Aside from books, they also sell jewelry and purses and various other trinkets. The owner told me that they try to buy from less fortunate countries so they can help them build businesses, which I thought was pretty awesome. I can't remember the term he used for this.. but he also said that he sells some local things on consignment also. I will definitely be going back to this place :)

Good selection of books, but would *not* recommend…read more Book I ordered was not delivered and returned to sender, USPS mistake. (I have written admission of this from USPS.) Archives would not try to resend the book, and tried to charge me a penalty. First they claimed my address was incorrect (i showed them on the USPS site where my address is verified), then they claimed that they could not deliver without a 9 digit zipcode (not true), then they claimed they couldn't resend the book without a totally different address. This was all via email - and they refused to take my call or call me back to discuss. I even offered to come pick up the book, but they would not do that without me paying a penalty. I confirmed with the USPS that Archives could have resent the book to me for no additional charge and gotten a refund of the shipping penalty, but Archives refused to do so. Their customer service is clearly written by a bot, and they have no interest in actually helping customers.

While not the largest bookstore nor one with the most seating, we love this space. It's a "must"…read morestop for us when we're in town. We're always able to find something we've been searching for or something we didn't know we needed. On our last visit, I was able to find several used books at $1 each to add to the little library near our Airbnb (in addition to 2 books my son has wanted and 2 finds for myself). The staff have always been kind, helpful, and friendly. We don't always see the dogs, but I'm not worried about that, they just add more character to the space. If you like books, this is a place to pop by.

However, I had an unfortunate interaction with an employee who just had an off day. When I received an email asking about my experience I shared in a kind manner. The owner responded with unkind emails of what I could've done differently when all I did was share my experience. He provided a refund I never requested, which was nice, but doesn't cover the cost of having insulted me.

No greeting, probably just because they shouldn't yell in a bookstore. I stopped by their in-store coffee place that serves Starbucks and the barista was really sweet. I like to get an iced water to walk around while I peruse the books. It was my husband's birthday and he had his eye on some new books. If you don't ask someone on staff, you might not be finding what you're looking for. I was interested in the Percy Jackson series, and it wasn't in the adventure or young adult area, it was actually tucked away literally in a corner of the children's area. The box set was more expensive than the Amazon price, so I asked if they did price matching, and they declined. It's a store policy to not do so with competitors, which I guess makes sense. So sadly we left empty-handed with an Amazon order on the way. It felt bad to so do because I do like Barnes and Noble but I'd rather pay a higher price at a local bookstore than at a large box store, but we didn't have time to stop elsewhere. I still have a quality impression of the store and the memories we've made, and it's always nice to increase my TBR list when I walk around the store. Makes for a fun date night.
