This was our first visit to this rustic tasting room, and we had a nice experience. It was a Friday, right after opening, and we had the whole place to ourselves. The service was friendly, and my wife and I shared a traditional and custom flight. We thought that the wines were decent, some better suited to our palates than others, but well-made, nonetheless. We were fortunate to meet and speak with the owner who happened to be bringing in supplies and got a little more detail on the wines, than we did from our "winerista". He also mentioned that his niece opened a winery in Los Olivos (Story of Soil), which focused on wine styles a little out of our wheelhouse, but we thought we'd give that a try as well, and it turned out to be a fantastic recommendation. Costa De Oro is a nice place with wine varietals for everyone's tastes. I recommend you stop in and give them a try when you're passing through the area.

Thank you for the great experience Tammy!

These guys went above and beyond to show us a good time and were incredibly kind and generous. The wine was spectacular. Most guests bought bottles at the end. The venue was stunning, and we couldn't be more grateful to have had such spectacular hosts.

Wes' incredible amount of knowledge, and painstaking explanations (without being boring) of the entire growth, processing, and history of the winemaking and vinting process was nothing short of a wonderful journey into the heart of California winemaking. Like I told Wes when we set out on our tour, I'm no oenophile. I simply know what I like when I taste it. Wes was patient, inquisitive, and not high minded about wine and how and when it can be enjoyed. I really appreciated the thoughtfulness and thoroughness with which he constructed the tasting, and the accompanying culinary pairings. For those considering the tour, the Ranchos De Ontiveros grounds are a little further out there, but you'll be rewarded with the majesty of the Santa Maria valley and the bucolic surrounds which envelop the landscape. Between the setting and the awesome educational experience through Wes, you will undoubtedly feel privileged to have spend a wonderful couple hours in his and the vinyards company.

Working in the wine industry myself I always enjoy visiting neighboring locations to see what is new and what they are up to and RiverBench is the epitome of Central Coast hospitality. Friendly faces, exceptional service, and above average wines. The most exciting part is they have a woman wine maker who ALWAYS meets the mark in Chardonnay, Pinot noir, and my favorite, sparkling. The staff have always shown nothing shy of extreme wine knowledge and dedicated service. They have all been so attentive. They always come to make sure I was enjoying my experience. Each time I am there I am appreciated and valued as a member, but even before the membership. But how could I possibly pass up the chance to go to the holy site of some of the best Pinot there is, Bien Nacido vineyard. We split a tasting and I had crackers and cheese between small sips of wine so that I could handle it. The first pour was a lovely Chardonnay but we were there for Pinot Noir. The second pour was a Pinot from their sister vineyard about 6 miles west - Solomon. This wine was a nice surprise. A solid and a little light - this Pinot was excellent on its own and paired particularly well with the Manchego cheese they have for sale at the tasting room. The next pour is what we came for - Bien Nacido Estate Pinot '22. The grapes were from various blocks around the Bien Nacido vineyard. This wine was more substantial than the second pour and had some heft and earthiness to it. We loved it of course. Because of my chemo situation, my stomach preferred the lighter Pinot. My taste buds preferred the Bien Nacido Pinot. Both wines would be welcome in our wine collection and it was a privilege to drink their wine at their vineyard. Our server knew everything about everything Pinot in that area so we learned a lot too! This was one of my bucket list adventures!

We sat on the patio and the views are awesome. Wines were solid but the group as whole didn't find the price point to align with the taste. The tasting fee is also the highest in the area. Where things were really disappointing was the service. Our young lady who served us was not very informative or friendly. She enjoyed time on her phone which also meant there was times we were wondering if we would ever get our next pour. Worst part it wasn't very busy. Our group felt that maybe because we used the wine passport for the taste that it turned her off. Definitely can't recommend going to this place given cost and quality of service. I guess given how famous this place is we would get more of an experience.

We came with our pup, and Google Maps took us up Tepusquet from the 166. Don't do it. Just don't. I love a good adventure, but this didn't make any sense for being any faster or more efficient. It's windy, narrow, and steep. Poor June was car sick from the drive. While the drive had some great views, we were anxious to get to Cambria. Upon arrival we noticed that the tasting room was uphill from the vineyards, providing a great view. I will say that the tasting room was cut into a little crevice so the views from the deck are limited. However, there is a beautiful private tasting area on a hill (when you turn into the winery parking lot) that would be a fantastic spot for good views. The wine was nice, plenty of variety. And I appreciated the unique guidance of wines from the staff. By providing your preferred wines and notes they will create a personal tasting menu. We also opted for the charcuterie for 2 which was perfect. Plenty of bites to accompany our tasting. Because wine is so unique it's always difficult to review, so I prefer to focus on the experience as a whole, and Cambria nailed it. We would definitely return and hang out by their fireplace. Until next time!

I quickly asked where they were headed and wanted to know more. They told us Kenneth Volk and mentioned all of the unique varieties. Only on this occasion, where we had already been down that way tasting and it was getting later in the day but with the opportunity to try so many new places on this passport, we gave it a go! We arrived at Kenneth Volk and right away my boyfriend spotted a familiar face from Rancho Sisquoc. That was lovely! I right away spotted the vegan cinnamon rolls :) We tasted several different wines and honestly, I enjoyed what we had and will return in the near future to taste again at a couple select places that were brand new to us this go around, but with a fresh palate. I'm happy we made it here and had a pleasant experience so we can get them into the rotation next time.
