Stopped here for a quick breakfast roll post Wickerman festival and pre-bus back to Glasgow. Eeek…read more It's a pretty small establishment and was brimming with regulars and post-festies like me. There only appeared to be two people working, a man taking the orders and a woman doing...everything else! We barely managed to squeeze our substantial luggage under the table at a booth that had just been vacated. The lady came to clear it really quickly, which was good, but wiped the table down throwing all the crumbs into the lap of my friend, which...wasn't so great. Things just kind of went down hill from there. We ordered a combination of four breakfasts and drinks which the man really struggled to deal with. I honestly cannot fault the food, it was exactly what I was after at that point, nice greasy roll on egg and potato scone. I got a fresh orange from a carton which was quite gross (shoulda sprang for the freshly squeezed!!). My friend asked for a tea but it never materialised. When we asked about it we were just told it was pretty busy and my boyfriend ordering two drinks for himself had confused the waiter. We had a good 45 minutes to wait for the bus but were seriously cutting it fine because the service was quite slow - understandable when there was only two people working but I'm surprised they didn't guess it might be a bit busier. We ended up paying altogether because we were too stressed to ask for the bill to be split, and it took long enough for that to get sorted! It hit the spot on this occasion, but I probably wouldn't go out my way to visit again.

A bit of a find, and had a lovely lunch here. Well worth looking out if you're visiting for the…read moreday. Dumfries could really use more spots like this - the centre of town has too few lunch venues: I really hope the folk here go from strength to strength. The place has some nice touches, free wifi, and a good selection of options on the menu, together with a specials board. I went for the New Yorker ciabatta: pastrami and gherkins and cheese, toasted perfectly. Came with a nice salad, a few crisps and a creamy coleslaw. Service was prompt and very friendly. Couple of rough edges - minor decor touch ups requires, and inside tables are hilariously wide: you'll wanting to be sat next to, rather than across from anybody you're with. But that's no bad thing- they've only been open a short while, and doesn't detract from things in the slightest. Also we almost walked past: think they could use a bit more obvious signage. Will definitely be back next time I'm visiting Dumfries.

Enjoyed the goat cheese, beet root, rocket ciabatta and a freshly made scone with a side of fresh cream. The kids menu was very reasonable at £2/ea and both ate their plates clean. One had the smoked ham with cheddar, the other smoked ham with goat cheese. Nice corner of toys and color pages for kids to bring back to tables. Would definitely come back to this sweet shop!
