Any animal that is older than 3 months in age is $40 and includes rabies vaccination. Adoptee will need to agree to spay or neuter the animal being adopted. If you love animals and want to help out the animal shelter but you can't adopt a pet, volunteer or donate money, there is always a need for item donations. Item donations make a huge difference for the lives of the animals at the shelter and in the lives of those who run it. Don't know what to donate? Don't worry; call the Morgan County Animal Shelter at (256) 773-2934 to see if any of the following items (in no particular order) are needed to help out. (1) Pet food & treats, (2) Towels & blankets, (3) Kitty litter & cat boxes, (4) Puppy or kitten formula & nursing bottles, (5) Collars, harnesses and leashes, (6) Grooming supplies, (7) Toys, (8) Crates & carriers, (9) Paper towels & cleaning supplies, (10) Hand wash & hand sanitizer, (11) Laundry detergent, fabric softener & bleach, (12) Dog & cat beds, (13) Flea & tick treatment, (14) Heating pads, (15) Food bowls, (16) Garbage bags, mops, brooms, & sponges, (17) Rubber & latex gloves, (***18) Copy paper, pens, pencils, post-it notes, & staples *** Lots of paperwork at a animal shelter that has to be done. Donating these office supplies makes it so the shelter doesn't have to buy them on their own.

I like GHHS! I love that they are a no kill facility! I love their online posts of available…read moreanimals (and they are not limited to dogs and cats, they have at times, ducks, gerbils, rabbits, horses, all Gods' critters!!) I got my previous feline here. The building is older; however, it is well maintained and not dated in terms or architecture. After grieving my previous feline who succumbed to renal failure, I was finally ready for a new furry friend! The greatest aspects of adopting here are the cats and dogs are separate, and there is a "visiting room" [my words, not theirs] where you first select the cats you want to get to know better and then take them to the "visiting room" which is in the same building, just a smaller and more "homey" feeling room, to spend as long as you would like with them. IMO, this is critical to ensure you and the cat or kitten are actually good fits for each other. I spent several 30-45-minute sessions at GHHS doing just this, and when I narrowed my selection to the cat I would rename Dio, I knew he was the cat for me!! The volunteers were friendly and helpful. Those at the checkout area when I returned on Saturday to pick up Dio, were not overly friendly, but who cares? You're only filling out your application, paying the fees, and collecting your new family member. I don't need a welcome wagon, or parade to complete this part. It's nice I got a "kitty kit" which consisted of some cat food, cat treats, and a cat blanket! Also, Dio was neutered and up to date on shots. Thanks, GHHS, for having this nice facility and welcoming those considering adopting a pet who really want to get a good fit and to prevent bringing the animal back due to some personality issues or behavioral issues.

I tried a couple of other shelters in Birmingham and Nashville, but this was my best experience by far. I came across a dog on the website, and immediately called because she seemed perfect. They were incredibly friendly and answered every single question I had about her and the adoption process. When I finally got to drive over and meet her they were so kind and thoroughly walked me through all the steps of adoption. I couldn't recommend this place more! Their staff and volunteers are both so friendly, and I couldn't have asked for a better experience!

It was a miracle and I'll always be grateful for everyone that helped me get my baby back. Please always have your animals microchipped. If you lose your animal, always keep your microchip registration up to date, and please don't ever give up hope. Keep searching for your loved one, don't let anyone talk you out of this important step in finding your loved one and being reunited with them once again. Please don't be confused, these organizations are all run by volunteers and these volunteers help these dear animals out of the kindness of their hearts. If you find it difficult to reach someone by contacting this organization, or another organization like Alabama Boston Terrier Rescue, just keep trying. If you need to surrender you dog, for any reason, please don't give up on trying to contact someone who will take your dog. If you aren't able to surrender your dog, or you aren't able to adopt a dog from Alabama Boston Terrier Rescue at the time of your inquiry, please don't be dismayed. These organizations are run by volunteers, and often times they may not have the ability to return your call or email immediately, due to having low staffing and/or due to having reached maximum capacity for their animal rescue organization, and this can especially be the case after the Covid Pandemic. If you run into a situation where you are turned away, please ask to be referred to another Boston Terrier Rescue organization that may have the ability to assist you. I am describing what I went through with losing Maggie, in order to help others who are suffering after losing a pet right now. I also want to really put things into perspective for anyone who isn't aware of the truly painful and traumatic experiences that these animals have already experienced in their lifetimes, and yet they still find it in their little hearts to trust and love again. More than this, these brave souls, once adopted by us, often end up being a significant source of comfort to us, and at times, even our sole rock in this life. By showering us with unconditional love, acceptance, understanding, support, attention, and protecting us, we begin to see our lives improve for the better just by saving the lives of these animals in need. Not only will these adopted animals quickly come to trust, love, comfort, and accept us unconditionally, they have also been known to vigilantly watch over us and our family and give their own lives in order to save ours. For example. Sadly, some individuals aren't able to care for their animals due to time constraints, lack of resources, perhaps that cannot afford the expensive veterinary costs associated with caring for an aging dog. Maybe they moved where animals aren't permitted, they may have welcomed a new addition to the family who was allergic to animals, they may have become disabled, or perhaps they are elderly themselves, or they are experiencing extreme fatigue, financial hardship, debilitating illnesses in their lives that make caring for an animal impossible for them to manage. Whatever the case may be, these animals, with so much love left to give, are often abandoned, surrendered to animal shelters, or surrendered to animal rescues. Non Profit Organizations, such as Alabama Boston Terrier Rescue, truly make the world a better place. They provide so many amazing and deserving animals with a warm, loving, caring, and comfortable place to stay, and by finding forever homes for these animals, where they can go to live in peace, joy, and happiness for the remainder of their lives. Alabama Boston Terrier Rescue also provides emergency veterinary care to the animals who come to be in their care, animals that might otherwise be euthanized, or much worse, left to suffer and die in excruciating pain. Please know that your love and support, via liking, sharing, reviewing, and otherwise spreading the word about these organizations, such as Alabama Boston Terrier Rescue on social media, Yelp, Google, TrustPilot, Facebook, etc. all make a significant impact. You can also show your support by choosing to volunteer your time, by donating funds, by donating belongings, by donating a vehicle, by donating pet food and pet supplies (to support the resources needed when caring for these animals), by fostering an animal, by sponsoring, really any way you are able to help these animals by supporting organizations, such as Alabama Boston Terrier Rescue, truly makes the World a better place, by improving and saving the lives of so many animals in need. Since many of these animals often go in life to comfort, assist and even save the lives of people in need, your support truly succeeds in saving all lives!
