Excellent, excellent, excellent. Pleasantly surprised to see A2 low temp pasteurized milk, guernsey cow from Amish country. And the rolled oats are outstanding!

    Neat building and sign

On my latest trip to Peninsula, I was surprised to find this new store. I think it's the perfect vibe and fit for the area. First off, parking is a mess, as always. If you find nothing in the few small free retail lots, the Lock 29 lot isn't too far down. If you can't find one there, you might have to pay to park. The shop currently has only stairs to enter, but they are already working hard for an ADA ramp. Once inside, you're greeted with a good dose of rustic charm. It really completes that farmhouse feel. There's a refrigerator with an assortment of healthy drinks. I was actually stoked to find Athletic Brewing non-alcoholic beer here by the can and the pack. Other refrigerators and coolers include meats and frozen goods, apple cider, dairy, eggs, fruit, veg, and more. Outside of that, lots of dry goods and more fruits and veg. There's local bread, honey, oats, granola, pumpkins, squash, herbs, apples; just to name a seasonal few. The shopkeeper was very friendly and easy to talk to. She mentioned the shop had not even been open a whole month yet at the time I visited. prices were honestly not bad for most items. Granola was on the higher side, but fresh fruit and vegetables were perfectly priced like in a farmer's market. I actually can't wait to visit again.

New This Year Brunty Farms - chicken and eggs... they also have a booth at Howe Meadow Farmer's Market... and offer a discount of eggs if you bring the box back and re-use it. Trigo's Market Bakery - nice selection of round and rectangle loafs... with a rotating foccacia selection. They also have a stuffed foccacia (forgot the name of the style) and we tried the pear, walnut, blue cheese... outstanding! Beefallo - haven't tried them yet, but they offer ground, patties, steaks and other cuts of American Buffalo's that have been bread with cows? The booth has been packed so I haven't heard the pitch yet. Repeat Winners The Pierogi Lady - Serves some hot to eat there... the rest frozen... you can even order off of her Facebook page and pick them up at the market... so far this year we've loved the crab rangoon and the french onion... and this week picked up some chicken pot pie and yam with walnuts to try. Bluebird Meadow Farms - bratwurst, breakfast sausage, ribs, roasts and later in the season even duck Hattie's Cafe - great selection of jams and salsa Edgesmith - next week I'll start my yearly cycle of sending my chef's knives in for a pro sharpening... they do a great job with pruners too. 2 Amish farms come as well as 4 or 5 local offerings of specialty lettuce, herb and garlic growers. We don't go for the candle seller or the popcorn person... but at least once a season we buy from the honey people and the maple syrup lady. Lots to choose from... and everyone is really friendly... worth the drive to check out some of the local breakfast or lunch places... and a can't miss when the Taste of Hudson is happening!
