When I finally decided to get rid of it for good I started investigating what my options were and what the best clinic in London was, and after days of searching I've found the Elan Medical Skin Clinic. I understand it's run by the lovely Sue Ibrahim and has its main branch in Rayleigh, Essex. Sue is in the London branch every Wednesday. I've enquired and booked all online (which I appreciated as I hate phoning people). There is a £50 fee to pay for the first consultation. Last week I headed to Whitecross Street and met Sue. She talked me through the different ways a mole can be removed and what her preferred methods are, then examined my mole and told me a cut at the base with radio wave would suffice as it didn't have any root. I was able to do it there right after the consultation, didn't feel any pain whatsoever and all in all I was out of there in 30 minutes. The actual removal took about 3 minutes. Paid £250. Today the scab has fallen off and I can barely see anything, I am ever so grateful to Sue for her professionalism and kindness, and I could not recommend her enough. I was really scared of heavy scarring and I feel silly now that I can see it'll all be fine once the new skin isn't as pink as it is now. Thank you Sue.

This is a big corporate operation, I'm not a fan. I wrote in based on my experienced and received a very thoughtful reply (yet zero offer of compensation - I spent upwards of £300 -- or to make it better), thus 2 stars instead of 1. Transcript below. -- Hi, Dr Halfhide's bedside manner is abrupt. He made several comments generalizing Americans, of which I am one. I found this unprofessional and frankly, annoying. If I'm paying £150 for an appointment lasting 15 minutes, I don't expect to be insulted in the process. Besides that, I was booked in for a nurse consultation that felt more like a pitch for products, then had to rebook in for the next day to come see a doctor. That initial consultation could've easily taken place over the phone, she didn't even LOOK at my skin! It lasted about 3 minutes. I had to rearrange my work schedule 2 days consecutively and the entire process felt like I was being manipulated. Also, I was sold products I cannot use now that the doctor prescribed Differin (adapalene). These were pitched to me on the "consultation." Expensive products that I no longer can use that felt forced on me so someone could earn a commission. There was zero coordination between the doctor and consultant. Very odd. I was not pleased with my experience at Sk:n. I'm not sure if this is always how business is done, but I certainly feel I was treated unfairly and inappropriately, not to mention that there didn't seem to be a lot of cohesiveness to the treatment plans between the nurse and the doctor. Colleen -- Response from Sk:n via email -- Hi Colleen, Thank you very much for getting back to me. Firstly I would like to apologise for your experience with Sk:n. I am very disappointed to hear about your consultation with Dr Halfhide, noone has complained about his bedside manner before and this is feedback that he would definitely want to know. We do take customer care very seriously so I am sincerely sorry for his comments. In regards to the nurse consultation, she did write notes in your file as to why you were booked with the Doctor so I am sorry she did not communicate this effectively to yourself. There are several types of acne and she is an acne specialist, we can usually tell pretty quickly what type of acne a client has and whether or not this is something we can treat or if a client needs antibiotics, it isn't something you can diagnose over the phone unfortunately. I apologise you felt like it was 'a pitch' for products for commission purposes, however, our practitioners, nurses and doctors do not earn commission on any of our products or treatments. It is not like a spa or beauty salon, it is a medical clinic so this doesn't apply to our clinics. I have spoken to the doctor and nurse in regards to the products and the antibiotics, and you cannot use the products in conjunction with the antibiotics but as soon as you have finished these you can go straight onto the products to prolong the affects of the prescription that the doctor administered. This is why they were offered at the time. Once again, I really do apologise that the whole experience has seemed rushed and a push for sales with inappropriate bedside manner from the doctor. I will raise this with the staff in question, this is not how we wish to portray our company nor treat our clients who we do value. We really do appreciate your feedback so thank you for taking the time to respond.

I had an absolutely horrible experience at this clinic, and would not recommend it to anyone. Back…read morein May, I came in for a consultation and surgery after I had been left with what I thought were two cysts either side of my chin as a result of bad acne two years ago. After a quick 5 minute consultation with the surgeon and dermatologist, I was told that yes I could go ahead with having one 'cyst' removed that day. What happened was, after my skin had been cut open by the surgeon is that he saw it was actually not a cyst but scar tissue, so nothing was actually removed and my skin was stitched up. I was told this is likely to leave a permanent scar. I was so shaken up and upset that not only was the problem unfixed but I now had a permanent scar that I will have looking unsightly on my face all through the summer, for no reason at all. I was told that instead of the £599.00 fee it would cost for the cyst removal, we would only have to pay £337.00. I was very upset and was just thinking about the new issues with my skin and wanting to leave, so I paid for the 'treatment' without really thinking it over. I was then prompted to book another appointment with a senior derm for £165 (absolutely shocking that they would try to charge again after misdiagnosing and then performing surgery). After having a week to think it over and discuss it with close friends and family, I can honestly say I was absolutely shocked that not only was I operated on after a misdiagnosis, but that the clinic then tried to charge for further appointments and treatment after misdiagnosis and that they took a payment of £337.00 from me, for essentially misdiagnosing me and leaving me with a permanent scar. They are trained dermatologists and surgeons; it shouldn't take cutting someone's skin open and leaving them with a permanent scar to know whether or not there is a cyst or scarring. At any decent surgery, I should have been referred to a senior dermatologist if they were unsure. Over the phone, I requested a refund and was told that my comments would be passed on and that someone will get back to me. A week later, nothing. I wrote a complaint by email, which was then consequently ignored for another week. I finally emailed them again to let them know that if I would be ignored anymore I would have to look into reporting this incident. I then had an immediate response saying that the owner would get back to me on this. A week later and I still had to prompt a response. What I got back was, although polite and apologetic, was quite a patronizing response apologizing that my condition hadn't been 'fully treated'. 'Fully treated'?? They had actually made it worse! I was told as a 'token of goodwill' I could have a refund. This was the only decent thing the clinic had done in my whole experience with them, and I'm sure this is just because they were worried I would look deeper into this incident. Even then, I didn't receive my refund after about 2 weeks from being promised it. I would say from my 'surgery' to my refund it probably took about 6 weeks. I would recommend anyone to stay away from this unprofessional and unethical clinic.

I started my Acne treatment in the London Dermatology Clinic in October…read more Before starting the treatment I had mild-to severe acne all over my face. This had decreased my self-esteem and I was covering my face with tons of make-up daily. I wanted to get rid of my acne asap however through NHS I had to wait couple of months in order to see a dermatologist. So, I decided to go private. I called the London Dermatology Clinic for an appointment and I got to see the dermatologist on the same day of the booking. The dermatologists Dr. Anton and Dr. Nassar, the nurse and the reception staff made me feel very comfortable and they were really lovely, nice and really welcoming. They are really professional and efficient. They answered all of my questions and explained the course of the treatment really well, including the pricing, side effects, the dos and don'ts etc. The doctors and the team made sure that I had a safe treatment with regular checks and reassurance. So, I started my Roaccutane treatment within the week of seeing the dermatologist as I had to wait for the blood results to come out. It's been 7 months now that I have been on Roacccutane and my skin just looks amazing!!! I do not even have one pimple on my face. My friends and colleagues always say that my skin glows and is flawless and that the transformation is a miracle!!! My experience at this clinic has been amazing and I am really happy with the results!!!
