I often get asked how I manage to stay sane while working with 3 small children. Usually my answer…read moreis that I stay (somewhat) sane with 3 children BECAUSE I work, but the truth is that I pretty much outsource as much as I can afford. I'd much rather spend the little spare time I have hanging with my kids or doing things that I enjoy than clean, cook, etc. However, it turns out we have to eat something and we're eating very well thanks to Sweetpea + Thyme. I think I've tried every food delivery service out there and Sweetpea + Thyme is as good as it gets. Every single meal I've had from Lizzie & Jen's kitchen the past 6 months has been so tasty. Even when I'm not excited from something on the menu it ends up being incredibly good. The lowdown on how it works: The Friday before: - Lizzie sends an email w/ the menu for the following week (one choice per day: Monday-Thursday). She will also work with any dietary restrictions. - I reply to the email w/ the days we'll be getting food. We typically order for 3 nights/week, which we end up eating all week long (lunches included). - Lizzie emails heat up instructions that even those of us who can't make eggs can handle The day of: 4pm: Lizzie shows up with a bag full of amazing food 6:30-8:30pm: My husband and I negotiate with (and sometimes threaten) 3 children to go to bed 8:30pm: We're hungry and exhausted after a long day of work and negotiating with our children, but we spend a few min heating up the meal 8:40pm: We eat too much of an amazing, but somewhat healthy meal...and sing Lizzie & Jen praises. --- I often bring the leftovers to work and somehow they taste even better (if possible) for lunch the next day. My kids also often enjoy the leftovers for lunch and I've even had my son's teacher ask how I find time to work, take care of 3 kids and make him amazing home cooked lunches. Ha.

I've never been very interested by any of the meal prep/meal delivery services that I've…read moreinvestigated as they've always seemed very basic and boring. I saw a glowing recommendation for Jay Solomon on Nextdoor and it somehow caught my eye, so I signed up. I've been using Jay's 2 Go for almost one year and I've been very impressed. The dishes are beautiful and creative with top-quality ingredients and have been very satisfying to me, a very picky eater. Ordering and delivery are seamless. I generally get an e-mail on Saturday advising of the week's menu. I then go to the Web site and fill my shopping cart with the items I want. There's a small discount for ordering by Sunday night, but orders must be placed by Tuesday and are delivered Wednesday afternoon. Everything is fully cooked, carefully packaged, and kept cool with ice packs. Each item is labeled with a full list of ingredients and warming instructions. Pop in the oven or microwave and instant deliciousness! Chef Jay has spent over 30 years in the restaurant business, operating and running dozens of restaurants and writing dozens of cookbooks. He knows what he's doing. Every meal is made fresh here in Denver at a local commissary kitchen just east of Central Park. The meals feature healthy food with options for vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, and plant-centric diets plus lots of meat and fish options. Many allergies can be accomodated. I'm a very happy customer and continue to enjoy new dishes and old favorites.

Well. I'm back for a return visit as my last visit wasn't up to par and the owners Jarod and Juan…read moreasked me to come back and so I did. While I should be posting as a posted a review my fingers were just a little juicy from the chicken, that's a good start! I ordered the same; Chicken, Green Chile Mac and baked beans. Stephanie was on task and asked me to wait a few and the wait was about 5 minutes. I glanced back at the kitchen and saw her and that chicken doing that juicy dance a smile came across my face, I said to myself.. good start! I started with the beans, yes, finally, spiced and seasoned with some heat, not mushy, firm and with some onions calling my name. Okay, it's working now..seasoning was on point. Green Chile Mac! Hello Green Chiles, where have you been! Thank YOU! Chiles were good size and were complimentary to the Mac. Those were in fact Green Chiles.. firm with a good bite and texture. The cheese didn't overrun the Chiles all in balance. Now the chicken, no bbq sauce was needed as there was nothing to cover up! Juicy, moist and flavor filled with just a hint of smoke as to not over power the chicken. Even after an hour the chicken is still moist and seasoning again just enough to let the bird shine. Overall this return visit was worth the try. I appreciate owners when a customer is truthful about a review and is honest and can tell the owners what was an issue and allow them the opportunity to fix if not for you but all of their customers. Without feedback you can grow a cliental. For me you have to eat, how the chef prepares the meal and allow their work to shine without adding extra salt, pepper or kill it with sauces but that's just me! The staff was so engaging and I actually found out they grew up in the same neighborhood so that's a plus. Overall - I was really happy and yes, some of that chicken may become a midnight snack. Thanks so much and up next is brisket!! Stephanie and Juan you rocked!

I mostly tried this place because it's in walking distance of my home. And even with that…read moreconvenience I'm still not sure I'd go back. For having a lot of people working there, they seemed almost annoyed that they had to give me customer service at all. I didn't order ahead because their only online ordering system seemed to be Doordash, and I didn't feel like dealing with that, so I expected that I'd have to wait a bit, but it still felt slow even under those circumstances for catfish, fries, and some spicy mac and cheese. It's a little weird that the only extras it came with were two pieces of untoasted, plain white bread and some hot sauce. No sauce for the fries, or for the fish. Not unbearable, but a little stingy. Maybe there were sauces I could have grabbed, but the staff certainly weren't interested in suggesting anything. The fries were solid, with a good batter. If you're going to go there (and hey, maybe you're the sort of person they're nice to), definitely get some of those. The catfish was about what you'd expect from the catfish, so I wasn't mad about it. And mac and cheese was fine, they didn't skimp on the poblanos. If you happen to be in the area and need barbecue, it's probably an okay choice, but if you already have places you like, this may not be worth it. They're probably indifferent to your patronage either way.
