you're charged a fee every time you go inside to finish your piece you paid for and already paid fee. this isn't posted anywhere around or on their website. i explained to the girl working tonight this wasn't disclosed last night when i asked how it worked. she' said ok well that's how it is. we came in late last night. i would've waited til today to go so we had time to finish instead of paying more fees. customer service is god awful, fees feel predatory, and we will never come back. read more

There is limited street parking in front but a much bigger parking lot with a rear entrance in the back. There is a flat fee charge of $4-5 studio fee which is separate from the price of the piece you buy to paint. It is a smaller studio. We had a fun date hanging out and painting our ceramics and getting creative while listening to chill music. I tried the exploding paints and it turned out awesome, I hadn't seen those before and they were pretty cool. You can be as quick or slow and methodical as you want with lots of color options and also stencils to help inspire you. I was excited to pick up our bowls and happy with how they turned out. Even though it's always busy on the weekends we have never waited long. The staff don't necessarily go into much detail about best ways to paint your item but they are nice. This is a great place to go to be inside, create something to take home, be able to cut with whoever you are with and have a great time for someone that isn't able to be very physical. read more

Walked into purple glaze as a start to our date night at 8:27pm knowing they closed at 9. We were greeted by a kind man saying we could paint but it would be closing time prior to our projects going to the kiln. We picked out our clay items and was waiting for him to come back with our paint per his instruction and another young lady came and told us that we wouldn't be able to paint but could buy it and come back. This was contrary to what the young man just stated and felt as though she was more worried about leaving by 9 than the fact we were paying customers. I get it, people want to go home early but we were there more than 30 mins prior to closing. I just think this is poor business practice and they lost of customer for future as well. read more

I went with my fiancé to the location on 91st for a date. It was our first time there. Although the place was a bit disorganized, we had a lot of fun. You only pay a studio fee and then pay for the ceramic you want to paint. I chose a cardinal stooping on a tree branch ($18) and my fiancé chose a little snail ($11.) Was home from California to visit family and friends. By best friend Karen wanted to have a girls night, and this was one of our stops. It was a blast! They have a huge selection of things/projects to glaze and the staff was very friendly and helpful! I think we spent two hours here just painting away, and you can pick up your pieces two days later. Really fun studio, friendly and helpful staff! Lots of items to paint or mosiac with a great selection of paints and brush sizes. Fun activity for a group or a date. Items can be glazed and picked up later or taken home that night, depending on your paint. They provide aprons to keep your clothes clean, and several tables. Can get a little cramped if there is a large party, so go during the week. I'm not sure if they still run specials, but they used to have a special on Wednesday night where the studio fee was waived....you might check out their website or call just to be sure. The Purple Glaze on Peoria is seriously one of my most favorite places in town. I've spent so much time there painting gifts for people over the years that it's almost hard to believe. The staff is always extremely friendly and helpful, and their selection has something for everyone...ok, wait..what am I doing...I haven't even explained what this place is. Purple Glaze is a place where you buy items ranging from small R2-D2s or owl figurines to cups, bowls, book stoppers, garden gnomes...just about anything that can be made from ceramic (and if they don't have what you want, chances are, they can order it), and you then paint it. You can mosaic it if you want as well. They've got so many supplies (stencils, art tools, paints, letters, tiles, so much stuff) for you to decorate your item with. And you can leave your item there and come back to work on it so you aren't pressured to finish it in one night. This is good because I've only ever finished one item in one night. It was a shot glass. Other than that, I've spent weeks, even months on projects. One of the neatest items I've painted was a large cup with a spoon that stores in its handle. How cool is that? I might be rambling at this point...anyway. It's awesome. And there's a bakery next door with strange hours. And there's a coffee shop across the street. And Cosmos is across the street. And a tattoo shop across the street. And a restaurant/bar next door. Go! It's great fun. Check their site or fb for their specials and deals as well. They have nights where they have free sitting sessions (normally when you come in and start something new, you have to pay a small studio fee aside from the cost of the piece, but that is a one time thing for that piece, but you can start a piece on a night without studio fee cost and never have to pay it). Then after you finish your piece, they will put it in queue for kilning, and then it will be all finished and shiny when you pick it up. So in short...it's a wonderful place to go solo, with a friend, or with a date, or with several friends. read more

The little twit had the nerve to be rude and say we should have paid when we painted and that they almost threw the pottery away and hadn't glazed it. Not at all for small children. Ripoff report. Just spent $54.67 for 45 minutes of craft time at the 91st and Yale location for Purple Glaze, a pot, and a tiny dolphin for 2 kids. Frankly, I was sticker shocked when we went to pay and asked to clerk to double check. She was very nice and offered a discount coupon valid during non-peak hours. Seems to be a better value for birthday parties, but one at a time is not worth it at all! We won't be back except for birthday parties. read more
