That's not uncommon, some of the coolest libraries I have been in have been schools in a previous life. The library has a very spacious feel to it and you can flow from room to room without running into other people or stuff. Has a definitely school type feel to it. The kids room is especially nice and was obviously design for play as much as reading. All kinds of things to keep the hyperactive delinquents occupied. A nice community room and some very friendly and helpful librarians as well as computers and wifi make this a library that is both very practical but still has that small town charm. To make it even better, the library has a resident kitty named Elsie. She of course goes where ever she wants but learned never to be intrusive and bother people that don't want her around. Of course when she found out we were more than willing to give her attention we couldn't get rid of her. Hastings is a cool library in a small town. You can get books, magazines, attend the numerous programs, use the computers and even hug a wonderful kitty. You can't ask for anymore than that from a library.

On public land, totally legal. Sarah, the manager at the library told him he wasn't wanted and he must be at least 50 feet away, across the street. He respectfully told her that he was on public land and that he was fine were he was. She sent security out to tell him to leave. He stayed. A gaggle of 'Karens' came out to tell him how wrong he was and one called 911, lying to the operator by saying he was getting loud, though he was the quietest one there. The police came, and informed the library staff that they were wrong and that Jeff was right, that he didn't have to leave just because they didn't like the way he looked or his message, 'God Bless Homeless Vets'. Betcha none of them served our country as they look down upon others who have. Maybe they should read the Constitution there at the library. You embarrassed yourself, Sarah, for all to see. Actually part of St Augustine, it is somewhat isolated from the city and is on Anastasia island A library that is very mundane and boring seen from the outside, it becomes simply stunning once you start to look around the interior. Incredible birdhouses, lighthouses, fantastic scenes of indigenous birds and wildlife and other incredible works of art are everywhere. The kid's room is a wonderful place where young imaginations can run wild. Sure the library has books and computers but it is the art and decor that makes this library very, very special. An ordinary place for books that was turned into a very, very cool place to walk slowly and see unique things that will stimulate and excite.

I absolutely love this library!!! Every Thursday at 10:30 AM they have baby time. They sing nursery…read morerhymes to the children and the babies really love it. I have so much fun with my son here. Being a stay at home mom, it can be hard to find activities to take your child to and even just getting out the house is a mission. I'm so grateful for this awesome community event. I hope many others can benefit from taking their children to this library. It is full of life, love, and literature. All for free. This is what makes a country great. With my library card, I have access to an extensive digital library by using libby on my tablet or…read morephone. This has saved me a ton of money on ebooks and audiobooks! Books for sale are at the entrance, and many of them are like new. You can even find some popular titles here. This location has a much larger selection of books and media than the Middleburg branch, which I usually go to. That's not to say the Middleburg location is lacking in any way. It's still my library of choice and played a huge role in my childhood, I have a lot of happy memories here. As an adult, I recently fell in love with the library all over again and consider it one of my safe spaces. No matter which location I go to, the librarians are always helpful and patient with my many questions. I think they're superheroes, to be honest. Like most book lovers, I always look forward to my library trips and am grateful for the great system and resources we have in Clay County.

Hahaha They have great kids section, some projects for kids to do over the summer (besides reading) and tons of planned activities scheduled so that you can plan in advance. The pickup and drop off along with the Libby app to check out books available through the app is awesome. They also have the audiobooks available through the app or physical copies to check out.

The online catalog indexes the book collection, manuscript finding aids, the map and photographic collections. The Research Library is a specialized, closed-stack library, with the exception of a small reference collection in the main reading room; the librarians will retrieve what you need. There is no charge to use the library but there are charges for photocopies and reproductions. The library collects all things related to St. Augustine and St. Johns County. Hours: Tuesdays through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The Research Library is closed on Thanksgiving Day, and the day after. We also have shortened hours on Christmas Eve, and are closed Christmas Day. Unfortunately I and usually visiting St. Augustine on weekends and after hours.

We stopped by Flagler College while visiting St. Augustine and honestly it's worth a walk around…read more The grounds are really well kept and pretty to just stroll through. The standout is definitely the main dome building inside. The interior is genuinely stunning, like the kind of place that makes you feel like you're in Europe somewhere rather than Florida. We were not expecting that at all. We also happened to walk through the quad right as some kind of dunk tank event was going on where students were getting people to pay to try to dunk faculty members. We had no idea what was going on but we stopped and watched for a while because how could you not? If you're already in St. Augustine it's an easy and free thing to add to your day. Just walk around, admire the beauty, and hope you get lucky enough to catch something fun happening on campus like we did.
