One of the tough things about living in the islands is being unable to attend family functions - especially funerals - on the mainland. When my uncle passed recently, it just didn't seem right to call a local florist in his rural Arizona town to send generic flowers. I wanted to send tropicals. But this would likely mean that someone would have to arrange them after they arrived, right? Wrong! I was able to order a beautiful arrangement - yes, arrangement - that was then shipped via FedEx directly to the funeral home for my uncle's services. It was the next best thing to being there myself. Except that it didn't quite go as planned. Puna Ohana Flowers did their part - put together a beautiful arrangement. FedEx did their part, it was delivered over night and signed for at the mortuary before noon. Bernice at Puna Ohana even answered my call on Saturday afternoon to provide me with the tracking. The mortuary however completely forgot about the arrangement, leaving it in their cooler after it arrived on Thursday until my very upset call on Monday morning. Yes, they found the flowers and would personally delivery to my aunt's home. But, what on earth would they look like after 6 days? I asked for a photo so that I could make sure that they weren't dead (if they had been, then I would have had more issues with the mortuary for their foul up). Ordered $90.00 of flowers to be delivered around Christmas. All the anthuriums were dead, apparently not package correctly for a mainland winter, the red ginger lasted 4 days...I wrote to complain a bit just to see what they might do,,,,,they never responded. Wold not recommend. read more
