Just don't...
This place, overall, is a dumpster fire. I cannot even fathom how they run this business successfully. I've been going to Putney Leisure Centre for just under a month now and I've only experienced a multitude of failures that don't seem like they'll ever be addressed:
- Online account issues:
In initally signed up for 3 months for £70, pretty good offer right? Wrong, even that is overpriced. When I was first set up, even though I had personally written down my email address on the form, it was entered incorrectly and having been in on 9 separate opccassions now to get it sorted, I literally don't know what else to do. Each time I go in to ask for some help with my account, the passing of the buck starts and I'm always told to "Come back when *insert random staff team member here* is in , they'll know what to do." yet when I do, I get the same answer with a new staff member's name. So so far, on 9 separate occassions of this, I'm still unable to access my online account to make any bookings; meaning I have to physically go in or call each time to book ahead.
Same goes for the app - absolutely useless, yet they've had ample time to fix the issues.
- Signing in/out:
I've been going to gyms for over 10 years and not once have I ever been told I need to call up and cancel if I'm not able to make my session. The entire idea of the gym is that it's personal to all and so easy access is essential. Puregym, Anytime Fitness and all independent gyms I've been to allow for freedom of access and do not penalise you for not being able to attend your session. In this case, my partner had just found out she wasn't able to make the 17:45 slot due to traffic but we're unable to move the session to an hour later (even though he said it was a low turnout session with plenty of space) because we need to cancel with 2 hours notice! I even asked if this was due to COVID-19 restrictions and he said no, they've always done that - I'm not even joking...
1. How are we able to predict traffic? Or for that matter, if we're going to be late
2. Why on earth would you charge us for this? (adding a default to your account at £2.50 per missed session)
3. Why can't we book a later session which is free?
It's hard enough to motivate yourself to go to the gym but having the gym itself deter its patrons from being able to access is genuinely terrible business practice.
- Swimming:
Just don't, there's no showers, no changing rooms (same for the gym) and it's fairly difficult to actually get a swimming slot. It's as if they're actively trying to prevent people from coming which is a very strange business technique I must not be aware of :S read more
