If I lived in Fishtown, this would be my neighborhood to-go brewery. Small brewery with big neighborhood vibes. They have indoor/outdoor seating and have around 8 different style beers on tap and some craft cans available for purchase as well. They have a small food counter that was closed the day I went (Sunday) but I saw patrons bringing in outside food and eating inside. The staff is the sweetest and I loved talking to them, it felt like home and they wished me a safe return flight home. I met some cool locals and overall just loved the vibes here. What an awesome place!! I actually found PBBC when I was looking for another yoga class and I saw that they had a Saturday class here. I didn't have time to get to this class but I made a mental note that I wanted to come here if I was ever in the area. This weekend we had a dinner near by so I made it a point to come here. I had the currant sour and my boyfriend had the Octoberfest (I think). We both loved our drinks and we loved the vibe here. If I lived closer I would come all the time. They have a nice size tv and they even put the Penn State fb game on when the people (including me) wanted to watch. I left w a 4 pack of the blueberry sour bc I love all the blueberry everythings in the world. Venue has indoor and outdoor seating. Decor was colorful, vibrant, and fun. Service was prompt and friendly. About a dozen or so draft, a good amount of canned, beers, as well as mixed drinks and non alcoholic drinks. A good selection of food items and vegan options. They use the same grill to cook vegan and non vegan items. My non vegan bf is allergic to jack fruit, so he couldn't order anything due to cross contamination and the vegan and vegetarians at the table didn't love the idea of everything being cooked on the same grill together, so no one ordered any food items. Awesome little bar with plenty of beers on tap and solid food options. I will emphasis it is little - there are only a handful of seats inside. Luckily, they have a nice bit of outdoor seating, which is clutch when the weather agrees. Regarding drinks, I am a cider/sour type guy and love how they usually have at least one of each on tap. They don't kill you on prices either. If you aren't sure what you might want, the staff will help and small samples are available as well. Food wise, I have not yet eaten here. However, I've seen enough to realize I probably sure. The stuff looks amazing. Also worth noting they can do their menu with jackfruit instead of meats if you'd like to go that way. It's a shame when I lived over this way I never stopped it. It's a super cool spot with a cafe next door. So they hosted a little outdoor market last night with a bunch of local art, food, and live music. Things like this is why I love nice weather. It's always great to have "free" events. I put that in quotes because I always end up spending money! That's my fault though. What stands out most here is their pickles. You're all like what?!? Ok when you check out look to your left. Their is a little fridge full of jars of pickles. We go the habanero ones and they are some of the most delicious pickles I've ever had. Now they are very spicy so I can't down more than one without some dairy but if you wrap one of these suckers in a creamy slice of American cheese!!! Maybe Boarshead..... Oh my wife and friend had their beer and really enjoyed it. He got the milkshake flavor and was like WOW. As a washed up designer I love their logo. Whatever that's worth to ya. read more

This was our 4th Brewery that we came too and I wasn't too big of a fan of the beer that we ordered. My mom ordered a glass of the Stone & Key Pinot Grigio. Street parking available nearby. It was a cute decor and I enjoyed the ambiance. I would have liked to try the hot dogs or the grilled cheese as both sounded good. We ordered the Coffee Porter Nitro ES Cafe Coffee Blend. He opened the wine [did not cut the seal and just opened through the seal] bit it was not cold at all even though 2 ice cubes were added. It was not very enjoyable. The Porter had a strong coffee aftertaste but was quite heavy. I didn't enjoy it too much as it was a little on the bitter side, similar to a dark roast coffee. I did try a little bit of the Strawberry cider which I liked and it had a good sweetness. read more

As COVID decimates the restaurant business, I want to coddle Punch Buggy in a safe, warm embrace and protect it at all costs. I'm a sucker for small breweries, especially when the vibe is right, the beer is great, and the staff are awesome. There were lots of beer options on tap when we visited, including a very good chocolate stout on Nitro. I opted for the Sour Strawberry and a Hazy IPA, both of which were impeccably drinkable. The 2-3 staff members were just the right amount of helpful without being overbearing, especially considering we were the only dine-in patrons when we came. I love the charm of the small, garage set-up. If you're more of a stuck-up beer snob (you're allowed!!), you won't come to Punch Buggy for the ambiance, though I found it to be exactly what I needed on a windy, gray day. It's in a growing area of Kensington, and there's plenty of surrounding street parking if you opt to drive. They happened to be showing the Eagles game, and even though they would go on to LOSE to the NY GIANTS, it was a great place to watch the first half, as it was quiet and filled with beer and comfort food. The food menu is small. There are 3-4 varieties of hot dogs and 3-4 varieties of grilled cheese. The OG plain grilled cheese with a cup of tomato soup and side of salty chips is iconic comfort food. The soup even had little grilled cheese croutons!! For 8 bucks, it was simply satiating lunch. I hope Punch Buggy can survive COVID. I'll be doing my part to help keep this quaint jawn afloat! read more

My fiancé and I went to Punch Buggy one afternoon and we did not care for it at all. First, I would definitely consider it smaller than a microbrewery and we understand that it is a smaller facility but they barely had any of the options available, everything had ran out... and it was like 1 PM on a Saturday so we were a little disappointed in that. We would have loved to try the flavors that everyone mentioned like the Pumpkin Pie and French Toast Stout, they didn't seem to have any cool flavors other than some sour beer when we went. We loved the small outdoors atmosphere, which was set up more for like 2 people rather than larger groups and they had a couple of games on the side you could play. During our time here we had some weird customer service so we almost rushed finishing up our beers because of the guy helping us, and I didn't even get the chance to get his name because it was horrible. Overall, I would definitely like to see some different flavors and better customer service. read more

I stumbled across PBBC's "Opening Weekend" Facebook event in the feed randomly this week and I came to find out that one of the owners I went to school with growing up with in the Greater Northeast. It's always great to see people doing cool ass shit with their lives, like congrats guys, seriously! There are always new things happening on the outskirts of Fishtown and with the revamp of American Street, this place is sure to become a local favorite. The overall space is pretty cozy, and although it was crowded I wouldn't say it was packed. I only say this, because I couldn't actually hear my boyfriend who was sitting right next to me. They may need to look into something to dampen the noise levels (or reverb...?) because the space is pretty tight and all of the voices were ricocheting off the walls (I'm no scientist, just an assumption), making it feel noisier than it probably was. They had 4 of their own beers on tap, but additionally had Pizza Boy, 2SP, and Tröeges. I got to try three of their beers, but their fourth was kicked (next time!). The beers I got to try were the Clutch Session Ale( light and crisp brewed with Cascade and Centennial) Love Bug Hazelnut (malt forward with hazelnut and chocolate), and the Punch Buggy Yellow (blonde ale with clean and well balanced flavor). I think it's really fun that all of the beer names play off the Punch Buggy namesake. The Love Bug Hazelnut, although not my favorite of the three, had the most interesting flavor. Definitely something to try even if Hazelnut isn't your thing. My boyfriend read somewhere that when asked whether or not this brewery was going to be serving food that their response was something along the lines of "Yes, we'll have food, but we'll be focusing mostly on artisanal grilled cheese." If that's not what was said, and I'm taking y'all out of context, I'm sorry, but that response had my boyfriend and I headed down to check y'all out for sure just based on the grilled cheese. We got the Jalapeño grilled cheese as well as the pepperoni grilled cheese and I will say that the Jalapeño was just a tad bit better. The combination of the cheeses (which I would actually suggest that you print which cheeses you're using for each grilled cheese on the menu, because I didn't see that they were listed and have no idea what cheeses were on the sandwiches even though they were great) and the jalapeño flavor with a kick was amazing. I liked the Pepperoni Pizza grilled cheese, but I would've liked it more if it had bigger slices of pepperoni in it. I understand why they chopped up the pep, (so that you'd be more likely to have every bite have the flavor) but I feel like it diminished the presence of the flavor overall. I wouldn't say to use the deli sized pep, but maybe the smaller ones, because the pepperoni flavor was barely there. Pretty good, but sadly barely there. We also had the Black Bean Chipotle Hummus and it was hands down top three hummuses that I've had in my entire life. The heat hits you like 4-5 seconds into chewing the chip and the flavor profile is insanely unique for hummus. The only suggestion I would have would be to up the game on the chip pairing. The Tortilla chips were not on the same level as the godliness that is that hummus. The saltiness of the tortilla chips took away from the flavor of the hummus (which was neutral at first and then hit you with the heat) maybe some stronger tortilla chips or some unsalted pita chips would be a better pairing. Overall the vibe of this place was pretty chill, and I'll surely be back. I can really see this brewery as the place that everyone loves to come hang out at on Tuesdays for trivia or something like that. Also their Hoppy Buggy logo is amazing. Super awesome. A friend and I visited Punch Buggy Brewing for a couple of beers before our dinner at Cheu Fishtown this past weekend. We enjoyed our time there. We tried two or three beers, which were all good. The brewery is long and narrow, with a few tables inside and more outside. We sat a picnic table outside that was covered with an awning (perfect since it started to rain). It was such a wonderful surprise to finally see that Punch Buggy Brewing was open! The atmosphere had a very local feel, but I absolutely loved it. A fun and cool place to gather. The service is very friendly. There is often an event happening. I just saw them on Fox 29. The indoor and outdoor seating is comfortable. I am new to beer and I have to say the beers I've tasted have been amazing. The Food served by Happy Bites Philly has been soooooo good. The sliders and fries are worth the ride. I was very impressed with punch buggy! The interior is similar to a garage- but in a good way. There is a decent amount of seating with lots of games to choose from. The beer list is majority beers from other breweries, with just a few home-brewed options. I had the wit/saison, which was much more wit than saison. Nice addition to the neighborhood which already has a solid array of libation places. I did not try any of the food but decided to checkout the beer. The place was packed and I walked up and was able to order a flight right away. Hopped out back and start to try the flight.
