The 'Mission Statement' on the wall is, "Provide and serve healthy wholesome food in a warm and inviting atmosphere" and they do that in spades. It's a comfortable cafe with delightful decor and colours - everything is clean including the brightly patterned tablecloths; the food is excellent and very good value (better than any we've found in Dumfries and we've tried out several places over the last few years). There's a great breakfast menu, snacks of many kinds, soup and fresh bread, sandwiches, toasties, panini, rolls, baguettes, vegetarian choices and so much more. I had a baked potato and I was surprised and delighted that it was a good size and heaped with cheese and coleslaw (so often these days you get a small potato with hardly any filling!) It also arrived with an eye-catching fresh salad which included slices of orange and tortilla chips - not bad at all these days for only £5.25! My husband had a scrambled egg roll which he said was lovely - fresh and delicious and only £2.25 (where else would you find that?) There is a huge choice of drinks both hot and cold; good teas and coffees, hot chocolate and more. The owner is very pleasant and helpful as was the lady who brought our meals to the table. We'll definitely go straight there the next time we're in Dumfries!

Coffee is always good here and service as well . It also doubles as a small Christian book store but it's not prominent and has the best home baking ever . There only appeared to be two people working, a man taking the orders and a woman doing...everything else! We barely managed to squeeze our substantial luggage under the table at a booth that had just been vacated. The lady came to clear it really quickly, which was good, but wiped the table down throwing all the crumbs into the lap of my friend, which...wasn't so great. Things just kind of went down hill from there. We ordered a combination of four breakfasts and drinks which the man really struggled to deal with. I honestly cannot fault the food, it was exactly what I was after at that point, nice greasy roll on egg and potato scone. I got a fresh orange from a carton which was quite gross (shoulda sprang for the freshly squeezed!!). My friend asked for a tea but it never materialised. When we asked about it we were just told it was pretty busy and my boyfriend ordering two drinks for himself had confused the waiter. We had a good 45 minutes to wait for the bus but were seriously cutting it fine because the service was quite slow - understandable when there was only two people working but I'm surprised they didn't guess it might be a bit busier. We ended up paying altogether because we were too stressed to ask for the bill to be split, and it took long enough for that to get sorted! We found a coffee cup for a friend of ours who loves foxes and I found a few home made things to support a charity that were adorable and reasonably priced. I would come back again and get coffee, because that's totally what we forgot to do while on our visit.

The only downside is that with the recent bad weather they gritted the disabled parking and had quite obviously left the rest!! Just because someone does not have a disabled badge does not mean they are less likely to slip and fall as I spotted several elderly customers who were unsteady on their feet due to the icy conditions. Did their parking area not require grit?
