Awful - rude and abusive staff, dirty, complete lack of information.
I've been to this pool three times with my daughter, who is visually impaired and trying to overcome a phobia about water. The first time we arrived to find that most of the pool was roped off for private lessons with only a tiny strip of the deep end open to the public. There was no word of this on the website timetable which indicated that the entire pool was open (partly for "free swimming" and partly for "lane swimming"). Obviously I could not take my daughter in the deep end lane, so we had to leave without getting in the pool, losing money and really upsetting my daughter.
The second time we were asked to leave after half an hour because the pool was switching from public swimming to private lessons, and again there was no indication of this on the website.
The third time, the lifeguards started throwing those huge rope things (the dividers, with the large plastic roundels all down them) into the pool to divide the pool into lanes, ignoring the fact there were swimmers right there. My daughter got smacked in the head when a lifeguard threw one of the ropes down, and was then trapped in a corner of deep water by two ropes criss-crossed in front of her. This was an extremely frightening and traumatic experience for her, and when we complained I got a mouthful of abuse.
Basically unless you shell out for private lessons, they actively do not want you there and won't hide that fact.
Please also note that unless you pay for an expensive membership you have to use the public changing facilities which are not divided by sex and don't have any private cubicles, and which also have cameras installed. One of the cameras directly points at the showers and the other at the changing area. So basically you have to see naked men and get changed in front of men and in front of cameras. My daughter and I drove home in our wet swimsuits because we do not want to be naked in front of naked men and be filmed naked!! read more
