Last night I attended a 6PM meeting and it was quite organized. Desktop computers can be used as well and there is a time limit for 1 hour browsing. The library staff is here is very helpful and knowledgeable. Quite friendly too. Come on by and visit SE JAX Public Library, there is something new to learn for everyone :)

After the Yelp event that I hosted at the downtown Library, I signed up for a library card. I checked out their website and was happy to see I could reserve books at the San Marco location. I was alerted when they were ready for pick up, and they give you ample time to pick them up too. I parked for free right in front of the library, and there was a security guard that greeted me at the door. I picked up my books off the "hold" shelf, and then it was a self check out! I didn't even speak to anyone! I just scanned my card, scanned the books, and left - honor system style. The self check out was so high tech and offered other suggestions based on the books I picked out. There were lots of kids at this location the 3 times I've visited. I didn't explore the library much, but am so happy about the services offered here. I've read 2.5 books so far for the first time in years! I'm a reader now! Thanks Jacksonville Public Library!

I have been to the Pablo Creek Jacksonville Public Library many times as it's close to my house…read more The majority of my visits have been early voting. But I've also used the library services to print and make copies. As the library is one of the cheapest options. You can log into a computer using your library card and access your email to print documents. On this visit, I needed 60 copies for an upcoming meeting. I stopped by the front desk first and I'm so glad I did because the copying process had changed. Chris was so helpful and sweet. She came from behind the desk, walked me to the self service machine where you she assisted me with checking my balance and adding additional funds to my account. You can now use your debit or credit card instead of cash. But cash is still an option. Then she walked me to the copy machine and showed me how to log in. She suggested I print a few copies first to make sure they looked good. Again, she was such a help, because there was a line going down the page that was not on my original copy. She cleaned off the glass and suggested I use that option instead of the manual feed. Voila, the line was gone. If you're looking for a book or need to use the library services, I highly recommend the Pablo Creek location.

Highly disappointed, went on a Tuesday afternoon at 12 , it seemed like no one wanted to assist me , librarians kept sending me back and forth to one another so they wouldn't have to assist . There's plenty of comfortable seating if you need to stay a while and do some research. Also, there are programs she children as well as designated area that accommodate different age groups. The staff was friendly overall and eager to offer assistance. The common logic and customer service could use some work. I dropped in to print a page from my email while I was out and about. I was told that sometimes the printer doesn't print the best copies and in order to print I'd have to purchase a guest pass. No problem. I purchased the guest pass and went over to scan the pass and print my page. What should have taken 5 minutes ended up taking over an hour! The computer wouldn't read my pass so I could login. The attendant called the help desk but no luck. Finally, after an hour and 15 minutes I decided to get my money back and go elsewhere only to be told there are no refunds. Now, I was not told BEFORE the purchase that there are ongoing printer issues and it's a crap shoot rather or not you'll be able to print and if I pay to print I'm doing so at my own risk. I was baffled! The attendant tells me "it's (the policy) on the bottom of my receipt". My reply was "the one you gave me AFTER I'd already paid?? How would I know about your policy if it's not posted and no one tells me until after I pay?? Maybe I missed the sign; will you show it to me?" Of course she couldn't because there is no sign. Eventually, the manager came out and acknowledged that I shouldn't pay for a service and not receive what I paid for and my money be kept, although that's their policy. In the end, another 15 minutes later, the system was able to be manipulated and I got my copy. Common sense dictates placing a sign informing customers the printer is down until it's repaired OR let customers know if they pay to print it's at their own risk! It's not a huge financial investment to pay for printing but the principal of a policy aimed at keeping someone's money for a service they didn't receive with no warning beforehand is preposterous and should not be tolerated. Unbelievable! Thank goodness I have everything I need at home because I'll never come back here. I can only imagine what other hidden ridiculous policies they have and I don't want to venture in and accidentally find out AFTER I've spent my money.

Push forward a few decades and it's still a safe, inviting place for a neighborhood needing a reading respite. The environment is clean but very stale. The library is sparse and needs an update desperately but with today's economic climate that doesn't seem likely to happen. What you will find is an open area of books, videos, and personnel there to help you with your needs. Parking is available in the front and back. Huge windows in the front of the building permit and a lot of natural sunlight. The Murray Hill neighborhood is in a flux of transition with trendy and hip restaurants, bars, and shops surrounding this neighborhood staple.
