Testaccio is spoilt with a great fresh produce market, as well as some historical delis, butchers and grocery stores. So it's safe to say I only really come here for some specific long-life goods, water, or the occasional milk run.
The prices aren't terribly competitive but it's probably one of the best priced regular supermarkets in the neighbourhood. The queues are long if you go at peak times, but mid-morning or mid- afternoon you can probably get through one of the three tills in a couple of minutes. I've never seen all three tills manned - they usually have just one or two active.
There's a deli counter with cured meats and cheeses, but not a real butchers department. The fresh veg is not the greatest in terms of price or quality. Overall it serves its purpose and is usefully open until 9pm every night, which makes it a useful emergency stop. read more
