Lovely lady - who helped me choose a lovely fabric with macarons on it for a top that I will be making! Perfect customer service, impeccable. This will be going on my blog on the sewing tab to recommend to others! The shelves are full of lovely dress fabrics. I'm pretty sure I will be back as i saw a couple of other fabrics that sparkled at me - they didn't have sparkles but they did sparkle and wink at me for future projects!

There is an enormous selection of both yarns and cross stitch kits, needles and accessories and a HUGE selection of patterns. The owner is really helpful and patient and will give you advice when you ask but is equally happy to let you potter around just having a look. There are some tables for sitting at and having a browse and I doubt anyone would come out here empty handed. Even if you live a few miles away, get yourself on the plane, train or automobile and get yourself to this glorious crafty shop.

I wanted a length of navy elastic but was struggling to find anywhere but an online marketplace at exorbitant prices, so I was really pleased to find a range of widths, very reasonably priced with this store. I placed my order, the online invoicing was prompt and seamless, and gave lots of security reassurances. Postage was not included but was reasonable again. That all happened yesterday, and I received my items today. Really high quality materials. I cannot commend this company enough and will certainly buy from them again. Just wish I lived closer to visit in person!

It's a small shop but it's filled to max with many beautifully hand crafted gifts. They have cards, lots of motivational messages, pretty much gifts for any occasion. The lady will ask if you need any help but I like browse as there is so much to take in. She's very polite and leaves you along. On my second visit I took along my mum and she was very impressed and thought the same as me. After perusing we came across a lovely Christmas gift for her sister. The prices are very reasonable and the lady asked if it was for a gift. When we said yes she carefully wrapped up with a bow. It was beautifully done and I know my auntie will love this wee present. I'm giving nothing away incase she reads this review. Just know it's a lovely gift. The last time I had chatted with the lady I found out that she also runs sewing classes. She said to check out the website for details and she runs the classes in the back of the shop. I have unfortunately never got round to it as I've been so busy lately. I would love to get back into my sewing and I think her classes would be ideal and they're handy to get to. This is definitely a wee shop to pop into and browse as I'm sure you will find a lovely unique gift for that someone special.

Many of which are made by the very talented Ali herself. Items I've purchased include bespoke hoodies and tops personalised with names in my family tartan. Nothing is ever too creative and Ali always talks you through what can be done. Her rhino range makes me laugh and then there's Ali herself - a lovelier and more creative person you could not meet. This gift shop is so much more than meets the eye. Go to her Facebook page for updates on her classes and what she's creating. Her workshops are fun and incredibly well taught. I went from being unable to sew a button on to a being a proud owner of a sewing machine who can actually use it to make things! I've made a tote bag, learned how to put a zipper in, learned how to embroider and make paper lanterns. Her classes are reasonably priced and always come with a cup of tea/coffee and good banter. Whether you're looking for a unique gift that isn't on the high street or for something creative to do then I wholeheartedly recommend you take a look and pop in for a class.

A gorgeous boutique near the bottom of Victoria Street, Red Door sells all kinds of irresistible, DIY gifts from limited edition screenprints, tote bags and tea towels to sock monkeys, stuffed toys and Tatty Divine jewellery. Everything seems to have been made by hand by talented artists and there's a strong proportion of cute and kitsch things that should appeal to indie kids and arty farty types. To top it off, they sell adorable wrapping paper and stationary - including glow in the dark and scratch and sniff cards - making Red Door a one-stop shop for memorable presents.
