Great ambience and very nice staff. My waiter gave really great suggestions and I love the dessert that they suggested to me. I was running off very little sleep whenever I came in and I didn't know that they were about to close and they still let me dine in an order. The comfort of the food definitely cheered me up. Thank you for the exceptional service:) read more

So this is currently the BEST Indian Buffet in the Greater New Orleans area! They have a huge selection of fantastic food on their buffet. I haven't ever tried the food from the menu yet. I've certainly been to better Indian buffets and really do miss the buffet at Nirvana on Magazine Street but these days Punjabi Dhaba is the reigning king of Indian buffet options! They really have created an upscale ambiance in this space and even though it is a buffet they still provide great service. read more

Ordered food on-line. Got a confirmation. Tried to pick it up and they acted like I was crazy because the order didn't come through. I tried to show them but they acted like I was confused. I will never go back. Here are the details. Note that I ordered it directly from their own website. read more

The ambiance is so much better than Hammond, but stops there. Only has half the food on the buffet as Hammond and quality was ok. Only 2 couples eating there from noon to 1:00pm - that says volumes. Only good thing was the fresh hot naan bread and wait staff. Sorry read more

I can't believe I haven't reviewed Punjabi Dhaba yet. I have been several times and it is consistently fantastic. There is a good variety on the buffet and everything tastes flavorful. The service is great. On this last visit, I could not eat the pakora because I am allergic to potato. The manager brought out a plate of spinach pakora as a surprise, which was very thoughtful. We were checked on enough to feel taken care of but not so much that it was intrusive. I will absolutely be back! read more

This place is such a hidden gem! The lamb vindaloo was some of the best I've had in my life. The service was phenomenal and the owner, who waited our table, was so humble and personable. Simply outstanding. If you're craving an authentic experience, don't miss out on Punjabi Dhaba. read more

Charged for nalli nihari but gave us plain goat curry, which is is 7$ cheaper. We ordered a lot of food and this Sunny person made up some stoy about how "sometimes we have to switch the nihari meat with goat". We wasted money on two plates of nihari and paid $15 extra for mediocre goat curry. Pretty sure he expected to get away with this type of cheating. read more

My first visit and it was wonderful. First the ambiance was very nice & the restaurant was very appealing. We were graciously greeted by the owner. The buffet had several authentic dishes which were all very good. My grandson had the lamb vindaloo which he said was the best ever. Thank you for a wonderful lunch. We're coming back again soon. read more

Food was excellent and the service was great. Couldn't ask for more during our visit!

This is one of the best Indian places around! They've only been open since December 1st of 2022, but we think they have the best buffet in the New Orleans area! For about $20, you get to eat their daily lunch buffet, which was fantastic both times that we've been here! You definitely get the most bang for your buck here. The buffet menu differs each day, but they have items such as: *Dosa *Pokoras *Chicken or goat curry *Tandoori chicken *Butter chicken *Chicken kabob *Saag paneer *Lamb curry *Fried fish *Biryani *Daal *Shahi Paneer *Carrot or pinapple halwa *Jalebi *A whole selection of sauces, chutneys, and pickles and so much more that I cannot remember! Every item was well seasoned and delicious. All of the meats were so tender and juicy. Really cooked to perfection. The buffet is refilled constantly (because it's so popular here), and it looks clean too. The décor and set up of the tables is also nice - plenty of space. read more

I have been eating hear for a LONG time, and the food is amazing, but the last couple of times I have come in, the buffet is closed. I'm very particular about what I eat and everything I like is on the buffet and it's cheaper than ordering from the menu, they need to advertise the buffet as different days on shit it down entirely. Because I have made two trips for nothing and I don't live close. read more

Everything is Divine. Try the Dosas and stuff it with dessert. The dosa crepe is savory but add some sweet to it. Service is very helpful but lacks in the "I speak English" department. Very opulent fixtures. Unnecessary. Would have appreciated less fine chairs and utensils and a more moderate price DEFINITELY WILL GO BACK OFTEN. read more

I was pretty impressed by the food at Punjabi Dhaba! I went for the first time this past weekend with some of my friends to try their lunch buffet. The restaurant is out in Kenner, but the drive is worth it to get authentic Indian food at a reasonable price which can be pretty hard to find in New Orleans. Someone in our group had dietary restrictions//allergies and the owner came out to help explain each dish to ensure that they would be able to eat from the buffet. The buffet consisted of classical Indian dishes, but it also had specialty dishes such as Methi Matter which impressed me. They also make fresh dosas with sambar during the buffet period. Overall, it was excellent find in New Orleans for great Indian food! read more

The food was excellent. I highly recommend this restaurant. We ordered 3 different dishes and they were all excellent.

One PM on a Friday for lunch buffet.. Tandori chicken was dry as were some other dishes. Buttered chicken and lamb curry tasted okay but rice wasn't fresh. I would make sure to have fresh rice and naan at all times at the very least. $23.99 for "weekend buffet" on a Friday? I don't feel like the food was close to worth $23.99. Maybe $14.99. Maybe. Hope they can improve but I probably won't return read more

Went for the buffet lunch, to the restaurant location. The buffet area was empty. They had cancelled it, for the day. Ordered from the menu. The food was good, the service not very good. read more

My friends and I stumbled upon this restaurant. The chairs inside are magnificent - like chairs for a king or queen and so comfortable. We ordered appetizers and an entree. The appetizers were out of this world. They were so good, we ordered a second round just as our entree came out. The entree was good - It could have had a little more flavor to it, but overall good. I asked for the dish to be mild, so I wonder if they took out a spice they normally use. There are a lot of options for vegetarians and gluten free - and they are clearly marked on the menu! The service was excellent. The owner and several others waited on us and made sure we had everything we needed. read more

I thought the lunch buffet was just okay. A good variety of dishes with a heavy emphasis on chicken dishes. Like a lot of buffets one of the challenges is keeping the food fresh and hot. The restaurant was not very crowded in our visit and many of the dishes were just warm. It is nice to have an Indian restaurant in Kenner. read more

Coming to post in the light of Mr. Negi's passing to highlight just how wonderful this place is- not only is the food authentic in a way that uses spices that made my parents reminisce about their childhood dishes growing up in India, but Mr. Negi and his team always made an effort to make every guest at the restaurant feel welcomed by personally greeting them and spending at least 2-3 minutes at each table. His hospitality combined with the fun decor made and continues to make this place more special than the average Indian restaurant in a way that stays true to its roots with the food and hospitality. For the food, tandoori chicken is never dry and has the perfect spice level. Same goes for the kabobs that are clearly all baked to perfection in their custom tandoor. Paneer dishes are always on point and a favorite is the appetizer. Buffet quality is always on par with dinner service. And definitely definitely recommend the rasmalai trifle with a side of masal chai to end the meal. One of the most unique and perfectly executed desserts I've ever had an Indian restaurant. Highly highly recommend this place for the amazing food that's made with a lot of love from a talented team. I also catered a 75-person event with them and the food was personally delivered in warmers and was a hit at the party. Portions were more than generous and pricing was very competitive. Thank you for bringing your joy to our little town Mr. Negi, you will be missed. read more

Arrived at noon, hoping to get a table (i know that the Hammond location can be full) Nice enough dining room but the buffet was not good. Sparse choices, nothing refilled or refreshed, dry and spiced without any vibrancy. Either offer a buffet, market it, advertise it or don't do it. And it wasn't inexpensive. I'll stick to the Hammond locale. read more

I've gone to this place since it opened. Buffet is awesome! Love the curry and butter chicken.

My daughter and I took a shot at trying some Indian food, but wanted to go to a buffet because we have no clue what to order. The inside of the restaurant is very nice. It is really clean and pretty fancy. The service is fantastic and the people are very friendly. One of the staff could see that we were kind of lost at the buffet, so he brought us on a "tour" of it and explained everything single item to us. I thought that was really nice. I asked about a certain item that I'd seen in their reviews on Yelp, but the lady said that they only make it on certain days. She told the kitchen staff to make it, and brought them to us free of charge. Ok, now the food.... It is very fresh and they are constantly adding to it. The warm naan melts in your mouth. There were probably roughly twelve items on the buffet, and we only found one we didn't like. Between the food and the service, this is a great place for an adventurous foodie like us. We will definitely be going back, and I definitely recommend that you try it. read more

I've been here twice. Once with takeout and once in person. The staff are friendly but they're still ironing out service issues. When I ate in person we got the wrong food twice, and it was a super long wait, the staff was not well informed on what came with each item. When I ordered takeout they weren't sure if the order was mine, either. But the food is delicious and it's the first time I've enjoyed and even craved Indian food. The spicy level is never the same any time I order the same thing but the food is good and staff are friendly. The garlic naan is awesome. I will definitely go back and hopefully they'll iron some more of the kinks out read more

Oh my goodness! This is the best Indian food in the New Orleans area. I've eaten at most of them, but this is the bomb dot com. If you're craving delicious Indian food do not come here!!!! Terrible experience from beginning to end. Bad service, horrible bland food and shady "bartender"/server. Walked in to nearly empty place, and nobody greeted us as we just stood there. Server comes from the kitchen and shows us to a table, he never came back to take our order so we flagged another person from the kitchen who took our order. When trying to get their "specialty cocktails" they had none. Guy (clearly NOT A BARTENDER) was struggling..so we decided to go with a double Crown & diet. He didn't know how to make that either..and we had to explain it to him 3 times. Drinks took forever-by the time thy got to us the ice was half melted and watered down. DEFINITELY NOT DOUBLES either!!! My bf got up and walked to bar to get an extra shot only to be ignored for several minutes while the guy chatted up his 3 other customers. He then proceeded to bring us 2 extra shots "on him" with his apologies..but get this..HE CHARGED US EVRY SINGLE ONE! Food arrived but BLAND, with NO SALT. No limes on our dry Tandoori We will never come back. Terrible. Just terrible. $119 for that mess!! read more

We tried the lunch buffet and it was good but in need of several improvements: 1. The lentils had a very good flavor but they and the spinach could have been less watery; 2. The Tandoori chicken had good flavor but was too dry on the inside; 3. most dishes are labeled medium spicy but we found them to be too spicy. The price was reasonable but we won't bring our daughter when we return since she doesn't like spicy food. read more
