I had looked at a few other places in and around the State College area, and ended up choosing Stone Valley for several reasons. I called and set up a time to check the place out before we decided to board there. The lodge seems pretty new and when we entered the lobby area, I noticed it was clean and well-kept (note: there are many cats on the property; just an FYI!). When we walked through the area where the dogs are kept, I noticed the runs were a decent size, which I liked. There are windows in that area so it is well-lit and spacious. The outdoor areas were also a nice size for the dogs to run around freely and play with other dogs, if you choose. I was looking to help socialize my pup with other dogs, so they paired her up with other puppies her size during outside time. The owner is very thoughtful in making sure to pair up your dog with other dogs that are compatible and well-behaved! The lodge is in a beautiful wooded area about 15-20 minutes from State College. They also board a variety of animals - horses, pigs, cats! The owner is very responsive and thorough in making sure you know what to bring with you. I was really nervous (and sad) about leaving my dog for the first time, but she was great with responding to my calls/emails checking in to see how my dog was doing every few days. They will also give medicine if needed. Our dog has been back 2 additional times since Thanksgiving and she has always done well with transitioning to and from the lodge. She seems to enjoy her time there and has gotten a chance to be around other dogs and animals. The staff and owner are all really nice and you can tell that they really love animals and do a great job caring for them while they are in their care.

We asked about the dog food and he very rudely says "we're all out" huffs, and storms away with a cart. I hope whatever team of managers see this review can look at your cameras at approx 1:35pm Saturday 04/05/25 to see and hopefully hear how this horrible employee treated us over a simple question.

I explained all of this to Customer service and said at minimum they should not only give me a complete refund but also give me a gift certificate or something for my time, trouble and aggravation. I got ZERO This is ABSOLUTELY unacceptable, and I believe the Trainer just failed to cancel the class when they only had one puppy registered. If this is how they treat Customers, I would steer clear. Totally unprofessional!!

The facility was top notch with clean tile lined indoor pens and two huge outdoor runs with shade, pools, toys, water, whatever pup could want. She was professional, asking all the right questions and requiring all the proper info, like vaccination history, emergency contacts etc. A FAR cry from the other facility we had used the two days prior out of necessity. They were "this your dog? Ok, see you when you get back". Nice folks but a completely unprofessional operation with cut rate facility's for the dogs. Standard wire pens attached to caged runs. No play areas and I suspect minimal contact with the dogs. How it rated 4 star is beyond me. Sweet Dreams was first class. Well, well done.

And the grooming crew at D'tails has called many times to let me know they were unable to comb out his mats and would need to shave him. They even leave a TV on in each room to keep the dogs (and cats) company. They are all pet owners so they understand how worrisome it can be to leave your fur baby in a strange place. Finn has many friends at D'Tails now. She gives their services 2 paws up (that's a 5/5). :)

My Australian Shepherd is a senior and she always gives him a nice light trim, but keeping him fresh and fluffy. He sees her 1x a month and The shedding factor has gone down significantly. My dog missed his regular appt at the beginning of the Covid shut down, so her was about 6 weeks past his regular appt. I was getting worried about his matting up, so I called Tails N Tubbies. Mary was quick to respond and quick to come out and groom our dog. She did a WONDERFUL job with him. I will use her again, in fact I already have my next appt made.
