As with many organizations, when you fill out an application, no specific pet is guaranteed...Someone may have inquired before you, etc. I truly believe this organization cares about the pets and is very diligent in vetting applicants. My son adopted from a different organization because they had the puppy he and his partner wanted . I have read reviews in the negative about not having all information on the dogs health. My son's puppy came from a foster home that let him eat things he should not have and it was horrible, they were also not told that the dog suffered from Parvo and a heart condition....These organizations do the best they can with the information they have, especially when animals are taken off the streets...

We have to rehome her after an incident with my son so I posted on a Facebook page where another person said she had an issue with them where they lied about knowing their dog as they had only gotten her a few hours before and they ended up needing to rehome her because of dangerous circumstances too. They are also unwilling to help us with the rehoming process. I would highly recommend going through a different rescue.

Given our circumstances, they suggested a smaller dog than we had wanted. They were right. Sadly, though, after only a few days we realized we were not going to be able to properly care for the dog (our fault, not the dog's). So we contacted them about a return, and they were quick to respond and sympathetic. We couldn't ask for more or for a better overall experience. We are disappointed it didn't work for us but grateful for the help and guidance we received from DAWS. They do good work -- blessings on them.

Very poor communication skills rude Trying to help a section…read more8 person who came out of his apartment building this am and found a mama cat with three newborn kittens in a box in the hallway This man is on state assistance barely can afford to feed himself goes up and down the streets collecting bottles and cans that's how I know him and he reached out to me for help they initially said they would have to find a foster home and could be several days within 10 minutes this guy calls back questioning where I work how I know him and when I wouldn't reveal where I work for privacy reasons he flat out said they would not help me I would have made a very hefty donation to this group had they taking them in and set up a chewy account to take care of this little family u til they all got adopted well it's there loss and I will post this ll over the internet let it be known

I…read moreunfortunately, without knowing what kind of horrific and negligent agency that they are, "adopted" two kittens at a price of $450 EACH, that did not get along with each other AT ALL, and the agency did not mention a thing about it. Interesting fact that when I arrived pick them up, I had a very large carrier and the person running the operation, James, a very unscrupulous man, put the cats in two separate carriers and gave me one because he knew that they would not make it in one carrier but yet he did not tell me a thing. Oh, they need more room is what he said When I took them to the vet for their "healthy check ups" much to my shock and dismay my vet found an overwhelming amount of ear mites that were ALIVE running around in their ears and required expensive treatment for one week around the clock twice a day. This is absolutely outrageous.. and EGREGIOUS However, wait it gets better... I have one cat that has liquid diarrhea! And whatever One has I'm sure they both have so now I'm into a fecal sample for both cats at $85 a pop! Waiting to hear what kind of lovely creatures they came home to me with Not to mention, I have a dog so whatever they have he's going to catch. Isn't this a lovely scenario wouldn't anybody want this for themselves? I think not this agency needs to be shut down immediately. I called them up. I spoke to someone named James who is the most miserly, unaccomplished person I could ever imagine that I had to speak with and demanded my money back. You know what he said? The owner roughly handled my cat and carried her by the nape of her neck. Never completed the-nail cutting, cat was difficult because of the presence of the dogs.
