Acrofit has an awesome roster of coaches, including international pole and aerial silks/lyra champion, Sylvia Louis! All of the coaches are very welcoming and encouraging to achieve your goals. Classes are on a drop-in basis so you can join anytime regardless of your fitness level. They also offer 8 week semester sessions for most of the aerial and other sports that they teach. They welcome students of all age and very affordable pricing. When you purchase a 20 class pass, it works out to being $16.00 a class. They also have open practice almost everyday, sometimes twice a day for $11.00 a pop. Love it here! First class is always FREE :)

I've been going to Acrofit for a few months now and I'm loving it. I bought a 10 pass drop in to…read morestart off. Newbies get it for half off which is a sweet deal. First class is also free, but I bought the classes before being able to redeem it. I started off doing pole and I'm not going to lie, the first class was a little intimidating. I've done pole fitness at one other facility prior to Acrofit, and I can confidently say that the instructors at Acrofit challenge you a lot more. While more challenging, it was very fun. Another thing to note is the pole classes focuses more on skill and form rather than being flirty and sensual. I'm not into that so that's a thumbs up from me. As well, the prices here are way more appealing than most other pole fitness facilities. The drop-in class had other members at a higher skill level than me, but the instructor was able to teach new moves to everyone without giving any other students more attention than the others. Soon after my first class, I registered for a pole semester (level 1) where I knew everyone was going to be as amateur as I was. It was a really welcoming + comfortable environment, and the instructor was able to teach us all the same stuff as we were all learning at the same pace. There are new owners now and the drop-in classes have been tweaked a little to allow students of similar skill level to train with each other, which I prefer. After I finished my first pole semester, I registered for pole level 2, and I also delved into trying out aerial silks. The instructors for the silk classes are just as helpful and encouraging as those I've met in pole. They encourage you to challenge yourself but don't pressure you into accelerating your learning curve. I took a tumbling class and it's the same deal. Great instructors, challenging, yet fun. I bought more class drop ins on top of my semester class and I'm probably gonna be a long-term client now.

I am a runner. I…read morerun. I run for fun, I run for health, I run for the challenge. I run. But it hasn't always been this way - far from it actually. I used to hate running. Buy some silly, ultra light-weight, mega-expensive shoes and at least one "extremely essential" watering device, only to force my body to move farther and faster than it actually needs to, resulting in the inevitable sports-related injury that *will* follow? No thank you. Between the regulated injury-free pace of my everyday, and the potential self-inflicted daily-run-induced immobilizing pain, I always chose the regulated pace. But then something changed. A few years ago I made the insane decision to become a true Vancouverite and bought a pair of running shoes. A new obsession was formed. Also formed: shin splints. Injuries, it would seem, are an inevitability in a runner's life. Enter Dr Robin Armstrong, an anomaly in the vast sea of Chiropractors in the greater Vancouver area. Not only is she a doctor but she's a yoga instructor as well, a combination that somehow seems entirely appropriate for Vancouver. Dr Robin is the first Chiropractor I've seen who has accomplished (within the first treatment) a complete trust within me that I would benefit from seeing her. She's calm, knowledgeable, and has a wicked sense of humour. With combinations of chiropractic, yoga therapy, and Active Release Techniques, Dr Robin has no lack of treatment options for the individualized approach to her practice. Not only did she take my shin splints away (aka miracle-worker), but I always leave her office with a new set of stretches and strengthening poses in hand. I'm so grateful to have found Dr Robin, especially now that the weather is on my (runner's) side.
