This company claims they want to help people with their Employee Help Program. The Program which…read moreis sold to my employer advocates that it offers a wide variety of services to help out employees that are going thru difficult times because they "care". Yet, when you call them, they treat you like a liar since they go to great lenghts to identify you (like you are trying to "steal" from them, they make sure that you are a real member, interrogating you with a lot of questions but keep in mind this is a help center for distressed employees) and once they have identified you, they proceed asking very confidential questions that you have to reply to in order to be able to benefit from the system. The questions they ask are very offensive, confidential and triggering. They ask you in a casual manner (you can hear the agent typing like they are doing a grocery list) if you are a danger to yourself or other people... Right off the bat, they make you feel crazy and dangerous. Furthermore, they sometimes ask this question, sometimes they dont so obviously, they feel the agent is able to evaluate the caller's mental state. They are absolutely not able to... The agents are themselves overworked and lacking empathy and rude. The "risk question" implies that asking for help makes one a dangerous individual which is offensive and insulting to someone who is asking for help. It is already hard to reach out. Regardless of the fact that it can be triggering for someone who actually is thinking about harming themselves. They pretend this question is intended to "help" but if you reply "yes", they refuse to provide services saying that your case is too "heavy". I asked the agent what would happen if I said yes because I was shocked that I was being casually asked this highly confidential info with complete lack of awareness of what they are actually asking which should never be asked like that over the phone by an anonymous agent who is checking a list on a computer. If you refuse to reply, they refuse to continue the conversation. They then flag you without your consent. I have filed a complaint about this, asking to receive a call back. I did not receive a call back. I have asked for help twice and I have not been able to benefit from any help from them, not even a callback. When I call them, they haver no traces of my call... These agencies are driving down real psychologists salaries by offering 40% LESS than the actual psychologist's salary. So they have no psychologists or the one that accept their contract are the really unready ones. Because psychologists will not work for them because of the low rates, they refer you without telling you to a social worker, which is, according to Morneau Sheppell, the same thing as a psychologist... I think psychologists would have a lot to say about this... If you mention this to the agents, they start asking offensive questions about what I think I can get out of 6 payed sessions and they start asking questions about your past therapies, how many did you follow, etc. in order to prove that your case is too heavy hence they cannot help. This is a disgrace. The Order of Psychologist agrees with me, yet, this changes nothing. So, basically, Morneau Sheppel is taking a cut from the professionals and the employees, distributing money among these "entrepreneurs" who now understand how to take money from the professionals who have studied as well as from the employees who have no choice since these decisions are taken by the management without consulting employees and they simply never call back if you try to communicate with someone about this.

YES is a non-profit organization that helps English-speaking Quebecers find jobs, develop their…read morebusinesses, or find guidance as professional artists. Basically, they serve three groups (some of which overlap): 1. People aged 18-35 who need help with finding a job (so YES offers help in refining their resumes, interview prep, French for the workplace, etc). 2. Entrepreneurs of all ages who need access to resources for developing their businesses (YES offers workshops on writing business plans, legal info, project management, registering your business, networking, plus free one-on-one business coaching with a coach who is matched to you, either online or in-person). 3. Artists of all ages who need help with career development (YES offers workshops on navigating social media promotion, finding funding, grant writing, time management, also many of them free). Having used their services on and off for the last 10 years, and much more in recent months, I find YES is incredibly helpful for giving newbie entrepreneurs insights and direction on where to go with their project. I feel their coaches have a lot of information and expertise to share, and the advice they give is quite relevant more often than not. Also, the connections you make with other newbie entrepreneurs in the workshops is quite motivating. I feel that their offerings to artists is also very helpful, especially as it's well-structured, consistent and seems to fill a huge need within the English-speaking community. In recent years, they seem to have shifted from only in-person to both in-person and online workshops, which is great! Personal coaching, and most workshops are freely available with the yearly membership of $30, with some workshops with guest speakers priced affordably at $20 - 40. Personally, at my stage of business development, I'd rather pay $30 to use their affordable services, AND have access to a personal business coach, rather than paying much more for some random coach online. All in all, it's a valuable resource for the English-speaking community in Quebec, and I recommend it for anyone who's starting out as a professional artist and/or entrepreneur.
