to know about the integrity of this business. They knew what they were doing. If you come here, order a beer or order the separate components for your mixed drink, then mix it yourself. I know everything is getting more expensive, but you're already making money on well gin. There's no need to cheat your customers like that.

Service was also average. The girls didn't really seem happy to be there but also they weren't complaining or anything. They were just doing their jobs, not necessarily with a smile on their faces, just doing their jobs making drinks and serving food, nothing more. Atmosphere was average for a tiki bar. Nothing exciting, no special effects like you see in a lot of tiki bars these days. Just an average tropically decorated space. The reading on a decibel (DB) meter app was 110 - hearing damage starts at 85! Very hard to enjoy a meal & we were somewhat sorry that we sat down at all. We ate quickly & got out of there. We have met the owners of this unique place and they are very cool, friendly and passionate about their business. We have tried: the overstuffed burger - delicious, chicken and waffles- fresh and perfectly fried chicken, French toast- big portion and very filling. We sat at the bar and ordered two cocktails thinking they were part of the deal. When the check came, the bartender told us the special didn't apply to those drinks. We didn't ask beforehand, but it definitely would've been nice if that had been mentioned when we ordered. That said, the drinks were still good and reasonably priced (~$14 each) for Fremont. The actual 1/2-price drinks were mostly basic wells. We also tried the Mexican candy shots for $7 each that were part of the special... honestly not worth it. Major shoutout to the bouncer who took photos for us. He didn't just press the button and hand the phone back. He actually looked at the screen, adjusted, and made sure the photos looked great. They turned out AMAZING and we really appreciated the effort! Despite the little mix-up at the bar, we still had a great time. I did a pork belly skewer. This was my least favourite thing. The pork was a bit tough/overcooked and the peanut sauce was more on the coconut side. I also did the wings. Jamaican and lemon pepper. The lemon pepper was solid, I don't do jerk but got half for woman. She said they were entirely too spicy. The adobo plate was a star! As you can probably imagine, I was starting to be full so I took it to go. Sabastian told me to overcook the meat a bit when I reheat it so the fat renders. Epic tip! It heated up wonderfully, I had some homemade peanut sauce that accompanied the dish nicely. It's pretty dark inside but has a total kitschy tiki vibe. The music was awesome! I meant to ask Sabastian if it was his playlist. It seems to be a place a lot of locals frequent. People came in that knew Sabastian and there was that Cheers feel. There are a number of booths if you don't want to sit at the bar and we will be back soon for their Taco Tuesday special. Thank you for the warm hospitality. Whoever runs this place, you've done a really great job and in keeping the theme. I was expecting it to sink like cigarettes but it doesn't smell in here at all.
