Captain Eric created an amazing experience for our sunset cruise! We saw a beautiful Fin Whale and spent a good 20-30 minutes moving around to follow him. At sunset when we got back to the harbor we had a pod of dolphins playing with us. He gave us time to throw flowers in the sea to honor our mom. He provided a little charcuterie, water, sparkling water, and blankets. The boat is beautiful. Captain Eric shared stories of his experiences, while also playing great tunes for us. It was perfect!

Captian Eric is a gracious host: serving us snacks, educating us on the vessel, letting us help raise sails and participate as much as we wanted ... or let us relax and breathe in the sea air. He found us a pod of dolphins and got us so close we could hear them taking breaths! Was amazing to see all the babies and their playful jumps. Go sail with Captian Eric! You won't regret it. Captain Eric and his First Mate, Nate, showed us a wonderful time sailing out of Oceanside Harbor. We highly recommend the Captain and his classic sailing ship! My family & I chartered the boat primarily to disperse my mother's ashes. Although this was a somewhat sad experience for us, Captain Eric could not have been more helpful and empathetic. He even provided a bucket for that purpose. Nate's hors d'oeuvres and the champagne were top notch quality and most appreciated. (Not one of the seven in our party experienced motion sickness.) We also appreciated the Captain's willingness to take pictures of our group. He had shared lots of interesting "sea stories. His love for his boat, and the care he devotes to it, really shines through. All in all, our morning was a relaxing & pleasant experience thanks to Captain Eric & Nate! read more

We had a lovely sailing cruise with captain Eric and captain Gene. Me and my party of 6 did the 3 hour sail. The sail boat was beautiful, clean and both Captain Eric and Captain Gene were knowledgeable, friendly, and took really good care of us. Despite picking a 3pm sail time where the winds were not ideal, they took us out anyway and we got to enjoy the ocean breeze and even saw a few seals. Onboard they provided champagne, some snacks (pistachio, cheeses, grapes) and even allowed us to bring our own wine on board. The sail boat had blankets to sit on/lay down and they even let a couple of us sail the boat! They were also extremely accommodating with us bringing our small dog which I am so grateful for. We are so delighted to have found Pura sailing and look forward to coming back to Oceanside to sail with them again. Book now, you won't regret it! read more

Eric took excellent care of us from the time we boarded his beautiful sailboat to the time we disembarked. He followed regulations and helped us understand emergency procedures, safely navigated us out of the harbor and back, played appealing music (and was willing to change it or turn it off if we wanted), and helped us to traverse the side of the boat to move from back to front and back again, wherever we decided to sit to watch wildlife and enjoy the ocean breezes. Eric traveled out to sea to find dolphins for us to watch, and to our delight, we saw a few pods who swam in sync with our boat. It was my husband's birthday present, and Eric accommodated us in every way to make it enjoyable and memorable. We would definitely travel again with him on another excursion! read more

Chartered a trip with Captain Eric for a work event a few months ago. I wanted to treat my hard working team to something special and it was such a wonderful sunset sail! Free parking was plentiful and Captain Eric provided beverages and delicious snacks for us to enjoy. It was a relaxing, beautiful, and educational time! He shared with us about sailing to Hawaii and about various aspects of the boat as well. We had the best time and I'm not sure how to top this for our next work event! I guess we'll definitely have to come back again soon! read more

Pura Vida sailing charters is a fantastic way to spend some time on the water. We have done multiple charters with Captain Eric. Each one has been unique, but equally memorable and wonderful. Most recently we took part in the Oceanside Christmas boat parade. Although it's the only time we have been on the boat with other parties as well, it was a wonderful group of people. I would highly recommend to anyone. He'll even teach you a lot about sailing and let you steer the boat! read more

We had an incredible time out with Captain Eric for an afternoon cruise. He was attentive, thoughtful & really went the extra mile to make sure we were comfortable and had a good time. He had snacks, champagne & beer for us and even let us take part in raising the sails and pulling lines. We noticed dolphins in the distance and within 25 minutes Eric had us sailing directly along side the dolphin pack as they swam under and jumped around the boat as we cruised. It was an awesome, laid back and amazing experience. We highly recommend sailing with Captain Eric and we certainly plan to ourselves next time we are back in town! read more

It was an excellent sailing day with winds around 12 kn and full sunshine. I thoroughly enjoyed being able to take the wheel for the first half of our voyage. Captain Eric hosted us on a great Christmas parade cruise in Oceanside harbor. Being a part of the parade gave us a different and thoroughly enjoyable perspective and experience. Onboard, great snacks and beverages were provided (including Champagne and Beer). It was great fun to wave and give Christmas and Holiday cheers to other boaters and onlookers while listening to the carols. Eric provided wonderful and smooth sailing as well as narration. We had such an amazing time with Captain Eric and his incredible sailboat. The boat itself is beautiful with vintage touches everywhere. My wife, 12 year old twins, and I took the 4 hour sail at 3pm. This was perfect as we had ideal winds, saw seals, the sunset, and a full moon rising. Captain Eric was very accommodating and knowledgeable. I would highly recommend Eric and Pura Vida Sailing. An impressive 45 ft sail boat. She was ready to go on time and Captain Eric welcomed us aboard. We did a three hour run, and watched the sun set on the way back. Super fun. The beauty of the open ocean was breathtaking. Arrived back safe and sound. Highly recommend it. We were a family group, and we took a late lunch with us and ate on board. Eric is a super nice guy. The Captain is a master boatsman who can park the Song of David on a dime and still have the affability of a professional, courteous, and safety conscious Captain. My wife and I had a great sail with Captain Eric. The wind was really blowing the day we went out and Eric handled to vessel great. He really knows what he is doing and kept us safe as the wind and waves grew. We had a fantastic time and even saw some dolphins on the way back to the harbor. Everything went well! Captain Eric is amazing and he thought of everything to make our birthday- voyage-special occasion wonderfully magical. From the fruit charcuterie board, to the timing of a magnificent sunset, it was the Best! We were fortunate to see a pod of dolphins too and the mamas with their calves. It was an awesome trip! The boat was beautiful and clean. Our host was friendly, experienced, and served great snacks and drinks. He gave us a smooth and scenic ride, and he knew how to find the marine life- we saw 2 pods of dolphins and a whale! We enjoyed the trip and the company. read more

We had a lovely 2hr sunset sail with a group of 8 girlfriends. Absolutely Beautiful sail. Eric was prepared and reallt took care of us. We saw seal lions, dolphins and 2 whales + an unbelievable sunset! We all took turns behind the wheel and had a great time! read more
