This Gym is great but why? Well I'm confident to say after all my many visits to this place…read more For starters I need to correct myself and say this is not a gym. I repeat this is not a gym this is a private leisure centre. It's fantastic, quite literally everything is an experience quite different from the average, but let me explain. Signing up was nice, simple and smooth as the sales rep takes you around to show off their state of the art facilities such as crèche area where the qualified members of staff looks after your little ones for up to 4 hours while you get your workout on as they boast a range of soft toys, play pen and at times fancy dressed workers for light hearted entertainment. The lounge area is just as good with Wi-Fi access that runs throughout the who building, a lovely selection of food ranging in the hot and cold selections including a selection of flat screen computers that supplement your internet access through the Wi-Fi. This setting is against the wall length windows creating an open plan feel with a consistent summer feel inside the lounge, also there are a couple of deep seated leather sofa that has a TV hanging over head with a selection of Sky TV channels. The Dove Spa area being a partnered business for virgin active provides a range of things at a fee such as beauty therapy treatments like the pedicure, manicure with a range of deep cleansing face masks. There is also a range of cosmetic products on sale such as exfoliating items, creams, brushes etc. it's something I'm sure the female customers surely looks back twice at. Now what we need to establish is that this is just the ground floor at the front reception desk, yes, there is still the back where the separate male and female changing rooms are located each with their large number of showers, lockers and both having their own steam rooms which is amazing as they use scented aromas like eucalyptus inside which is really relaxing. Now this is the whole of down stairs which is considerably large so you can imagine the size of the gym upstairs which mirrors the size of everything downstairs. Oh my, this can be overwhelming if you're not a gym person, but luckily I am. The brilliant sized studio for classes with mirrors all along the sides which will make you feel like you in a ballet studio and yes they do ballet classes to boot. What a spacious functional area for working out, warm ups, stretches and fast classes if you are not keen on the hour long classes in the two studios. These functional areas you can use things from body mats, skipping ropes, kettle bells and even Vipers for those that are in the know. They even have a TRX machine for open use. The free weights area is just as large with all the expected equipment in other gyms but with the all but one remaining difference which is quantity, and yes virgin active Bromley has plenty and their cardiovascular area is the same with all their treadmills, bikes, row machine etc. I also believe the woman's only workout area is a nice touch for privacy for all those who are conscious of it and or even have religious believe that makes this idea a necessity. I must not forget to mention a third studio upstairs that is dedicated to bikes and with over thirty of them for spin classes throughout the day. It just never crosses my mind to go in to that relentless, rigorous class. Well, I mentioned downstairs and upstairs but I need to mention the side of the building dedicated to swimming, saunas, more showers and a Jacuzzi bath for everyone to share. I hope you can see why this place is amazing, but the reason why I don't give it 5 star which it deserves is the monthly fees which ranges from £70 - £90 a month. Lucky for me I pay half that price which I mentioned in the top tips for this place. PS I have my moments when I am an insane gym addict and moments when I'm anything but.

Unfortunately therapist off sick, disappointing for us but completely understand. Karen tried to have our day moved to the retreat, unfortunately unable to accommodate our booking. We considered moving our day to January, however wouldn't be the same experience as only 1 therapist works on a Sunday.... Our only day of week the 3 of us are available...we had all booked today as holiday for today!!! Was advised for the same experience on a Sunday to move our booking to the retreat, was happy to do this until told it would be an extra £10 per person!!!!! Which to some may not seem that much more of an expense, it's not. However, under the circumstances, I really feel that it is unacceptable customer care of service. To be told they would throw in a 2 course meal, which would make up the extra costs is disgraceful. We do not want the meal as a light lunch is already included in our day. For the sake of £30 you wish to charge us, for the lack of prestige customer care service... NO THANKS.! I'll have a full refund of £462, I'll treat my family else where.

Reynolds Gym in Bexley is a friendly gym in a beautiful building…read more When you first join you have a consultation with them and they work out a program for you, and they help you to set realistic goals. The staff are consistently helpful and the atmosphere is warm and welcoming and not in the least bit intimidating. They have a number of classes running and the gym is rarely crowded. It is also very clean and the sauna and steam room facilities are well attended and cleaned regularly, as are the changing and showering facilities. There are also Molton Brown toiletries in each shower cubicle (each of which have a door and a hook outside for your towel) which means you don't have to carry lots of bottles in with you if you do not wish to. There is also a resident beauty therapist who administers Dermalogica facials and other treatments.

Erith Sports Centre underwent a refurbishment a few years ago and is unrecognisable from the old…read moreone. The athletics track is still there, as are the tennis courts at the back, but inside it is a fully modernised sports facility. The gym is great and has plenty of equipment for everyone to use. During my visits in the day I have never had to wait to use an aerobics machine although visits during peak time have seen me waiting, however never longer than 10 minutes. It's a similar story with the weights machines. There is a couple of each machine in the gym which helps during busy periods. Sessions in the gym are not too boring, there are television screens in front of the running and cycling machines which often show BBC1, Sky Sports News and one of the 24 hour news channels to watch whilst you work out although only one screen is accompanied by sound, usually a music dance channel. If dance music isn't your thing then I would advise taking your mp3 player. Nevertheless I have found working out in front of the screen watching football highlights makes the workout time seem to go quicker. If you go on a Saturday you can also watch Erith Town play their football games in the stadium behind for free. This isn't the kind of gym where you feel intimidated. All shapes and sizes work out here and so you never feel like a disgrace which is nice if like me you've previously been a member of a "posers" gym. The atmosphere is friendly and you will often find other users are comfortable just chatting with you if you happen to both be at the water fountain. I have also found that the staff are equally as friendly and if you are a regular they remember your name which makes me feel valued and significant. It is advisable to take some change with you. Lockers are 50p (returnable) but only take 50p coins. The staff at the desk do their best to help if you haven't got the change but can't always do so. The swimming pool is a welcome addition to the old centre and is lovely if you fancy a dip after a workout. There are occasionally classes happening in the pool which means parts of it, if not all, are closed off to the public however the timetables are available on the centre's website to avoid disappointment. The same applies to the indoor sports halls. Or if swimming is not your thing after a session then upstairs is a bar/cafe in which you can enjoy a quick drink or snack in comfortable surroundings. There is a real community feel to this establishment and if you fancy making new friends then there are clubs and classes you can join. These range from Pilates to the local athletics club who train in the stadium behind the centre. My mum, who is also a member, has met many of her friends through various classes and this has enhanced her social life. Price wise they have always been well within my range. (Adult membership is £34 per month) Signing up for membership is worthwhile as you can also access other local sports centres which have recently been taken over by the Parkwood Leisure Group as well as get significant discounts on other facility hire such as tennis courts and sports halls. I really feel that the centre offers value for money. Hygiene standards on my visits have always been top quality and everything in the building has been clean and tidy.

I have used quite a few health clubs and the Kidbrooke David Lloyd is my favourite. I like it…read morebecause it has a great relaxing and welcoming atmosphere. They have a great members' lounge and bar. There is also an Adults' only lounge where you can have a bit more peace and quiet away from children. There is free Wi-fi, computer access and newspapers at the Lounge. The gym facilities are excellent. The swimming pool is lovely and I really enjoy relaxing in the jacuzzi, steam room and sauna. They always make sure that there are at least one or two lanes free for adult swimming during the day. Membership includes access to the tennis courts and fitness classes. David Lloyd membership is pricey, but if you can afford it, then it's worth it if you are willing to use the facilities for at least 2 or 3 times a week.

This gym is a complete rip-off. - The showers are filthy…read moreand smell unpleasant. - The videos on the cross trainers don't work properly. - If you work 9 to 5 like I do, then I wouldn't bother going here as outside of these hours it's far too busy. - The swimming pool is a decent size, however there is far too often only one swimming lane, with another for children's swimming classes and the rest of the pool a playground for the hundreds of kids. - Yes there's a nice lounge area, but I'm not here to socialise, I'm here to work out. If you are serious about working out, then don't bother paying the extortionate prices; this is more of a creche than a gym.
