Cambridge Chauffeur Punts

Cambridge Chauffeur Punts

(1 review)

I need to gush a little bit--I am in LOVE! Cambridge Chauffeur Punts is wonderful! Their location…read moreis convenient but maybe a little hidden, so set out to find it. Down the bridge stairs to their shack on the shore. Tom was our guide, he was so knowledgeable and pleasant, had wonderful wit and pretty much answered any question our small group could come up with. The view of the schools and bridges from the water was divine and a must see for visitors, since the city was designed to be traveled into by water. (I would definitely recommend the private tour if you can swing it, but a group would be fine too) He even gave an opportunity to punt at the end. When I come back to Cambridge I am doing this again!!

From the owner: Cambridge Chauffeur Punts was founded in 1993. Since then we have built up to a fleet of 29 Punts…read moresome of which are double punts, designed for taking groups such as school parties and conference groups of up to 130 people. Customers can choose from taking a tour with a chauffeur guide or punting themselves. We operate on upper river, towards Granchester and along the middle river which passes the famous college Backs. Below is the map showing the area close to our punting station. If you are a group arriving by coach, ensure you are arriving at the Queens Road Coach Stop, which is only about 100meters from our punt station.(For other areas of Camrbridge, see links below). We are situated on Silver Street bridge underneath the willow trees. A punt is a flat-bottomed boat which does not have a keel, and is propelled by means of a long pole. Punts were introduced as pleasure craft in Edwardian times, since then punting has become one of the most popular ways to see the famous bridges and colleges along the River Cam. Although most people share a chauffeured punt with others, we are happy to provide private tours on request, booking is advisable. We are based opposite Queens' College Porter's Lodge, adjacent to Darwin College, on Silver Street Bridge.
